"I'm only platinum, but...." Don't post in the BW section about how you're excited that a team breaking up means more players for SC2 or how you can't wait till Jaedong or Flash switches over. That's their forum for their game, don't ruin it for them. Don't flame hosts of community shows (Inside the Game, State of the Game, Lo3, WoC, etc); you look like a jackass. Don't assume you're right and everyone else is wrong; explain your perspective and why you don't think the other idea is valid. If you're posting about something, include replays. Be detailed Respect you TL elders (especially staff/mods/pros) Don't shit on pro/semi pro players; A big problem is so many people shit on pro players all the time because it makes them feel cool, but then pro players don't want to contribute (ie, almost no professional players post in the strat forum any more) It's you, not the game; Stop talking about balance and game design If you're having a bad day, look in the blog section, I'm sure you'll find a nice girl blog that will make you laugh for hours and take all your troubles away. This isn't 4chan, don't post you're memes as a response to a thread Ummm...more stuff.... DOn't be stupid....I don't know, I can't think any more, but yeah, don't be stupid and you'll be fine.

The answer to "Should I do something" is always going to be yes, since it doesn't cost the replier anything to basically get free content. So just skip the step of asking and do it.

Aahahaha oh my god I can't believe how awesome that post is. Cannot be appropriately expressed by words. This thread is looking pretty great so far, I think in addition to the 10 commandments it will really help new users get accustomed to TL

Spell check your post before you click post! I'm bad at this. I write long posts, immediately post them, then edit them 2-3 times as a find spelling mistakes or bummed up phrases. Just do the spell check! Read and value everyone's opinion. People with 4 posts have insightful things to say, people with 3000+ posts can still be idiots. Don't be afraid to PM any of the mods/staff if you have a question or a problem. They are much nicer in 1:1 conversations than they might look when they are banning people.

-If you get a warning, don't argue with the mod who issued it. Edit: Use the search bar before making a thread to see if there is a similar thread and don't make a thread with 1 line.

On a more serious note, before making posts click the "preview" button and read your post, half the time I do that, I catch stupid mistakes or stuff that could be misinterpreted. Read the spoiler boxes at the top of threads, and at least the first 10 pages of a thread before posting, chances are if the thread is 89 pages long, whatever you were going to ask/discuss has been talked to death. Don't be afraid to PM people just to tell them a post made you smile or that you thought their arguments were convincing, it costs you nothing and it makes other posters feel better. Plus who *doesn't* like having a shiny yellow "new pm" at the top of their screen?

Don't read the OP, then post your opinion on page 48 because it most likely was said on page 2. (and write some stuff for Liquipedia) edit: And don't write anything like "umad?" or something that makes you look stupid, a lot of people come here to get away from the rest of the internet. On September 02 2011 01:07 BLinD-RawR wrote: Don't know if this was meant to be ironic, but it made me chuckle. :pRead the damn thread before you post. My advice: -Don't Flame other users. I've seen way too many posts get warned/banned that were completely fine, but then the poster added an extra line calling the person he was replying to a "fucking retard" or something similar. There's no need for it, and all it's going to do is get you banned. -This isn't 4chan. Posting stuff like "umad", "+1", "lol", or even just "I agree" isn't contributory. If you don't have anything to add to the discussion, then you don't have to post, just be content to read what others are saying. Two word replies just spam up any actual discussion and makes it harder to read. -Play TL Mafia. It's probably the best thing you could do on this site. :p EDIT: GM, YOU NINJA!

Additionally in real life if someone voices an opinion you take the time to listen and reply if worth it. Don't badgerbait in order to start an argument... I honestly can't understand why people have trouble understand this.

Make sure everyone knows your opinion about whether Huk is a Korean or a foreigner. This is a debate of epic proportions, and you'll regret it if you don't take part in it! Every time you close the stream because of a caster, post about it to let everyone know. Remember when you played team games in BW and everyone would say "lag" as soon as there was a bit of lag in the game? The same thing applies on TL when you're watching a stream that lags! If there is a thread about female SC2 players, whether it be a team or a tournament, you MUST complain about it. Typically you accuse the tournament or team manager of being sexist and claim that the players would get no attention if they weren't female. After all, giving a girl the opportunity to play for a professional team is the fastest way to kill ESPORTS! If there's a thread about Destiny, you are required by law to post in it that he's a terrible player and speculate about what his ranking would be without infestors. And finally, remember that the result of a SC2 game should only ever be decided by whichever player clicks the fastest in 20 minutes. If someone ever wins because of their strategy rather than their ability to click super fast in 20 minutes, it is your duty to whine about it here so that one day, tournaments will finally implement that NR20 rule that makes sure the better player always wins. + Show Spoiler + jk

Never let anyone get away with a blog even remotely suggesting he got a nice life without calling it a bragblog. And always tell people in the tech support forum to get a bigger power supply! more watt is always better, just to be safe.

If you're here for another reason and don't know what Brood War/SC2 is about, spend time watching youtube videos or click on one of the "Live Streams" listed on the right before you do any posting. It's pretty integral to Team Liquid that you know what Starcraft is, etc.
