I actually like the TK layout of being able to switch between the number pad and arrows/pg up.
I didnt realize that the function is a switch, i thouht you had to hold down the function key to use the del/pgup/pgdown keys. I use those constantly as a developer but can definitely live with an on/off switch. Consider it ordered, thanks for the insight!
edit: i think i am such a keyboard newb that i didnt realize what numlock does. Feel free to publicly stone me

You know, I was unemployed for a while and saw deals on MX Brown keyboards like every week. Now that I'm actually employed and have surplus income, I haven't seen a single damn deal.

Yeah, haha, sorry I couldn't get to you earlier. All you have to do is turn off Num Lock and you can use the Delete/Home stuff. The only problem I can see with these is if one uses the numpad to exclusively to type numbers.
Function key is only used in conjunction with the "F" keys on the top of the keyboard to do certain actions like increase/decrease brightness (the actions are labeled under the respective F key).

Can someone point me to the ghetto-rings that someone created themself? I am looking to try that out. It doesn't seem to be a very easy thing to google..

The typical hole puncher for paper for a ring binder does exactly the hole size needed for the MX key-cap's stem. If those hole punchers are the same in EU and US just use that.
My ghetto solution was pretty much like these products: http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access,slpads
I tried to make a copy of that idea out of 2 mm rubber foam but those rings turned out too thick. Key travel was severely reduced and some keys didn't click right. I couldn't find 1 mm rubber foam so I can't say how 1 mm would feel. 1/18 inch is somewhere between 1 mm and 2 mm, so that might be perfect.
Overall, rubber foam is a bad idea. The material I used was wearing out pretty fast. Perhaps cutting up an old bicycle tube works.

my keyboard just came in today. switching from blues to browns is a welcome change. after 3 years, all that clicking was starting to get to me. pretty satisfied with the quickfire tk. looks great in white too but might take a while to get used to the layout of the pad. might also need a wrist rest but that's not a big deal

I'm really, really tired of the blues in my BW ultimate. the keyboard is great, built well, but I find that tactile bump actually gives you two actuation points when spamming a key and gives unreliable feedback on repeat presses sometimes. Great for typing though. The damn things (even with orings) keep my girlfriend awake, too.
I'm looking at the Maxkeyboard nighthawk x9 with red's. I need backlit boards (I've just had them so long I just like the sensation of my hand passing around a lit keyboard,) and though I think I'd prefer blacks, no good backlit board with blacks and tenkey is under 200 apart from the x9. also, I've heard that their customer support is fucking incredible. I've played with a friend's steelseries with reds and I hated the strange shape of the enter/backspace
Does anyone have any feedback on switching from blues/browns to reds? or any feedback on the nighthawk x9? is a 2mm actuation shorter than standard reds?

And would anyone be interested in an immaculate (inside and out, cleaned with picks, tweezers, and cyberclean, not a scuff, scratch, or mark anywhere) blackwidow ultimate with a keycap puller and preinstalled 40a durometer o-rings from WASD for $75 +shipping?

when you spend over $100 on a keyboard, why not spend another 10 and get some real o-rings?

Do you notice much of a difference in the feel of the keys going from blue to brown?
I have a black widow TE at home and was thinking about getting the TE stealth for work for something quieter. I'm hoping that the muscle memory I have with the cherry blues translates pretty well to the browns and visa versa.

hah, fair enough.
I definitely love the 40a o rings from wasd on mx blues, they make it into the perfect typist's keyboard.

browns are the same in feel, really. If you're trying to game, I'd really avoid the tactile, but for work, browns are incredible.
