Please post this question in the computer build thread with the proper information required (e.g. monitor resolution, build time, etc). I would be very surprised if it ended up being much over $1k. Especially since the graphics card requirements for SC2 are a complete joke. Unless you're cruelly asking how to never dip below 60 fps @ ultra @ 1600p during 200v200 fuckfests, or something crazy like that :p Streaming on ultra can be pretty intense. I can play on ultra with 60fps, but if I try to stream above 480p, everything needs to be medium and some low, with stream at 30fps. Hardly anyone streams in HD on ultra, it's just not worth it.

You could push a lot better, won't disagree with that. But I'm also assuming he doesn't want any drop in gameplay quality at all. I could stream in 1080p if I wanted, but my game fps would be irritating. And that's not in ultra. Guess it also depends on whether or not he'd be willing to overclock. 2.5k bit of an exaggeration, but I still don't think the amount it'd cost would be worth it unless you're planning on making a heavy investment on streaming, like as a source of income with 2k+ viewers, hours streaming every day. Else it just seems like such a waste.

I do a fair bit of streaming and i am looking to upgrade my graphics card which is a Nvidia GTX 460. i normally get about 60 frames on medium while streaming. My Current setup: i5 2500k Processor (not overclocked) 8gb Gskill RAM @ 1333Mhz 2 x 24i Asus Monitos (1920*1080) Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 (Motherboard) If there are any other specs you need let me know ^_^ I want to be able to stream Sc2 At ultra graphics as well as play Diablo3 on the highest settings with a decent frame rate while streaming. My Budget is no more than 350 dollars AUD. i have been looking around at some video cards and here are some of the video cards i am looking at: Edit: if it turns out that these cards are not good enough let me know. MSI Radeon HD 7850 Twin Frozr http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_1373&products_id=19823 2 x ASUS GeForce GTX 550 Ti http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_1201&products_id=16985 MSI GeForce GTX 570 Twin Frozr http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_1177&products_id=19928 I was wondering is SLI/Crossfire would be advantageous for me because of the stream? or would it be better done with a more powerful single GPU. Also am i going to run into limitations of my mother board if i go to high end GPU? Thanks in advance for the help. - even link me to some reading material so i can learn this stuff better would also be very helpful ^_^

My 930 @3.8 w/ HT disabled for thermal headroom can do 720p 24FPS easily, and anything SB can smoke that clock for clock, with higher OCs easily.

What not to ask in this thread What is a good processor? (Situational) What does graphics card additional RAM do? (Google / Benchmarks) Help me find a computer for SC2 please? (Too generic) HP or Dell overall? (Survey / spam question) Computer build questions or computer upgrade questions should really be in the Computer Build Resource thread. ![]()

There isn't really a significantly better clock-for-clock processor out there...

How do sites like TL display which streams are live? Is it a simple matter a la embedding youtube videos, or does it take a great deal more effort?

I only recently built this computer, so I've been putting it off. My housemate recently overclocked his i5 and it ended up killing his computer and we had to reset the CMOS on the motherboard. Don't really have much knowledge about overclocking, so for now I just associate it with that.

Apparently they have an entire wiki devoted to it: http://apiwiki.justin.tv/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page Of course, every streaming website uses slightly different APIs to embedd the stream info.

Speedtest.net often chooses a mirror geographically close, might even be on the same ISP. Depending on where you are uploading to, the servers may be far away on a different ISP. Transferring data over long distances and multiple networks could result in lost packets which in turn can result in lower speeds. The network speed of the ISP for the server you are trying to upload to may also be slower, resulting again in lower speeds. But for the most part, you should get close to that 4.5Mb rate.
