I have the exact same feeling when I see it my counter argument to the point about the golds is to question if you really think golds should be "more" defensible. IMO golds should be pretty hard to defend to keep with the risk v reward scenario. Otherwise i wouldnt be surprised if this didnt replace metal as it is pretty similar, just a twisted middle sort of.

to be fair these maps look truly awful!!! Looks like more protoss favoured stuff in my opinion though i do think these maps will help terrans a lot it will be a lot easier to sim city but for zergs it will be a nightmare to get a 3rd and be in a stable situation without a lot of pressure.
All i can say is i am glad i switched to terran recently but even then i don't think these maps are any good. Blizzard needs to just let the community up vote maps and highest voted maps get into the map pool because their maps truly suck so hard. How long with it be until we see terminus or crevas or dual sight which are actually way more interesting to play on and watch.

is it just me or on the Lava Map wont the terran slow push be super hard to stop? it looks at tway to me

I think we should at least got these on PTR by now since Season 3 is apparently right around the corner.

I'm pretty sure the part about Mules being 'free' is not true. That makes it made-up. The fact that it's made-up and then additionally whined about in this thread makes it crappy.
And it completely ignores the larvae injects and chrono boosts counterparts. Both of which are immensely powerful. This whole thing of considering a mechanic in isolation smacks of immaturity and an unwillingness to take responsibility for their own losses.
If you play to have fun then stop moaning and have fun.
If you play to win then choose the best race and stop moaning.
It is really that fucking simple.

Wait, when is season three?
|
@Wolf
I would really like to know too!
It should start in a few days, because Season 2 started on March 29th, so 3 months would mean June 29th

But wouldn't that mean the leagues would be locking by now?

They were locked for a little while when FXO got here, but no longer are. Coincidence? I wonder.

July/august maybe? would semi-make sense if it was on the 1y anniversary.

not according to the guy who was complaining about the map looking boring and dumb

according to the guy complaining about how the map look it is

Wow, that's interesting.
Well, why would they unlock it for FXO? So they can get from Diamond to Masters in KR?
I guess it's gonna come sooner than expected :D
( i won 9 games in a row, still not playing against slightly favored, lol wtf, even though I don't think this has to do with locking )
Edit:
I've been thinking about it more, unfortunately Shifted Sky actually doesn't seem to have longer close positions than Metal But it's hard to tell. Also, the cross positions aren't much further away than close positions, unlike Metal, where the position of the gold bases make you walk so much further.
But at least Shifted Sky has that lower third area, meaning the defender on close positions can defend there at the high ground, giving you a small defender's advantage.

I like the new 1v1 maps, not so keen on the 2v2 maps, since I'm not a fan of the shared maps in 2v2. Coming from a top 10 NA 2v2 player, these shared base base maps tend to favor PT teams and make them nearly invincible, as they can turtle with impunity

@zmansman17
Thanks for your input, I have almost no idea how high level 2v2 is played xD

These maps look terrible.
Test 1: Has so much extra land to elevator push into the main and how do you take a third base?
Test 2: There are outcroppings that can be dropped in the main and be used to siege up and shell the third and natural and can only be engaged from the front are ridiculous. Oh, and we can't forget the high ground over the third that can be used to shut down the third.
Test 3: Another map with a hard to take third and stupid short rush distances in close spawns.
Test 4: I look forward to having terrans siege up the main from the third of the clockwise base. You can abuse that to push across with tanks on one side and just slowly push into the main. Also, might be short enough to warp in across.
As a zerg player all these maps look abusive to me with hard to take thirds or terrain that is easily abusable.

Interesting looking maps, I look forward to practicing on them but am worried I won't do well with only 4p maps in ladder, but either way I'll learn something new so I'm cool with the change.

Sigh, 3 and 4 player maps still suck T.T

I respectfully disagree.. I like how the natural is very easy to defend (Looks like a 5hex choke and no room behind mineral line), but the third base is going to be hard as fuck to get down.. In cross positions, for instance, with those rocks there, you will be super fragile to attacks by either taking the 5/11 or your gold.. I know you can sneak a main but that shouldn't be necessary even in cross positions?
Guess we'll have to see how it is to play on..

These maps are awful, I wish Zerg was allowed to take a third, close air or cross metal is great, I wish most maps could play like that or tal darim without the rocks at the third.
