You're right, the ultimate goal is to make sure every unit is viable in multiple situations. He's also been continiously changing (and proposing changes) to Terran mech to see what works and what doesn't. There are no mech nerfs in this patch - it might be a small step and lacking in the design department, but we're certainly closer to mech being "fixed" (AKA tanks being viable in all match-ups) than pre-patch.

Yeah! Flash, Maru and Innovation are probably arranging a secret patch-party tonight celebrating how fun they will have for the next couple of weeks. Wouldnt be suprised if Flash sent his Golden Mouses to DK as a gesture of how thankful he is.
Ehmmm...

Haha its lovely that people are talking about tanks like its some new unit just introduced to us in this patch. "Hey go try the tank first" "try some new ways to play with tank!". Mutas are still buffed for hots. There are still alot of huge maps. Tank play is still as immobile as its ever been. Against muta ling/bane you will see terrans play exactly the same as they did before the patch. Despite the WM nerf you can still out micro the zerg. I suppose that means the WM is still imba.

WM is nerfed and its mechanical afaik

now the only thing is necessary is buffing thors (improve shoot speed or something)

Reading the comments from people in this thread....
Why are any of you butthurt about these changes at all? You do know that the NA region is a joke in skill compared to other regions right? So any idea of "balance" you might have is probably weaksauce. Until we start seeing NA foreigners dominating the esports scene, none of us have any right to say that these changes are retarded.
It's really no surprise that the NA region is bad at Esports. You're all too busy whining and bitching about mundane bullshit instead of figuring out what you can do to improve your game, explore new strats for your race, be a better gamer, etc. Nah, instead people give up and leave ship for another game. The reason why you find this game so frustrating when it comes to balancing, is because you suck, and that's because you give up at the slightest sign of resistance. "Fuck this game. So glad I installed DOTA 2, blah blah etc." Get over yourselves.
I can't believe people think the Siege Tank AS buff is weak. It just goes to show how out of touch most of these players are when it comes to long, thought-out, balance decisions. It's like you think Blizzard just dropped pieces of paper into a bucket with certain nerfs/buffs and picked a handful of them out.
IMO, you're lazy if you think these changes ruined the game for you.

I think you're a Protoss player I am probably right. Sad to say but the oracle change does directly affect players at a lower level cause lolproxyoracle. Sorry, that doesn't take Korean mechanics to proxy an oracle and kill a mineral line.

So sad! How many games have you played post-patch, and what league do you play in? My personal guesses are 0 and platinum Downfall and Avilo are grandmasters and they have pretty much the same view of TvP. go ask Bomber what he thinks of the MSC To be fair, Avilo is a good player but he's Doom n Gloom like, all the time.
amongst all of his excesses, Avilo does occasionally have a point.
did you see the game where Gumiho tried to play hellion transformation as an actual tactic? Artosis and Tasteless begin to laugh because this is how it was supposed in the HotS trailers. but in reality, it doesn't work.
www.gomtv.net/2013wcs3/vod/80859/?set=4 (13:45)
ground mode vikings vP is merely a formality when the game is already won. Bomber occasionally builds tanks for the singular role of securing a fast third base vZ, but they have seen no use as a core unit in vZ/P since the release of HotS. thors are too slow and expensive to be used for harass or even as a dedicated defense vs mass muta. It's a good time to try testing more radical things in the WCS off season. If not now, when??

Sorry that it doesnt take a Korean Pro-player to figure out how to counter proxy-oracles with smart gameplay. Just proving my point, dude.

Watching Nony play against mech a few game tells me the same problems remain, Immortals and Archons, especially warped in in late game, are really what breaks the camels back. Maybe adding some Banshees from mid game on...

Oracle speed has no effect on proxy oracles. Unless i am stupid player and standard play only gets 5 marines 3 seconds after new proxy oracle gets to base :D

Immortals will continue to wreck tanks in TvP, and let's not forget about the blinding cloud in TvZ... sure a timing will exist before the zerg can get vipers out, but it's not like we don't see a rush to hive in certain situations now..

Thors already have stupid dps, if they are going to buff thors it just needs to be a slight movement speed increase and make their attack animation less clunky

WM is considered the siege tank for Bio though. Doubt operating of one production facility will ever be possible. But I like that Factory+Starport works better now with the combined upgrades.

I actually like that the drop animation from a Medivac makes it only as chunky if not less. Thorvacs really feel like an anti air Reaver for me. I can even kite Mutas for a few seconds, which is just awesome ... especially if the Zerg a clicks the Medivac and the Mutas stack.

So sad! How many games have you played post-patch, and what league do you play in? My personal guesses are 0 and platinum I am a GM terran on EU and I feel the exact same way, and I can almost promise you a lot of good Terrans are cringing about these patch notes. I think active Terran players will drop to around 20% in a month or two :/ Is that 20% of the total population or 20% of the 15% that Terran keep claiming are on the ladder? Or are all these number made up because everyone is high on drama today.?
http://www.sc2ranks.com/stats/race
i'd suggest everyone waits until the ladder fills up again in a few days, but last season there were about half the amount of terrans compared to the zergs, and the zergs were about 2/3 compared to the amount of protosses.

I would love to see immortal shots get blocked by pdd to help mech out. Though they would have to make it immune to feedback as well. This change would be good to as it wouldn't affect TvZ.

Vikings with decent upgrades can zone out Vipers really well, so the combined mech/air attack upgrades should help meching players hold off Vipers.

Oracles doesnt need a speed buff imo, they gonna be so annoying in pvp and they were already fast

Acceleration increased from 2 to 3. poll is missing ;/
