You would need a DVI cable since you need a working display to enter BIOS.
You can use the key, not sure what you're concerned about. If it fails to activate, you just go through the online / phone re-activation thing.

I have no idea what you mean about drivers for HDMI. The graphics card manages that. Just use the cable that came with the monitor! All options work... DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort. VGA is analog and bad.
To not have the Windows setup get confused and make mistakes, pull all cables for all drives except that one drive you want to have Windows and the new C: volume on. The key will surely work, but you will maybe have to phone Microsoft for activation after installing Windows. A robot will answer and give instructions. You'll have to type in numbers through the phone's number pad and write the robot's answer codes down.

I only pressed start button once and it peeped and blinked red at the HDD button( i guess cause no OS yet ). I plugged in my monitor via HDMI(Only thing my last pc had got no DVI :/) but I could get no connection with the computer so i thought it had something to do with it needing some sort of drivers for hdmi. I will give it a go tomorrow using the USB with windows on and see if i can get any video at all. I only have one harddrive so i guess thats the only way the OS can go?
Also I was worried that since my old computer was a pre built one it might only work on that one? Idk ill try 
Edit: Was using the motherboard HDMI. should I use the GPU one?

Yes, use the GPU.
The board will try to use the GPU first, only use integrated graphics if it can't find a GPU. That's the usual default settings. The integrated graphics gets disabled. You will have to manually enable it if you want to use it, and you'd have to set it as the "first" device for the BIOS to get displayed on it. That usually does not make sense as you can't run games on the GPU without the screen being connected there.

Edit: My sound is a bit weird though... Do I need to manually download drivers for something?

The motherboard CD should have audio drivers on it. Or you can go to the motherboards website and download the audio drivers. You should probably get the chipset drivers etc too.

can i get both of those on gigabytes website? i did get some audio drivers with the mobo CD but ive heard sometimes you dont get the good drivers?
Also my last pc was a HP media computer which had something called beats audio. would that be the reason to why it sounds so diffrent?

Yeah it will all be on the website. The mobo CD usually has a lot of junk on it but also some useful things. I usually google each thing on the cd and decide whether to install it or not.
I don't know, afaik beats just pumps up the bass. Your audio drivers should allow you to do something like it with some tinkering.

You should try the website, ignore the disc. I actually regret installing the special drivers. They seem strange and technically not any different than what Windows installed by default. I also like the Windows interface that's not flashy and without weird skins a lot more.
You could try to find out what that "beats audio" did. It's perhaps some kind of filter being on by default. You could see if you have something similar on your new onboard sound, but it just being off by default.

Stuff like beats audio is terrible anyway, try without it. You'll probably have better sound as long as you have basic drivers installed.

I'm going to buy a laptop and I would like to be able to play SC2 on it. The problem is I'm on a rather tight budget (500 euros max.), so I can't exactly afford a high-end notebook.
I'm not exactly a hardware whiz either, especially so when it comes to notebooks, so I'm asking for some advice. Would I be able to play SC2 with a decent framerate (I play on low settings, but ultra textures) on a laptop with the following spec?

Got back home after doing shit irl and run into another problem. After my windows update/sc2/obs downloading and installing, i shut down the pc for some irl stuff and when i returned the "ethernet vga adapter or something is experiencing hardware or drivers related problems" and it also wont let my pc shut down the regular way i have to cut the power to shut it down
anything sounds similar? mobo: gigabyte z87mx-d3h
Thinking it might be some drivers i downloaded from windows update thats not right? It worked just fine before those updates
How can I fix this? (googling it just gives me a crap ton of advertisement to where i can buy this mobo)
edit on my old pc atm D:. have access to 8gb USB if i need to move some drivers

Google for the error you see, not the board. There's also the Event Viewer that might show more about the error, perhaps some kind of code you can use to search for a solution.

My computer blue screened and I'm trying to figure out why. I looked in my "reliability monitor" and it has "A problem with your video hardware caused windows to stop working correctly." I just hopped back onto sc2 after being away from the computer awhile. I usually just tab out and leave sc2 running. What is recommended I do to find the problem? This is the first time this has happened to me and I've been using the GPU for just over 2 years with 2 different computers.
Edit: I'm on 314.22 drivers after having freezes with the newer drivers a couple weeks ago.

Windows keeps logs of things like blue screens. You can look at that in the "event viewer". You might see something about the cause.
There's also this program: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
It looks at the "memory dump" files that are created when a blue screen happens, and shows which module inside the kernel was running when it crashed. It could be some driver and the blue screen can be related to that driver being buggy or the hardware related to it giving trouble.

I've got open the Event Viewer but I've no idea where or what I'm looking for. I'll give the program a try.
Edit: Okay I've downloaded the program but I don't know what to do next. Any help?

Select the entry with the right date and time for the crash you want to know more about. In the lower half of the window, you'll see the modules that were loaded at that time. The ones with addresses mentioned were actually doing things as the crash happened. Use the file name to see what those modules are. Just google them. The NVidia drivers have a file name starting with "nv", I think.
