I am happy as well.
Its NORTH AMERICAN starleague
not SKSL.
Now our american/european players will all have equal chances to actually win money
and make Pro-gaming in NA more attainable

It's not NASL's fault, but what you're describing is basically affirmative-action esports.

There are smaller tournaments where NA/EU players can compete for smaller prize pools. But with this much money on the line, it's a joke to not have the best players in the world competing for it.

This opens spots for good foreign players who weren't in S1.

Soo anyone else excited for the upcoming Linko vs Optikzero finals in NASL? Or some other random player vs random player finals?

Disclaimer: not dissing these players or anything, just would rather have people like Nada vs July or something in the finals.

Except it'll probably be something like Sen vs Puma in the finals.

If you can't appreciate that, your loss.

sucks for the players that their teams either don't want to or can't support their travel

good situation for any remaining Korean players that can actually play in NASL though

Aw, this is very sad for you guys, because this has costed so much work... T_T Sorry to hear.

I honestly see this as an opportunity for NASL though. I think the league would be vastly superior with just a few koreans. NASL wanted too much for an almost full online league. If you cut down on the amount of participants, NASL crew has a lot of free time available to put into the aspects that need improvement: production quality, stories, development.

NASL still has tons of awesome players. That many Koreans felt unnecessary and unfortunate to me, because that is what the GSL is for. It is not really fun to watch them play a league on awkward times, a league which they generally have no affiliation with whatsoever and probably do not really want to play, but are forced to because SC2 is not as big yet in Korea.

The top of NA and EU with a few Koreans mixed in would make a beautiful league. Hell, the Shoutcraft invitationals by TB already feel epic. I can imagine it being a huge disappointment, but this is also a room for growth. As long as there are not too many participants so the quality of the league suffers greatly. Go go NASL!

At least try to invite decent Koreans who are not in the mentioned teams.

IM is in the association. Not sure about the other teams.

ty, was about to ask that. This whole communication between korea and foreigns has been pretty shitty so far, aside from mlg/ gsl. Hope this starts getting figured out. I kinda think it's getting more reasonable to meet in person. Col did eventually, gsl/ mlg did, and of course FXO and fou did

well gl on your newest season. I'll still be watching

I don't understand why the business side of the disagreement has been posted on here. Feels like NASL is trying to get us to take sides. Doesn't seem professional that the offers and demands are being shown to the public.
Lee Jae Dong proved that a focus on mechanics and execution could solve problems in the StarCraft game strategy.

C'mon, Koreans aren't the only ones who can play SC2. Besides, a little change in the scenery might just prove beneficial.

I rather watch the best play rather than the semipros. But that's just me I suppose.

Are they supposed to be suspicious of other teams stealing away players while they are not in Korea or something? ;;

Dunno. I wouldn't be surprised if Korean teams saw what happened with TSL and PuMa, who is an amazing up and coming player, and are also factored that in. I don't think it's too big a deal, but every little factor counts.

NASL, can you please explain why you couldn't take the requested travel costs out of the prize pool?

Do you think it'd be fair to Europeans and Americans that the prizepool should suffer because they can't fund it themselves? I mean, if the travel money, etc. would be the same for everyone, then maybe. But if this was taken out only to fund the Koreans, then I'd see a big, big problem in this.

It looks like they were already willing to cut the prize pool. $2000 per player for the travel stipend seems like a lot even knowing how expensive travel from Korea to the US is, what were they requesting?

You could simply give the same amount money used to fund travel costs for Koreans as free prize money to the European and American players. And let's be honest, it wasn't like anyone but Koreans were going to get a piece of the prize pool anyway.

That's too bad. SC2 may be bigger in the west than in Korea, but it's not like our leagues are swimming in money.

Here's a quick band-aid solution: Sign more Koreans onto western teams. We still get Koreans, but now they're sponsored by foreigners.
