At any point of IEM Kiev, if you think of an interesting byline, please drop a sentence in the Pro Scene thread. (e.g. "Day 2: M5 hype was everything people expected") At the end of the month, I'll catalogue the results of Kiev but also any interesting facts or events that happen over the course of the tournament. Thanks. Neo, 20.1.2012 |

To be fair, when there is a big competition going Riot does force a shiny link to the stream when you log into the game. I don't know of any other game that does it. It does artificially inflate the numbers if you are considering the amount of people that actually care about the pro scene.

I think Yorick would have been the safest pick top.
Even if he did not do well he can't really lose his lane, and as Chaox/xSpecial seemed to always win their lane, the ult would have been even better.

I actually think running dual AP vs that would have been good. How is shyvana gonna leave lane if Malz or Sion are standing there forcing the wave back?

"Artificially inflate the numbers"? What does that even mean? Only diehard fans should be counted?
Riot knows marketing (and customer service, but I'm digressing) at an unparalleled level compared to other gaming companies. Props to them on knowing how to publicize their ESPORTS cred.

I played her a lot like it was played in Kiev, but the LoL-community was so retarded to troll or hate on me every fuckin game I picked Shyvanna. Now, after Kiev everyone will give Shyvanna a try after she played such an important role. Now I'm not playing LoL anymore and it feels good. :D

I didn't know promoting a tournament artificially inflates numbers.

Holy crap, there were 230K people watching the LoL stream? Just how many people exactly play this game?

For realz? Guess we know who's taking the blame... Yeah, when Matt Marcou congratulated Chaox, he really seemed to struggle to keep it cool. They should be bros about it, though. Won't help the team if they start picking on each other now. Great overall performance, heavy derping in game 3, lost you a tournament. To be fair, M5 were flat out the best team this tournament, so I think it's perfectly fine to lose against them at this point, even with their prior trashtalking and shit. hahaha, okokok.. 1. TSM NEEDS to band together and aim to improve from here. 2nd place at Kiev, fine. Hannover is where it's at now. 2. I don't care what you guys are trying to justify here. Irelia pick may have been a joint TSM decision but Rain Man needed to speak the fuck up. "I can't Irelia vs Shyvana bros" should have been the first sentence out of his mouth when Irelia was suggested. No team is going to force a player onto a champion if that player has qualms about the pick. It is Rain Man's responsbility to veto bad lane matchups. It's his lane ffs, why let your team force your playstyle? No, more like "dude, I can't irelia vs shyvana, dude... like dude"

Everyones going crazy about TRM, I feel sorry for him and his kind of foreseeable future :S
He isn't necessarily going to get benched because of getting stomped in the finals. We need to know what went through TSM's minds when that Irelia came up. TRM does have some things to adjust in his play, maybe learn a couple more champions and figure out strats with TSM, but he shouldn't be getting all the blame for their loss.

Team decision to go w/ Irelia. I imagine the thinking was that if they could just keep even top, Regi would win middle with Karthas (who I'm not sure I really like as a pick here) and Chaox/Xpecial could win bot. But that clearly didn't work.
Frankly, I don't think TRM or really much of anyone else has played against a Shyv that was that aggressive. Probably didn't think it would get out of control like it did. Consider it a learning experience and come back in Hanover. That's got to be the takeaway. The team got outplayed, not any individual.
Frankly, Game 1 was where they blew it. They had the "better" side and first pick but still lost hard.

No one is counting "the amount of people that actually care about the pro scene" we're counting how many people were watching it
and god damn there was a lot of people watching it

Hilarious... Yeah, I've been trying to pick her up a week or two ago because of TD frequently arguing how good the kid actually is, got yelled at a lot for. Now, I guess I'm getting yelled a lot for, too, but because I'm ''trying to copy someone's playstyle.''
sigh.

Just wondering about how successful Riot is in actually promoting LoL as an e-sport. E.g. If there's normally 500K active users, 230K watching the tournament would be quite impressive
