You know what I want to figure out? Why Life, in anticipation of this arrest, asked to be traded (if that actually is what happened) from KT to Afreeca.

Where did MC say he was threatened? The only coercion I remember is that Yoda was blackmailed into continuing after he threw his first game, which I think MC commented on. Possible guitarizt is mixing the two together?

For me i meant, that people complain alot about the game being dead, and or they stop with watching sc2. So i thought why stop play sc2 if you like it so much? And if you a spectator, so am i as well as a player, then i would still watch. I find it crazy, but also understandable, but in the end when time passes, i hope those people who stop because of a few players in the past, will come back

Honestly, I'm beginning to believe that much of the "casual/spectator" (whatever you wanna call it) base was introduced to Starcraft through WOL, and like you, stop playing when spectating became more interesting.
However, i think over the course of HOTS and LOTV, the game way less casual/spectator and more of the hard core crowd. The skill ceiling has risen with each iteration (I suppose you could argue about HOTS bc swarm host.)
All speculation though.

Where is this info from that Life requested it? In the old thread about the trade the original version was that Afreeca had initiated it because they needed an ace and I tried looking through the thread but there was no references later, just talk of Life was the initiator on the last page.
In any case it doesn't have to have anything to do with the arrest itself or even matchfixing... You usually don't know in advance when you're getting arrested, right?

My theory: KT didn't want him on their team when the news broke, and Afreeca did them a favor.
Life "asked for the transfer himself " with KT looming directly over his shoulder and everyone agreed on what the story would be.

I mean its not really that farfetched to be a coincidence. Afreeca didn't have a super ace and would suffer for that and ST and KT have already done trades in the past.

No disrespect but doesn't that make you a player still? Even if you don't actively play currently, if you played the game before around 1 year I'm assuming because it was released in 2010 if I remember correctly. If you are talking about active players, there is no discussion about it majority of televised sports have way more viewers than active players, maybe with the exception of golf. However, if you consider how many of those viewers are viewers because they played the game when they were younger I think you will find more former/active players than viewers in most cases. alot of people follow sports they themself have not played, I know of a few friends who now follow fotball but never played it Alot of people don't follow sports they played as well. I believe the latter would outweigh the former.
Considering how many people played a sport just by any sort of break period, gym class, or organized by schools you would be hard pressed to find any male or female in America that hasn't participated in a casual game of basketball, touch football(football), soccer, floor hockey (hockey), and kickball (imo baseball). Those sports organizations NBA, NFL, MLS, NHL, and MLB are so successful in America because of the familiarity of the game to those consumers.

How long can they hold him, will they eventually post bail? It seems like he's been held a long time!
Also yeah the transfer to afreeca seems quite the coincidence, my pet theory is the coach's/team strongly suspected something was up and he asked for a transfer only for the house of Cards to fall around him. But who knows?! I hope he's innocent, until we find out more info tho from official sources our brain festers

i wonder if he'll publicly apologize like previous matchfixers and if he'll show he means it
also whether he will be fined (and how much) and/or given public service hours to complete

It was mentioned in the Life detained thread (that neither team knew anything about Life's impending arrest and that they did the trade on his request). I don't know if it was something Kespa said or something the teams said. So I guess you could take it with a grain of salt.

This says during investigation it's 48 hours without a detention warrant, 10 days with one and the prosecution can seek an extension of 10 days. More than that requires them to file an indictment and if they do you could be detained until the first trial (apparently typically 2-4 weeks but no guarantees): http://travel.gc.ca/travelling/advisories/korea-south/criminal-law-system
So I guess after 20 days we should know if criminal charges are raised against him.
