I have a black widow TE at home and was thinking about getting the TE stealth for work for something quieter. I'm hoping that the muscle memory I have with the cherry blues translates pretty well to the browns and visa versa. browns are the same in feel, really. If you're trying to game, I'd really avoid the tactile, but for work, browns are incredible.
Personally, I like tactile for gaming too. And like I said, I already have the blues at home with the black widow, so getting an identical yet quiet keyboard for work would be great.

I'm really liking the look of the Keycool 87 White-body Side-printed keycaps (MX Blues), but it's going to cost me around $100. I'd like to buy a similar keyboard (brown or blue) for around $50 to $70, and while there are deals (QF Pro and Trigger), I want something that looks simple/similar to the Keycool. Is it worth getting the Keycool or should I just pick up a ~$70 QFR?
Also, I'm planning on taking programming classes next school year so I was wondering if full or TKL mattered in programming.

imo keycool 87 is not worth $100. Same thing with any other random chinese mechanical (noppoo, whatever). They're not bad, but a QFR has a better build quality. So unless you're physically in asia and getting it for $50, probably not worth it.

Maybe I'll get the Stealth, or some keycaps later on. Thanks!

In my experience, the tactility of blues is much more pronounced than browns.

I agree, it's got something to do with the click accentuating the clack.
But I still really, really don't like the tactile feedback when you're doing repeated keypresses of the same key over and over again. You notice the actuation point and have to either be above or below it, it basically makes your key feel like it's a two-piece setup and just causes unreliable feedback. If you do more typing than gaming, I'd suggest browns. If you do more gaming than typing, I'd go black/red. Blues are just not right for gaming, period. I hate that razer thought that blues were a good idea, because I trusted that razer would make a good product wound up with a typist's keyboard that has needless backlighting and great gaming features. Blues are for pure typists. I emailed razer, and was responded to that the keys are non-customizable, they don't offer any customization options, and that they have no plans to offer non-tactile keyboards in the future. I'm pretty much done with razer products (I own a razer bungee, have used many razer mice, and use a BWU) because they really seem like they're just trying to market to gamers that don't really know what they're doing (I know lots of razer users know their stuff, but those users sure as hell don't use the starcraft 2 mouse or the stupid rubber dome starcraft 2 keyboard)

As someone who used every popular keyswitch, the blues do have a more pronounced bump than the browns, but that's because the actual bump on the blue switch is larger. You'd need cherry MX clears to have a comparable tactile feel without the click. I was in denial about it for a long time (since I've used blues for the majority of my mechanical board usage), but blues are the worst for gaming. Good for typing though (but that's preference). The reset point being above the actuation point will slow you down when double tapping and spamming keys. Greens are the same I'd imagine. Red, brown and black are the same to me for gaming with the reset being right at the actuation point. I like the browns because of the bump. I find it helpful and for that reason I recommend browns to people. Blues aren't optimal for gaming, but you'll never lose games because you had blue switches. Flash uses blues after all.

I'm a developer and I prefer TKL. The keypad just gets in the way of my mouse/mousepad. A keyboard with a minimal footprint makes it easier to position everything in a comfortable and ergonomic position.
I don't miss the keypad at all. On the rare occasions I do touch a spreadsheet, I'm working with formulas and not doing data entry.
BTW, if you have roommates, they might not appreciate how noisy the blues are.

I only miss it when I gotta punch in my credit card number into an online transaction. So much easier but not really a biggie.

CM Quickfire TK is Browns Corsair K90 is Reds. Just curious, which one do you prefer?? I have the reds, and I'm been thinking of getting the browns.
It's a toss up. This is my first time using Browns, but it feels really good after you use it for a couple of days.
Overall though, for GAMING, I like the linear responsiveness of the Reds since I've already trained my hands to not bottom out on those (had Blacks for the longest time before I switched because my fingers fatigued). Makes for faster pressing when I game. For my personal tastes, I don't think Browns work for me at all for Starcraft since the bump just hurts my overall "flow".
As for TYPING, it's to the Browns, hands down. It just feels like you're getting something done. Reds aren't that bad though, but once you have used both keyboards, you'll definitely see the difference. After I used my Browns, I tried out my Reds again, and it just didn't feel as good.
As I said before though, it's a toss up. I really love both switches. And for my tastes they have their pros and cons.

aaah just pulled the spacebar off my filco with browns to show the workings to a friend and dont know how to put it back properly - can anyone help?
edit: sry sorted now. Strongly recommend never removing the big keys from mechanicals

White Quickfire TK just came...
SOOOOOOOO nice! The browns are just perfect!!! I love this thing!! Better than the MX blue version that I had. Quieter too, since I'm in an environment where quiet is valuable. haha!

Costar stabs are really simple. I've changed my caps numerous times, no hassle.

Travel distance would be one difference between those two o-rings. WASD Keyboards has more explanation and comparisons.

It should be possible to get o-rings from your local industrial rubber supplier.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a filco blue for mostly typing, a little bit of gaming here and there, last minute comments are very welcome!

There are often cheaper options (not sure if this is the case in Japan) but filcos are totally solid and you won't be disappointed.
