This is way better than the previous change and should give protoss a fighting chance against late game zerg. That said, terrans will find this change extremely favorable.

In seriousness, I like this change. Archons and Thors can still be stopped but Collosi and Siege Tanks are no longer weak to them.

MUCH better change. Although, as Incontrol suggested, I would've been OK with NP costing 150 energy too.

I like their reasoning that you need good positioning to get it off. That's better than "let's make the ability completely and utterly nu

the worst part about this change is that its going to require very little micro to remove the NP if you have any colossi that are not snagged. either a-click on them just move them back and lol as the infestors swim around the back of your army in an attempt to get in range. combine that with some of the tight spaces on the maps and this is just not good. dont even get me started on trying to NP tanks or thors when theres a siege line in place.


seriously. good luck getting in range unless the other player is bad with their army control.

the burden of the NP should be on the other players to remove it as opposed to the zerg trying to get it. IMO, that completely removes the purpose of casting the spell in the first place.

reduce the duration or increase the mana cost.

I still don't like this change. I know a lot of protoss are struggling, but the end game of PvZ is still favored to Protoss; with good use of feedback or vortex in conjunction with colossus based armies, Protoss is very able to nulify infestors and go right back to the state of the Protoss "unkillable" army. That's not saying that the lategame protoss army IS unkillable, but really defensive minded protoss can and do still roll infestor based armies, and we still don't see a lot of protoss utalizing late game phoenix to GB infestors.

I just feel that this patch is being too hasty on these changes and catering to lower skilled players. A lot of lower skilled players got used to amoving a zerg and always winning and now it doesn't always work, therefore they complain (see most protoss responding to these threads). They're just making this matchup less interesting as it's going to be even easier to get to that "phew, I have enough shit, you can't kill me now" phase of PvZ that you can still get to in the current patch. Im not saying that ALL players struggling with infestors are lower skilled, but there are several good players who have found ways to deal with infestors (agressive h. phoenix scouting, blink stalker harass versus BL heavy play, defensive play mixxed with good HT or mothership usage, etc) and still make zerg look and feel unwinnable late game.

zerg spent a year trying to deal with one thing (mass colossus stalker) unsucessfully and now noteven 2 months of the infestor being strong and a ton of protoss (including community figureheads) are changing their stance from "our stuff isn't too strong, you're just not playing against it right, you need to give it more time" to "you're shit's broken, nerf it". This maatchup has ALWAYS been hard for zerg (even now) and they just keep trying to make it harder because of casual players, and that makes me sad.

Yeah because 7 range is melee range.

I'm pleased with this change, It makes more sense, it was nuts how far they could cast it, now the infestor is a little less safe.

Im glad that archons and thors will not be broken against zerg now, but

what to do about a protoss who feigns pressure to control the game into blink stalker-collosus based death balls?

It will be impossible to defeat a protoss on smaller maps who plays perfectly.

I'm actually more pissed than I was before by that change, because I think they would just change their mind and leave NP alone, but it seems like they will stay with that change in the final patch, I personally think the range made the spell already very micro-intensive to be landed correctly (by that I mean not losing a ton of infestors), but that only applies to the roach/infestor comp -who will now block them harder than ever- and not lings/infestor, so let's see how that will turn out, still an unnecessary change imho.
