This is one of my biggest problems with Brood War, too. Python Python Python Python Destination Python Python Python Destination Python Python Python.
I live in fear of the day TL determines the One True Map and that's all anyone plays.

i hope they can use the gsl maps....that way we can try playing like the pros, makes it more interesting in my opinion.... QQ
I wish they put the beach map and dual sight, and also crossfire. Hope they replace the new maps for last season or delta quadrant

It's fun to look at all the posts saying that these maps are terrible despite the fact that no one has explored them. Is it too much to ask that we wait and test them out a bit and see how the game develops on these maps? Maybe they aren't ground breaking but I'm sure they aren't as horrendous as some people are claiming.
You know, after playing this game for some time you dont exactly need to play on new map to decide how it will be for you. After seeing layout and extensive ammount of chokes/gold stuffs/destructable rocks on expansions i know those maps will frustrate me. Same way i knew Shakuras Plateu will be good after not even playing one match on it.

Personally the reason I hate made-by-blizzard maps the most is that I can´t train on ladder for tournaments. It is extremely discouraging having incredible timing on maps like Slag Pits or Backwater Gulch when I play tournament and hit map like Crevasse I didn´t play before.
I know, I can´t train on them with frieds and so I do. But imo ladder matchmaking system is really good and it would be nice to have a possibility to use it for that training.

Sweet, awesome maps. Especially the first one, looking forward playing on them. More variety in maps creates more variety in strategies, thus creating a more consistent fun game.

We do not know what balance changes the patch will bring. Perhaps it'll be an end to all rushes, who knows? If these maps are favouring one race, Blizzard is probably aware of it and intends it that way because of the numbers they see.

I'm glad the quality of maps is entirely based on how good they look.

After a solid second look at these maps, I find them a little less bothersome (I play Zerg btw):
Test 1: Not too bad, may have to sneak a main as a 3rd but the size of the map and open spaces could make that a little like Shakuras. The gold bases are an easy take for Terran, using mutas and drops is going to be absolutely necessary but still not a horrible map.
Test 2: Ok this map is silly, ZvT is looking like a nightmare as is 4 gate (warp in over the natural rocks?), the idea of a breakable wall and an exposed back of the natural on the same map is stupid. The third being shelled from the main is also insane.
Test 3: After looking at it for awhile ... this is just a better Metalopolis. The golds are more defensible, the close positions are less of an issue. Much like Metalopolis sneaking a main as a 3rd is sometimes necessary.
Test 4: Good macro map, third is not the easiest but then again I like being able to deny 3rds and dislike maps where they come free. Not thrilled at the 3rd and main being within tank range of each other but good muta use should make that risky enough.

This is the macro map for Season 3.
So there's only suppose to be one macro map per season? Seriously?
At least have 3 macro maps, so if you like to rush you can thumbs down them.
Also have a max of 3 rush maps.

4 looks good, 1 and 3 look average; we've seen a lot worse from blizzard, lava one looks absolutely horrible

Wasn't three of each their aim (don't have a link but I'm quite positive that's what they're aiming for). These are the maps they're adding, so presumably they'll take away ones in the current map pool to make up the number e.g. keep tal'darim and plateau, leaving three macro, and take away a couple of the other maps to make place for their new 'normal' and 'rush' maps.

Can you name and elaborate on at least some of the "stupid flaws"? I would like to see how you are more able than the Blizzard map design team. Why do you seek a rational thought in this rambling? Even if those were the best of GSL maps he'd still say the same thing.

these maps catered to casual players make it impossible for bad players who want to improve to actually improve because you never actually get to practice macro. I used to be low bronze and would be out of bronze had I not gotten too frustrated to play any more games for a 3 week period after being cheesed relentlessly

There is no 100% chance that you can even spawn in the said positions on Testmap4... it's not live yet. It could be just 3 spawns like shak.

I really wasen't that impressed, i think the season 2 maps we're much better. Thats just my opinion though

Then the rocks between close ground would make even less sence. The rocks are there to make the rush distance a little bit longer.

Why no love for island expansions
