I am not very big I guess. I am able to do just 2 1 arm pullup (only with my strong arm, none with my weak :p) while I can do 27 regular pull ups. Seems odd to me too. A person's weight is probably an important factor in the 1 arm pull up thing as well. I'm 5'8'' and weigh 160 (low body fat)

I am trying to gain some weight, been working at it for a few months and I have seen some results. Best to just keep at it and don't expect large gains to come quickly. if your talking about the video where he says you can only expect to put on 5 lb of muscle in a year even if you work out perfectly 6 times a week and go really hard, i just wanna let you know what he says there is total bullshit. Well its not bullshit because if you really do workout 6 times a week for an hour and a half each time you probably wont put on any muscle at all because you will just kill your body. Muscle is gained while recovering and if you arent already an experienced bodybuilder on steroids then theres no way you can recover at all working out 6 days a week. However if you lift hard and heavy and do the big lifts like squat and DL 2-3 times a week and you eat enough calories/protein you can gain WAY more then 5 lb of muscle in a year. In fact ive put on almost 20 lb of muscle just in the last 6-7 months and honestly i didnt even know wtf i was doing until about 2 months ago

And doing squats, power cleans, and deadlifts feels so strange to me still. And I've been doing them for about 6 months. I guess that's expected, though, as I've been doing bicep curls since I was 14. My squat form is solid and safe. Deadlift I'm confident in. Power clean... hmmm truth is I don't know. And I'm not sure any more reading will help me. I think I'm doing them right. And considering my back is locked in when the bar is below my knees, and I rotate my elbows to get the weight off my wrists at the top, I guess I'm not hurting myself. So there's no downside to doing them. Though I'd kill to have a coach tell me "you're doing it right!" I'm considering adding in cardio on off days. But I'm already feeling so good I wonder if its necessary. And when I do run on nice days it feels so easy! I'm >6'1 btw (people always tell me I'm taller than that though, but I haven't measured) and n0ow I'm in the 220s. I used to be about 240. I feel really healthy. I'd like to get below 200 though. yeah man i just started doing starting strength a little less then 2 months ago and man i love it so far. Theres no better feeling then adding weight every time you workout.

I've started attending health club like 2 weeks ago and it's really fun (it's a bit embarassing to pull very low weight but not that someone cares). Working to gain muscle mass as I'm way too scinny (fast metabolism probably). I have some questions though: 1) When you do 3 sets of 10: if you do last set 10 times than you can do first set more for sure, so shoud you do like 14-12-10 or only 10-10-10 or 12-10-8 (10 in average)? 2) A lot of guys in the gym drink protein coctailes from protein powder. My friends urge me not to but as far as my search in internet has shown it is not more unhealthy than drinking coca-cola. Can drinking protein cocktailes have some nasty side-effects?

Is there any way I can strengthen my wrists so lifting weights is not so hard on them? Play more starcraft? Joking. On the other hand typing a lot does put wrists and fingers under constant pressure which should make them stronger. Other than that: there are more than a hundred exercises - just pick the ones that don't involve much pressure on the wrists. P.S. I have very small wrists and palms too.

A glass of milk with protein powder is SIGNIFICANTLY more healthy than fucking coca-cola, which is garbage for your body.

Maybe Using wristbands will help relief the pain in your hands (they make a little pressure on your wrist, and you feel not as much pain. I used to wear them all the time when practicing (more like OVERpracticing drums) and I went from really bad, to very good, really quick.) Try that.

I think the cheapest source of protein available would have to be canned tuna, or eggs. See if you can get either in bulk. Go to a local farm and buy tons of eggs, or buy 100 cans of tuna on special.

It talks about realistic muscle gains and what your body is capable of, its quite funny reading the article now and reading the first post on some of the muscle gain goals. http://www.tmuscle.com/portal_includes/articles/2006/06-154-training.html
