looks like the security deposit is worth more than the contract lol. a big oopsie by nasl. Actually the security deposit gives the contract worth. Break the contract, take money out of the security deposit.
it seems to me that they didnt pay the security deposit though, since they were complaining about it

I assume MC would have to adhere to SC2con's decission since he's still, at least partially, with oGs. I hope not though.
Call me a weirdo but I became a NASL fan with this dick move from the Koreans. I couldn't stand NASL when they acted all superior and proclaimed themself as the greatest shit in eSports...but there's something about underdogs and guys that been wronged that captures me. +1 fan.

If a Team liquid mod comes across this, can I ask if you've asked whether or not SC2Con is going to issue any statement?

I agree the fact that SC2 isnt as popular as SC1 in Korea as ppl expected, but at the same time SC2 will eventually grow larger as we get more ppl and more talent. that means games will be a lot closer or more entertaining with new strategies. remember SC2 is still a very young game, and still has a lot of potential in everywhere in the World. and thats including Korea also. but yes one of these day America or Europe will have as much or more pros and sponsors compare to Korea, not yet though... it will take some time, id say at least five years or longer
We already have more pros in the foreign scene. It's just that their pros have more skill. Skill gap doesn't diminish with more pros entering the scene, it diminishes when our pros get better and start rivaling theirs.

But I was talking about why the have the contract + the security deposit and how NASL wants them to work.

It's this mentality that's keeping the communities so seperate and encouraging top Koreans to switch to foreign teams.
...
Which top korean switched again?
IMNestea?
IMMVP?
OGSMC?
Last I checked, every single top korean is still in Korea on a Korean team prioritising tournaments in Korea. The hype for Puma is exactly the same as the hype for Dong Rae Gu, and we all know how that ended when he fought top people.
And Slayers pulled out too, citing it not being worth the cost, despite Slayers having tremendous success outside Korea (in fact, far more outside than they're having inside). Note they're not associated with SC2con, so it's not like this is smoke and mirrors.

Koreans or not, I'll still be enjoying the NASL. It might have an impact on the quality of the games, but it's not like European or American pros can't offer excellent play. And all this bs coming from Sc2con lately(with TSL and whatnot), makes me seriously question their ability to make good decisions.
With all their shortcomings NASL offered months of quality SC2 and that's what matters the most to me.

Probably, but I remain hopeful because at the beginning of the thread NASL said they emailed them about it, so obviously they aren't certain.

I so wanted to see MKP in nasl (well, not that much anymore as he plays like shit nowadays TT) and most other koreans. Hope the people that lost to them in the 2 open tourneys will take their spots. I'm very angry at the sc2con or whoever made this decision, which is nearly blackmail btw. ANGRY.

sc2con's statement:
Recent disputes regarding NASL were not led my sc2con, but individual teams. We believe teams are preparing to make a statement on this issue.
It is puzzling that NASL keeps mentioning sc2con. sc2con had no official communication to or from NASL.

For the Prime team it's not surprising, MKP has been invited and confirmed in like 10 foreigners tourneys and he ALWAYS has canceled at the last time. Dunno why people still invite him. Like he doesn't have enough money to fund himself...

Is there anything more to the SC2Con comment?
Any comment from NASL on why they are getting this wrong?
This seems very confusing to me and I think there must be something lost in translation or something.

I personally like the fact that there will be no Korean teams. I'm pretty much bored of watching Koreans win over and over again in pretty much every big tournament (MLG).
Koreans in foreign teams is another story though.

Hmmm.... SC2Con was mentioned nowhere in OP by NASL.
|
This whole thing sounds like collusion to me with whole teams deciding not to participate and making their players bound to it combined with gomtv leading the statements. Players can afford $2000 stipend just fine, especially guys like MC, Nestea etc but as a block they said no and pulled out despite contracts already signed and in place for season 2 to further throw NASL in disarray. Perhaps NASL was becoming a threat to GSL/GOM partner MLG who wants to be premier SC2 league in NA.
All those "complaints" were known before signing Season 2 contract. If you have issue why sign the contract in the first place? Renegotiating a signed contract with threats is cheesy as hell anyway but pulling out as a block really makes this look like something bigger is taking place behind the scenes.

It was mentioned number of times in NASL's reply.

We are disappointed that the Korean Committee waited until the final hour, not only to make these demands but also to notify us of their withdrawal.

dunno, the behavior of the korean teams in this entire ordeal seems to show they were acting in a unified manner, and involved all the member teams of S2con.... soooo I don't seen any effective difference, even if it wasn't "officially" an s2con negotiation.

If you don't know which team belongs to s2con, then perhaps you shouldn't say such things...
Edit: For others who might read this as well
s2con members:
FXOKorea, IM, MVP, NSHoSeo, oGs, TSL, Prime, StarTale, ZeNEX

On the other hand, players who played in NASL Season 1 didnt get their security deposit and pay check (from winning tournament). Also, SC2Con decide that except FXOKorea who emerged with FXOpen, all teams and players decide not to participate in Season ll of NASL .

Sounds to me like Sc2Con made a decision >.>
