Hey guys, i have a quick question. I've been on the lookout for a good mechanical keyboard for a while now, and i've narrowed it down to two choices right now. One is the Zowie Celeritas, the other is the Ducky DK9000G2 PBT.
The main distinctions between the two for me is that i know the Ducky is said to be higher in quality, having PBT keycaps as opposed to ABS keycaps, but the problem is that it is not sold in the Netherlands, while the Zowie is. That means that the Ducky will set me back 120 ish euro's in total and will probably take a long ass time with shipping and perhaps additional issues will arise with Customs. I don't really know, i've never ordered something from the US before. The Zowie will set me back about 110, but it's sold in the Netherlands and should be painless to order.
Anyone from my neck of the woods (western europe) have any experience with buying a Ducky? What website did you go through? The one i have my eyes on is mechanicalkeyboards.com, but i have no idea of their reliability and their track record. Any other recommendations are also welcome.

I've had good results with just using some random wire before I got a puller with a bag of keycaps, but it's kind of tricky to get it under the keycaps if the wire isn't strong enough.
Solder wire would be perfect, I think.

Not to throw a wrench in your plans, but Filcos from KeyboardCo are in your area and price range (120 E inc. VAT, if applicable). I would take a Filco over both the Zowie and the Ducky any day. KeyboardCo's customer service is absolutely top-notch. They're a pleasure to deal with and always respond to any questions and emails that you have.
If you're still set on getting a Ducky, mechanicalkeyboards.com is a reliable vendor. They're part of Tiger Imports. A lot of people who have done business with them have been pleased with their level of service. I haven't ordered from them myself, so take that as you may.
I have a few friends who have the Celeritas, and they love it. The only knock they have on it is the large enter key, but that seems to be standard layout overseas and should not affect you. Still, at the same price of a Filco board, I'd still go with a Filco.
You can always order separate PBT keycaps. There's a lot of great vendors out there that offer a variety of caps in different styles and colors. You could have rainbow caps, black, white, gray, blue, red, blank, infill, engraved, dyesub, side-printed, etc. So many options out there where you can customize your board to your heart's content.

After a long time of procrastination, I finally took the plunge and ordered myself my first mech kb.
Ended up getting a Filco Majestouch Ninja with browns. I gotta say, mech keyboards are absolutely amazing. I was a little disappointed when I first got it because I think I built up the difference a bit too much in my head, and my first few types on it I didn't feel like it was too big of a leap. However, after spending a couple of days with it and going back to work to a membrane keyboard, the difference is amazing. Part of me wishes I had stayed living in ignorance as now I'm pretty sure my work keyboard is going to drive me mental and I'll have to get another mech
The ninja itself is great. Everyone seems to love Filco, and for good reason. It feels really sturdy, it's quite heavy and I love the clean look with the front printed keycaps.
If there's anyone even contemplating investing in a mech keyboard, I definitely say go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Got a quick question about buying a mechanical keyboard: I'm have a trouble to pick between Zowie Celeritas and MEKA G1 while Zowie keyboard will cost me 110 dollars and MEKA G1 costs 75 dollars,
As a student without much money to spend out which should I get? If Zowie is ALOT better than the MEKA G1 I'll diffidently buy it but if there isn't much of a difference between the two I'll grab the MEKA G1.
Thanks

Wow, didn't even know Filco's were that readily available around here D: Thanks a lot, i'll check it out!
EDIT: I've checked out the prices on the Keyboardco and they are actually far far more expensive then the two options i listed. Even a TKL keyboard with browns is going to set me back about 150 bucks, and a full size would set me back nearly 200 euro's. That's a lot more then i was willing to spend, tbh :/

Ah sorry, got the currencies mixed up.
The decision between the Ducky and the Celeritas is yours. If I was in your position, I'd go with the Celeritas since it's much more accessible and comes at a much lower price than the other options. You won't have to worry about customs or delay either.
Hope you find the best keyboard for you

If you want quality, then Zowie is the way to go. If you need to save money then MEKA G1 is also a good choice. They're both good for the price. The Meka G1 also has more stuff on it, like audio ports, USB ports, and wrist rest.

I would say that there is no the website for blank ISO colored keycaps, but if there were it would probably be geekhack.org. All of the big vendors push their wares on that discerning community. There are frequent groupbuys of keycaps all the time. Generally, the admins are helpful. It's the TL of the keyboard community basically. Qtan's store (that vendio website you mentioned) is featured on geekhack and it's actually easier to get ahold of Qtan through GH than it is his email.

I've never owned a mechanical keyboard before and im looking to upgrade because im tired of chinsey $50 'gaming keyboards.' This thread has helped me out ALOT, so thanks OP. From what I've read, I'm most interested in cherry red switches, because i like as little resistance as possible and typing and playing.
Thats why Im leaning towards the QPAD MK-50 here reviews are a little sparse for this product thats why im asking you guys what your thoughts are on this keyboard, or if i should go with something else. I dont want to spend more than $130, and a wrist rest, media keys and backlight are all preferred but not necessary. Edit: I've just looked a little closer and it turns out this keyboard has the special A's and O's, as an American idk how i feel about this. How do you use the keys with 3 functions on it?

There are lots of re-branded versions of that keyboard. Take your pick, basically. However, that model is known to have faulty construction much like the BlackWidow. Purchase at your own risk.

I gotta say I am thoroughly impressed with the level of customer service at Zowie. When I got my first one the space bar was awful and I was disappointed, but they sent me a new one within two days! Then (yes this sucks) my brother was using my computer and got mad and smashed my keyboard. I was prepared to make him buy me a new one but instead first tried to RMA to Zowie, explaining what happened. Even though it wasn't their fault they told me to send the keyboard in and gave me a brand new one (cost 11 bucks for shipping, which I made my brother pay). Great company and solid mechanical keyboard (no idea how my dumb ass brother even managed to break it, what a douche =).

Built well, but not indestructible. Zowie and Steelseries have great customer service.

Steelseries 6Gv2 with reds still feeling great.
