Hey guys, it's been a long time since I wrote in TL, or really done anything other than my schooling, as I need to improve or I get kicked out. As to keep some sanity in my life, I have found writing allows me to release the thoughts of the day, and put my mind at ease. I have made my personal blog as much of a daily occurrence as I have time for, since I am not only trying to keep to my studies, but progress past the standard. I will on the occasion still write about what is happening with my company, and my DJing (if any new developments arise), but mostly the blog is used as a destination for my daily thoughts/events.
The question I want you all to answer is would you be interested in me copying my entries to my TL blog, or should I keep my TL blog for things only pertaining to Starcraft? Here was my latest blog entry to get a taste.
Burn the Present for the Past?
"From those who read my last post, I burnt a pretty significant bridge last weekend, read the post for more info, but you ever think maybe everything happens for a reason? Maybe that bad things happen in your life so it can bring in the good things? Do you believe in fate?
Well I don't. I know great lead up. I believe that nothing is ever predetermined, everything that happens in life is just a product of probability, which many of you may refer to as chance. It's only when something with such a small probability of happening happens, do we disbelieve it is only chance. Well it is, but what do you think is the probability that I start a big fight with someone so close to myself, during a celebration of getting my life back together and focusing, something that said someone has been hoping I do for a long time, and who had shown more joy from my successes than I ever had.
Then what is the probability on top of such an event that I have a small dispute with my friend I celebrated with that night, causing myself to go to the gym by myself for the first time in over four month last night, only to see the first girl I ever dated (about ten years ago) at said gym, and to not only see her but almost physically run into her, and lock eyes for what seemed to be forever. As I was focused on finishing my workout, we just smiled and acknowledged one another. The probability of such a random series of events presenting themselves in such a convenient order seemed infinitely small. The compulsion to invite her out for a coffee was unavoidable. to my dismay, the compulsion only presented itself as I left the gym...
Now we look to the probability of her responding to a simple Facebook message, so I presume the new question is will she say yes?"
I know I am no English major or anything, but I just find it healthy for me to write things down, after all Henry Miller said "The best way to get over a women is to turn her into literature." I figured I would come back to the TL community on whether you guys would want to read it, as I probably wouldn't be where I am mentally, and physically if it wasn't for Starcraft and the TL Community ♥
If you don't think I should post them on TL, but would like to keep up with what is happening with OMW Productions, and whats happening with my SC DJing, and Producing you can always check out omwproductions.com and if you like to keep up with my personal life you can always find my blog at djwilma.blogspot.com

Should I assume the lack of feedback is a key indication that I shouldn't bother posting my blog enties on TL and just leave TL for all things SC?

I think if you bring the content, people will come. If it is good content TL always wants good content. This is the blog section, put what you or you think others will appreciate (within the TL guidelines). I'm always for more blog entries :D
|
I actually click around the blogs quite a bit now and then, you're gonna have to make sure your titles stand out though because there's quite a bunch of blogs getting posted all the time edit: but good content is always appreciated

Post whatever you want to share with us. We're a certain community, so it's likely we'd be able to help more on things we've been through (girl issues, computers ... guy stuff in general). But there are no rules dictating what can and cannot be posted in blogs apart from the general forum guidelines, that's kinda the point.
I'm much rather see read something emotive and thought-provoking, having nothing to do with Starcraft, than read a run-of the mill "so here were my low-ranked ladder games from this week" or "I wanna go pro". Seriously, if you've EVER got issues we can help. Don't think just because it's a Starcraft Forum the only thing we're capable of thinking of is Starcraft!

If you are not comfortable with getting your material harshly criticised, then I wouldn't post it. TL community can be nice, but it can also be very mean at times.
|
well i don't read your blog but i read through tl blogs. So if you post it here i might read it, if not then i won't. If you want people to read it post it here, if not then don't, i think it's as simple as that. What you should avoid however is posting like the first two paragraphs and then adding a "read the full at <link to your "real" blog>", because then i'd get mad, not read it and would start skipping your blog posts on tl if it happens often enough for me to associate your id with it

Agreed, personally I much, much prefer the "life blogs" to the most of the SC "experience" blogs. I honestly can't figure out why I should care if someone got promoted to gold league or how the last 3 games they played turned out. So keep the life blogs coming please
(though this last one was technically a "girl blog"; a highly valued and interesting subset of the "life blog")

Don't copy blogs your wrote for other places here... That is really lame.
It has nothing to do with the topic. Blogs is a forum for all kinds of topics. It has to do with you being desperate for attention and not working harder to produce something interesting, but working harder instead to make sure more people see it. That is annoying and the reason a lot of mainstream culture is substanceless (since it values promoting itself more than actually being good). If that sounds pretty apocolyptic and doesn't seem to have much to do with you here's the short answer: You're really, tediously, boring.
|
Don't think many people will pay attention. I'd say just add your blog to your signature and be done with it.
|
write about what interests you and don't worry about views or responses. Blog is for you to write about what you want.
I personally write primarily about sc2/bw and TL community related stuff in my blogs and they are moderately successful (a few have passed the 10k views mark) but I don't do it for attention I write for fun and to share things on TL that other people would find interesting.
|
well it seems you already have a website and a blog, so there's really no need to copy/paste stuff from those sources to TL. I'd much prefer original content on TL
|
Okay so the conclusion I have come to thanks to your feedback, is I will keep my daily blog posts to my website, but if I am seeking advice or anything that I need feedback on, I'll post it here since I can always rely on you guys ♥
|
im personally on a posting spree right now its totally up to you
|
Life Blogs > Starcraft blogs. Need more, they are far more interesting than run of the mill sc stuff (even the BW ones). Also you should've asked her out.
|
Write it if you want, but don't be surprised/annoyed/angered by lukewarm responses. There are plenty of life blogs on TL already and while some are interesting others are just negative complaints about life/love/friends/politics/school that we've grown bored by.
