At any point of IEM Kiev, if you think of an interesting byline, please drop a sentence in the Pro Scene thread. (e.g. "Day 2: M5 hype was everything people expected") At the end of the month, I'll catalogue the results of Kiev but also any interesting facts or events that happen over the course of the tournament. Thanks. Neo, 20.1.2012

GO WITH A! TSM - Team of Strategy Masters. Cassiopeia was banned g3 otherwise regi would have definately picked her again vs Morde. Except Morde was picked after cass in g2 (huge M5 screw up), and Karthus was picked before Morde in game 3 because M5 would have taken him most likely. In g2 they gave double blood at lvl 1.. can't say too much after that as M5 couldn't play their normal game anymore at all. And the Karthus pick seemed almost baited, they first flashed Karthus, then last second switched to Sona (Sona is one the MVP champions in this tourney btw, but that aside). According to M5 mid his tier list for AP mid is 1. Morde 2. Ryze 3. Gallio so they were never gonna pick Karthus. Cassio just did too much dmg they found so they preferred to play vs Karthus in last game. Cass with fast blue cause lee sin jungle is probably the hardest counter to Morde in the game. The early deaths didn't help, but I don't think he could have won that lane regardless. Even a Cass without blue shits on morde pretty hard.

I think in LoL you snowball way too easily, I think there should be much much more champions that are good early and bad late, or bad early and good late! As is right now, all champions are pretty much equal at all point in the game and it just goes so that early advantage -> win every time. I don't think it's interesting gameplay that games are always decided at like 15min. As soon as a team is like 2k gold ahead I have never seen them lose ... riot changed it to this conciously, this is apparently what they want. Incredibly stupid to hope on mistakes for the rest of the game to get back into it. Top teams are too good to let others get back in, and really, everyone is wasting 30 minutes when this shit happens. It's not too big of a problem in solo queue because teams aren't coordinated, but in pro LoL it happens just about every time. This is the case in any game. If you're behind, you can only count on playing better than your opponent, and when the skill level is quite close, this usually means you hope he does a mistake. It's the same in SC2, if you get countered early and lose probes to a timing push, you pray or... You GG. Which teams never do in LoL. The only problem is that we go on to Nexus killing way too often, if we let teams GG when they feel like the game is over and don't bash them for that, the spectator experience will be better.

Maybe Teemo wasn't the best pick, but it was better than Irelia, and his shrooms would've helped them be more aware of the counter jungling, especially on purple side when it's so easy to put down the shroom in the tri-bush :/ They could just shroom their own jungle. But I still think that Singed top would have done great too. Shyv can't push lane against singed. This is what I don't like about counterpicking against m5's shyv pick. First of all, shyv is stronger than some of these counterpicks people are thinking of outside the lane. Sure, it stops him from wrecking havoc in your jungle, but are any of these heroes gonna snowball all over shyv? Not really, and shyv will most likely be more useful to m5 for the rest of the game. No, I don't think this is true at all. First of all, if you play passively in sc2 you can definitely let your opponent get back into the game, and the lead is closer to static than snowbally, and the thing I'm talking about are SMALL advantages that you see in LoL. Like 1k team gold lead can turn the whole game into one's favor. Have you ever watched Dota? Some teams just plain know they're gonna be behind in the early game, and they aim for specific timings in the mid and late game. Some teams don't have any carries, others base their team around 1 carry like spectre or AM. Dota has no where near the snowball effect that LoL has.
