Laptops don't come with replacable graphics cards.

Some have those user-replaceable standard MXM cards for the GPUs. But even then, the interface keeps changing, and it's not like you could really replace with a higher-performance, higher-TDP part because of thermal limitations.
But yeah, point stands about a 15R like that. You can't.

Smallest cases that can support 4ish hard drives (SSD, 1-4 large capacity drives), an optical drive, and potentially long graphics card?
Edit - Should have added, mATX, mITX included.

That's exactly the feature set of the Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced. I think there may be an upcoming 130 revision. Thermals and noise suck, though.
Lian Li PC-Q28 also supports all those things.

Given the look of the 304 (and other comparable cases), I think I can live without an optical drive. Will work well as potential case to house my future upgrade, as well as a few HTPCs.
Thanks.

Is there an optimum resolution to play minecraft at? Is there a maximum resolution beyond which you won't get any improved quality when playing minecraft?
I'd like to invest in a gaming PC and I want to get a build from the Computer Build Resource Thread, and I don't really know much about selecting a resolution to game at.

It's easy to decide nowadays. The screens have a native resolution, unlike the CRTs of the past. It will probably be 1920x1080 for the typical screen. This will be the resolution you will want to use for every game. If you try to use a different resolution, it will look pretty ugly.
Look at what screen you want to have, and buy a graphics card that manages to deal with that resolution. There are 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200 and expensive 2560x1440.

Twitch chat stuck on loading screen. The problem only started a couple days ago (about the time when they made us all change passwords) and now it happens with every stream. Any solutions? Thanks.

Log in on a different page and it should start working. Make sure the account you're trying to use actually changed passwords to a DIFFERENT password.

Logging in and out of twitch didn't work, but you know what did work? Logging in and out of Team Liquid!!

So I hope this is simple enough for simple answers thread and doesn't need to go into drivers and all sorts of other things.
My google chrome keeps going quieter than all my other programs (which is a little weird since it's almost the only thing I use anymore). and going into the soundbox in the bottom right, I can reset it to the mixer line and it will stay at normal sound for a couple minutes before dropping back down to about a quarter of the levels of everything else. Not sure if there is some setting im missing or something else...
Using Windows 8 on a Lenovo ideapad Y570, google chrome with google chrome adblock, google docs, and mcaffee site advisor as the only extensions (I know, silly. but hey, it does it's job.)
Anybody have issues like this before or know how to fix it?
Thanks. <3

Hello, everyone. I know this is a rather long 'simple question,' but it would be very meaningful to me if you read through this and helped me understand what I'm dealing with.
I have a decent laptop that I got less than two years ago. Back then, it could run SC2 very smoothly on medium to high graphics, and could also run Minecraft well. However, for the past few months I have noticed a significant deterioration in its performance. Its frame-rate drops in most games, and eventually overheats and crashes. For instance, I can't even play Minecraft on lowest settings for five minutes before the computer shuts down. Even a very old game like Half-Life (the original one) still causes my computer to overheat and crash, though after a much longer period of time. I know for a fact that my specs are more than enough to play lesser-demanding games like Minecraft, Half-Life 2, and such. However, it seems to me that my computer is getting more and more damaged simply from playing these games. Why is my laptop essentially dying, and are the frame-rate drops related to the laptop overheating and the crashes that occur?
I've given up hope on fixing my laptop, but I still would like an explanation of its degrading performance so I can avoid repeating these issues in the future. Thank you very much for your help!

^As simple as dust buildup
Games of any specs will usually run some component to 100% (it's 100% because the component is designed to operate at that..) and bad design of laptops in general (favoring looks, low weight etc, instead of cooling performance) paired with dust buildup makes them operate badly like that in general, or start to do so quite badly over time
|
Components throttle themselves to prevent overheating and if temperatures exceed a certain threshold, it shuts down to prevent damage.
A fan might have died or you just neglected your laptop and have not cleaned all the dust that has accumulated over the two years.

Why is this happening and how can I fix this? Update Java. It's probably "JRE" not "ire", means "java runtime environment".
