25 bucks is cheap... Gretorp and Incontrol kick ass You pay for cable tv and watch commercials and at least these commercials actually go to supporting something awesome rather than a tv station or whatever... NASL has some of the best star2 players from all over the world. Stop acting like jelly bitches and support what we all love<3

I understand the doubt after the terrible (as we shogun 2 players say: SHAMEFUL DISPLAY) MLG set up - but why all the hate? The NASL sounds like it could be a really big thing for e-sports in the west and Geoff and co have been very brave to take things on and sink their own time and resources into setting things up. They have sponsors, they have venues, they have good players from reputable teams (who wouldn't let em sign up for a mickey mouse bogus bullshit league - it would get in the way of other things) who also had to invest time and resources into this.
Incontrol has done some good casts, he's quite charismatic and knowledgeable even if his style isn't quite up my street. Gretorp is just frickin' cool as a commentator too - great voice for it :D But I have only seen him do so a few times. I hope there are back up plans for things like illness and personal emergencies, the guest featured casters sounds cool - I expect to see a few household favourites as the SC2 community is closeknit and alot of people work together in such things.
20-25 bucks is nothing and three months jam packed with games is great value. Even to those on limited income. And if it's too expensive for you: - a) it's a free stream and b) stop watching starcraft and get a job! Yes, we do need to see extra support for paypal etc as is the norm, but that will come later I guess, they'll flesh it out - spend some time keeping the website/twitter stuff up to date.
I don't follow the GSL that much, but I think it was a valid point of having half esports fans following one league and the other half following the other - and weakening both as a result. I simply don't know what to say about this. I'm sure it won't be that bad, I can watch both the UFC and the boxing. If there are lots (too many???) of matches on between them. Then I'll be spoilt for choice and I can either watch the vods or just chose not to watch a particular match - seeing as I'm getting so much for my $25 that it won't kill me to miss a few.
I dunno... My thoughts. But yeah - and why the hate on adverts on a FREE stream. I'd say you don't get something for nothing - and we've already been spoiled by the preshow and all the other stuff going on.

Based off of the show match, no, I will not be buying a pass. However if I hear that they get their shit worked out, then I will go ahead and purchase one. I don't trust them @ this point.

LOL ok so you go and make a casted showmatch(in a studio not just using livestream procaster) work out perfectly on the 1st try
Lets see how you do

They've said the showmatch shouldn't be used as a high benchmark to what NASL will actually look like. So yes, the most logical decision is to wait and see how it turns and then buy the season 1 pass.

I'm really shocked at the amount of people paying for this to be honest. It seems more like a donation to me - people are paying for something they want to see succeed, not because they're actually get $20 worth of value from it. I found the showmatch production and casting lackluster, and I have no evidence that it's improved. If NASL Day 1 is a homerun, I will gladly buy the premium ticket as a way of supporting a team that deserves it. But I won't preemptively give a charitable donation to support Esports when they really haven't done anything yet.

No one expects everything to work perfectly on the 1st try. That's why any semi-professional broadcaster will have test runs and dress rehearsals. Practice and learn in private, not in front of your audience. When the public sees the first match next week, the NASL team should have already practiced on 20+ showmatches.
NASL isn't just a one-off show match. They are planning to broadcast ~1000 matches over the first three seasons. Getting it right from the start would be a huge plus for them.

after the diaster of MLG, NASL has a huge opportunity to hit a home run. I will definitely buy a ticket after the first couple days to make sure NASL doesn't go MLG on us.

I just hope NASL is backed by a strong broadband provider. Are they working together with justin.tv or something like that? Streaming on their own server seems dangerous...
They're using justin.tv, and streaming a live LAN event from a convention center is really not comparable at all to what NASL are doing. Should be fine.

Would you say against your boss "yea boss i fucked up this time, but at least i know that it doesn't work that way" Point is, the showmatch was to announce the whole NASL and they should have taken that in account. Like it or not but a first impression is something VERY important everywhere.

Its cheaper than GSL on a month by month basis, and it supports e-sports growth. If 20 bucks is too much for 3 months of entertainment you need to move out of your mommy's house and get a job. You mean the world championship where all non-korean players lost their very first bo3 against the koreans? Except Dimaga of course, who lost in the second round. The non-Koreans did well in the team league, but I thought the general consensus is that a bo1 is too volatile and says very little about the skills of the players involved in it.
The general consensus is the skill gap between the foreigners and the Koreans is quite small at the highest level of competition. This isn't BW where the Korean's were clearly superior at the game in every way, shape, and form. They did fine in the world championships and they've knocked out all but a few in the TSL. The level of play isn't worlds apart.
Yes, the prize money is higher in the GSL. Does that really effect anything whatsoever? Sure if the NASL was giving away keychains as prizes that would be a problem. But its giving away 100k for a 3 month season vs 80k for a 1 month season. Who cares?
You've proven in our prior engagements to be a die hard Korean player/GSL fanboy. (You wanted 50 Koreans in the NASL). Continuing to argue will be pointless I suppose, but unlike you I'd like to see the NASL be as big as the GSL in the coming months (and hopefully years). Of course you will quote this and explain to me why Koreans > everything.
|
I won't spend even a dollar before I see the production, just like I didn't spend anything on GSL before I knew it was good. Not because it's money and I'm greedy, but because it wouldn't even be worth my time. However if it's good stuff I might as well pay 25. Will wait a few weeks and see the response.
|
I'm excited about the NASL; however with the way the MLG went, I won't be holding my breath.
I won't be forking over the dough yet, either. I want to wait and see if this thing actually works.
What worries me most is that they don't seem to know when they intend on starting the season, which is a big deal to me since the 'start date' is something like 'this week or next.'

Bought my NASL pass, can't wait for it to start!

This has nothing to do with "if I could do it"
The fact is they made a horrible first impression when they knew it was a big deal. I never even said that I refuse to buy one, I just said that I am going to wait until I know FOR SURE that the quality is all it's cracked out to be.

Is it changed now to no commercials if you buy it or was that just a ninja edit

"AND HES ATTACKING HIS NATURAL! OH MY GOD"
-while the video is 10seconds behind and we see him building more scv's....
the showmatch ruined it for me, was very very unprofessional and it was the only thing to base an opinion of nasl on besides their god awful website...
|
So pumped for this to start next week. [had thought it started this week. but, I guess that just gives me a week to get caught up on my school work before diving back into SC2 tourneys].
|
I'll wait and see first after the MLG fiasco. I bought a HQ pass then and got burned worse than a marine by a brue frame herrion. Incontrol as a caster is awesome I must say though. Funny guy.
Why do some people say they won't be paying for this and act like they are mighty proud of that? Cheapskates.
|
Probably would pay if i felt like NASL was actually a real league.
I don't feel paying for something I know nothing about and less if It has huge promises, and making it 5$ less for preorder is really shady, since I feel like its a money grab they need to get the studio working. So far there has been nothing except an annoucment and a website. There is no commitment.
Where is the prize money coming from? how it it funded? is it only funded through the ticket sales? Whos backing this thing up?
How are they dealing with the replays and game history?
When is this thing even suppose to start? if i buy a ticket shouldnt i know when the show is? Dates, Times, schedule etc. (none on the website or official thing)
Where is the studio? can we get a camera into the studio to show the hard work you guys are doing?
I feel like NASL could just be 2 guys commentating on youtube, is that what this is? You have promised that this is better than that, but I havent seen anything. YET.
