Gonna keep it brief.
Most tournaments and streams use the StarCraft category on Twitch. The category is old as dirt, and I'm assuming it's pretty much saturated at this point, which means very little exposure to potential new players.
Meanwhile, there's the Retro category, which is larger, more varied, and more active.
In theory, if we streamed StarCraft in the Retro category one day a week, we could expose the game to a whole new audience and hopefully bring in more players.
I've dipped my toes into the Retro category a few times, and it's been pretty neat ngl. I've had at least a couple of people stop by saying they completely forgot Brood War still existed, or that they had no idea it's still active.
Thoughts? Good idea? Bad idea? Might be a cool experiment at least, the more people we can make Starcraft-cruious the better lmao.

I think it's a good idea that I never considered and I streamed starcraft for a little while myself.
I'm not a popular streamer so as a new guy i think it would motivate me to stream again.
I always will remain a loyal starcraft fan but often times i watch it through starcraft streams.
In fact I noticed one day the viewership for the Starcraft category was like an amazing 10.
I guess we have to remember so many viewers are KR that exclusively use SOOPlive or afreecaTV so we don't get any of them over here on twitch at all.

I don't think anyone would want to watch my games, unless as an art experience of how not to play properly.
But otherwise yeah you can try. Can you double category or it must be just the one?

I wasn't able to set two categories. In fact, I wasn't able to change mine for some reason, maybe the request failed

Yesterday it wasn't very successful, I will try the Retro category again today. If nobody comes to the stream there's no point.

you guys wasting time. People dont even use categories these days. They look at your viewer count and click on it. So if you average 1-5 viewers you are cook on twitch. Twitch is in a very bad place when it comes to growth. These days you can be hosted by 60-70 viewers and there is not a single person that type in your chat. If you average 60-80 viewers there is a chance you get more traction when it comes to followers. But if i were you i will focus on Youtube and TikTok and see if something comes from it. If you are motivated ofcourse. But just making you a video silent hill with your low skill expecting people to watch that is way too optimistic. For the record Soo the progamer has like 25 afreeca viewers doing that. So at the end of the day u gonna be realistic with your goals. But broodwar is proly the less you can use to get something from it.
Also iopq Take this as feedback and not a critic. But the guides and stuff you make explaining it is very complex to understand. You are using terms and idk if you are in your own buble in your head or what but the explanation you are making is something that i suspect very few people understand. I remember watching that minerals boosting guide and you talking about a mineral patch and dont even show the patch or the fck you talking about LMAO. So in that sense you can improve a lot. Maybe writting an script and clear it before making the video could help you.

No, definitely, because I'm thinking out loud it's not really clear
I plan on making a short video that just tells you what to click or press without explanation, just do this and see it's faster. That should be like very easy to understand content
