[IEM] Kiev Discussion - Page 213

At any point of IEM Kiev, if you think of an interesting byline, please drop a sentence in the Pro Scene thread. (e.g. "Day 2: M5 hype was everything people expected") At the end of the month, I'll catalogue the results of Kiev but also any interesting facts or events that happen over the course of the tournament. Thanks. Neo, 20.1.2012

TRM does have some things to adjust in his play, maybe learn a couple more champions and figure out strats with TSM, but he shouldn't be getting all the blame for their loss. More champions? He plays a bunch of champions already - tryndamere, irelia, trundle, udyr, teemo, yorick just off the top of my head. The crazy thing about the irelia pick is just about any of his other champions would have been better and offered more control in top lane. EDIT: Irelia got picked like every game this tournament. Is she considered op in tournament setting or something?

Is she considered op in tournament setting or something? She's a safe pick that should be able to tie with just about anyone, esp if it goes to a passive lane farm off. But that doesn't work anymore, as shown by m5.

Darien bullied every single top in this tournament and that turned into jungle losing which turned into mid then bottom losing (if those lanes weren't already losing). Darien was 2x oddone's level in game three because he'd push top then go steal jungle. I really have no clue why irelia was chosen. I like TSM as a team and was rooting for them even though I dislike a few of their personalities, but this tournament just shows that they need a better top player and a less passive (personality) jungler. Dyrus + saint And just wow at diamond getting mvp over darien lol. I don't agree with you at all. TRM and TOO are both great players, with great mechanics, and they already knows how to play a bunch of heroes. You don't need to change such composition, it's dumb, you will ruin everything they already built together... not to mention they got 2nd and destroyed M5 in the second game ? They just need to brain more their pick, M5 was a class above everyone for picking. They don't have huge judgement on heroes, they just take what is needed to win their lane. I remember watching TOO's stream some weeks ago and saintvicious telling him that shyvana was a huge jungler, and TOO saying "No, she's bad, I don't like it"... and now look at M5 just crushing face with a shyvana that was actually doing everything (counter jungling, gaining little of advantage everywhere, she was the best hero hands down here). Also I think against M5, everything is about controlling your own jungle, and TSM just failed to do it in the third game.

Personally I think more weaknesses than anything as the gameplan is pretty much laid out thanks to m5. The first part is undoubtably true. The level of counter-jungling they were doing with Shyv is almost a shift in the meta. Or at least it's not something anyone's used to dealing with. You basically have to play against her like you're playing against Singed, she gets that tanky and has that much speed. I imagine some weaknesses will be discovered going forward and people will figure out how to deal with her. That said, I don't think M5 will be hurt too much. They seem too well-coordinated to let losing this strategy be their downfall. :-)

Just wondering about how successful Riot is in actually promoting LoL as an e-sport. E.g. If there's normally 500K active users, 230K watching the tournament would be quite impressive 1.3 million concurrent (only EU + NA)

Imagine if all lol playerbase was dived in division in which there are only 100 players per divison... I really dont understand the sc2 ladder system, its so bad people need to use third party websites to compere themselves with eachother. ELO lol system is probable the best possible ladder system in any multiplayer game that tracks your stats.
