Another Neural Parasite Change.

What they changed

They are going to nerf NP from 9 range to 7 range, and give back the ability to NP massive units. What does this mean?

Although still able to NP massive, Sniping the infestors will become increasingly easily. Stalkers can now snipe NP more easily, Collosi will be able to use their lazer lance to kill them before they get NPd and thors will also be able to kill them once they get in close enough range.

We thank those of you who participated in the 1.4 PTR and appreciate your feedback regarding changes to the Infestor unit. In response to that feedback, we have chosen a different course of action regarding adjustment of Neural Parasite. Rather than preventing this ability from targeting Massive Units, the range of Neural Parasite will instead be reduced from 9 to 7. We believe that this change will make choices regarding positioning and unit composition more important when using the Infestor.

This change will not be reflected on the PTR, but we wanted to ensure that you were aware of the new changes before the StarCraft II Patch 1.4 is live.

IMO they should have reduced the range of all of the Infestor's spells.

Well at least they can np massive units. Change should still help out p though with the decreased range.

Hrm.. there not uploading to ptr maybe that means patch soon?

Definitely a more sensible change, imo. I'm really glad they took back their first plan. I think I'd prefer a change in energy cost to a change in range, but both are way better than the alternative.

It will require more skill to use is what I read... yes people will probably bitch because its harder to use but in reality there are a lot of ways to get your infestors in close with burrow small zergling distractions and positioning that i think this will force zerg players to use. idk I think this will be blown out of proportion with how little of a nerf it is,

Ehh.. I guess this is better than removing the ability to target massive. Still I think it was fine the way it was before.

I think this choice is good and I'm glad they're listening to the community.

I'm not sure whether 7 or 8 range is the better course of action just because fungal was nerfed, but I can't see this totally breaking the game.

No more "Mass Infestor rape your army".

I do somewhat agree with this but I don't know what actual change it will bring to gameplay. Interested what players who mass infestor will do.

Are you fucking kidding? It's already NERFED to the point that you can't neural parasite COLLOSI or THOR because they're fucking MASSIVE. That's fine, wasn't going to research neural ever again since the original change. Here's to another reason.


Sad zerg player is sad. You already have a unit that does EVERYTHING and they nerf it => From most useful to most useless? gtfo.

Looks like they don't want infestors np'ing colosi or tanks, but rather immortals and thors to try and take out the longer range units. Also a big buff in HT vs infestor wars that were pretty tough. You still can't rush to ht to fight 2 base infestor because you won't have storm AND enough ht to deal with the infested terrans but the HT will be a lot stronger in the later stages of the game against infestors.

Im glad i started toss on PTR.
It was hard to get neural, now its even harder. I think they broke it anyway.

well I'll take this over not being able to target massive.

That's the same range as the thor's ground attack too so it will make it much harder to np thors in a thor/hellion push

Just goes to show how blizzard has a fundamental misunderstanding on how to balance this game. SC2 game design is just absolutely horrible for 2/3 of the game (protoss,zerg)

I believe the took back the inability to NP massive units and put this change into the ptr instead

Um did you read the change its a diffrent change you can np massive units now only the range will be changed.
