I've done a 3v3 where we vortexed a huge cloud of void rays, then fungaled and stormed them all. that was hilarious, even though we ended up losing (we were too far behind already)

What is the best way for protoss to hold off banshee tank marine all in, at the diamond level?

Did anyone notice the new feats of strength?

Lately I have this addiction of only killing my enemies workers. So I have been offracing as terran and I get a strange build with I build 1 rax, and then 2 --3 factories with 2 reactors and 1 techlab, go mass blue flamed hellions and suicide them to kill all the enemy workers(literally all of the 4 enemies). I build like 20-30 hellions lol.and use move command to get into their mineral line.
Now the funny thing. after killing all their wprkers. I just leave the game. I dont know whats wrong with me. killing drones is my fav part, since they make a screaming noise while dying..I really need to get over this addiction. I remember 2 months back I was so serious abt 1v1 that i used to watch vods and prac like crazy.. Damn this
Nothing wrong with having fun, nothing at all. There's no reason you need to be good on the ladder if you don't see any yourself -- you're not getting paid to play, after all.
But: You do realize that the only reason you can do your strategy and have fun is *because* you quit your games, right?
Because the more successful your strategy is, if it'd win you games, the quicker you'll face stronger opponents, and this will not work very often once you hit at a certain level. By just quitting you're much more likely to stay at a level where it works fine. (Since it's 4v4, your team might win anyway, and you'd get the points, but it's less likely after you quit.)

Why? Unless you're playing a tournament or practicing for one (or a showmatch, etc.), why all the performance pressure?
Nothing wrong with playing for the win without caring about anything else, but if you suggest that then I don't see where you'd draw a line if exploiting a bug works just as well.
Also, if you're looking for easy wins, cheesing is much more efficient than playing standard games (even while abusing terrain) on the ladder: You'll win even at high levels, and your games are shorter, so you get more wins/hour (which is good for your MMR as long as you're doing >50% win rate). And cheesing can get you into GM on NA -- you'll need good general skills to back it up, of course, but it's still easier to be good at cheese than to be good at standard games.
But there's nothing intrinsically "good" about winning. Play as it suits your motivation, don't play to meet arbitrary Blizzard-defined metrics (points, rank, league, MMR, etc.).
My best match-up by far is ZvZ, and I have a solid build I often use and understand pretty well. But sometimes I feel like having a laugh, and I'll play ZvZ with one-base muta expand (with at most 2 lings before mutas) for a while -- with no attempts to stop enemy scouting. It's a bad build, but I find it hilarious to do every now and then. It takes much more skill to win with than my regular build does, since you're so far behind that pulling off a win is much harder -- and it's not cheese, I make no attempt at blocking my ramp, proxying my spire, etc. I've learned a lot about sim cities while doing this, and actually about the matchup in general -- I have a much better understanding of the power of mutalisks now, as well as an understanding of how terrible they are if your opponent plays it right. While I already knew it in theory, playing from behind like this taught to understand intuitively how bad one-base aggression is for Zerg, because I'd see from the other perspective how easy it is to beat people whose attacks I held off -- even if I lost most of my drones in the process -- until my mutas popped. I learned a lot about how quickly ZvZ can turn if the player in the lead gets just a little too greedy, etc.
It doesn't get me all the wins, but damn it's fun to play, and I'd argue that my opponents enjoy these games a lot more than my standard build, which is much more abusive towards my opponent. (It punishes hatch first, punishes any drone micro mistakes, sloppy overlord scouting, and anyone who guessed wrong as to what I was going for, all while being relatively safe for me. It's not a cheese, but there's a few common ladder mistakes that make it an easy win for me.)

Can someone explain in one or two sentences, why does the whole TL so unprecedently love DongRaeGu? I tried finding it out myself, but anything that I could find was just out-of-context mentions or straight up praise for this guy who has no indivitual achievements at all. Is it all because of his performance in GSTL? Is it reasonable to extrapolate this to individual leagues (that are significantly different, at least in the way oponents are chosen)?

Cross-post from my stats blog:
So we are finally at the point where it is mathematically possible for all 32 of the original Code S players to have been replaced, and 2/3 of them already have been. He won the LG 3D Special League http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/sc2-korean/leagues/1534_2011_LG_3D_Special_League , which was especially memorable because it had a very competitive finals shown just before the 4-0 trouncing of MMA. Aside from that, all of his wins have been in the GSTL, where he has been a beast at 11-1. He is also 4th in ELO on the TLPD

Hmh, in 4v4 ( or maybe 3v3 also)..isnt 4x Terran with Fast Ghost MMM into Nukes imba?

Well after switching from BW/SC2 into CS:S and 1.6 I'm coming back home, can't wait to see how bad I get owned by the endless strats everyone has made up and has became popular in the last 3 months. Anyone else just coming back to the game like me? :D I'm a little sad though, the CS communities out there never did shit for me like everyone has in TL at getting good at a game, sad CS is slowly dying but damn with the attitude I got I'm not surprised average/new players have lost interest. Hello SC I missed you so!! Anyone recommend some GSL or MLG games I missed that are must see I've been out for a while?

I find it fun that after around 13 patches with protoss nerfs and other balance issues, people now think it's all set in stone, 100% balanced and that even considering something out of the box is a sin. Not that I really care, but I just noticed this trend the last weeks and wanted to share it
Also, some of the 4v4 maps ramps are nonsense. Blizz should check them because they make early lings way too OP.

Is really sad that next gsl looks like is gonna be "Terrancraft" except for MC, Nestea and Losira : (

anyone know what this maintenance is for? just bugs im guessing?

Why is is that Spine Crawlers cost the same as Photon Cannons (100+50) yet they are almost purely worse? Their DPS is lower on normal targets (although their bonus damage vs armored gives them a 16.2 DPS to the Photon Cannons 16), they aren't detectors and they can't attack air, forcing you to use more money for Spore Crawlers if necessary. They do have 2 armor instead of 1 and obviously they can be moved and burrowed (12 seconds required.) And honestly I don't think that offsets the negative attributes they have in comparison. This really deters me from using Spine Crawlers even though I know I might need some. Thoughts?

White people love DongRaeGu, because he makes sCfOu look like Combat-EX.

You should exploit bugs to win, see no farther than muta micro in brood war for an example. If its an obtuse kind of bug which is rigged it will be patched, if its the other variation, its smart strategy or unit innovation.

If the game was balanced on a unit-by-unit or structure-by-structure basis, all we would have is mirrors across the board. Glad it's not the case.

It looks to me like you're just ignoring whatever the value of being able to move them around and transfuse them is. Those two things add a lot to the value of the Spines.

is starcraft2 scene still growing? most of the stream I saw for past few weeks seem to have fewer viewer counts (IGN for example)
