Not sure how Villa plan to fit him in, but Gerard must have a good idea, and has first hand experience of what his strengths and weaknesses are.

It really hurts knowing that I'm not wanted in football.

But especially at the amateur level, it feels wrong to exclude people, completely, from all leagues. How would you say you compare strength and speed wise to cis women with the same amount of experience (over the years)? There should be a place for everyone to play.

It doesn't matter that estrogen eviscerates our muscle mass and that we have to keep our testosterone far lower than cis women, negating every supposed "advantage" we have. I see thousands of upvotes for comments saying how awful we are for wanting to just play sports, so now trans women can't compete anywhere. It really hurts knowing that I'm not wanted in football. That sucks, the estrogen/testosterone thing is not common knowledge at all (which is a large part of the problem) but you would expect official sports commissions to be informed enough to at least mention why they didn't think that argument was convincing enough.

That’s surprising, is this in general or in the professional women’s game? Googled but couldn’t find this story. I’d hope that amateur teams, college teams or whatever could themselves be inclusive off their own bat. The frustrating part about this issue, is so much of the opprobrium comes from people who do not give a solitary shit about women’s sport. They’ll actively mock the woman’s game at every chance they get, until a trans person is involved, then immediately the integrity of the women’s game is sacred. I’m unsure of the timeframe, it does seem, from what I’ve read to be the case that over time any initial advantage is eroded for the reasons that you’re stating. I’m unsure if say, I started transitioning tomorrow how long it would be until I wasn’t considerably stronger than the average 31 year old woman, but eventually that would happen. Unsure of the specifics, but I understand the concepts. Having denser bones, which are a bit more resilient than muscle to oestrogen wastage as far as I understand, isn’t exactly an advantage in sport in the way muscle density is. I could see a case for a person living as a woman but not having started physical transitioning not playing in a women’s side, but I don’t see the safety/competitive balance argument really applying for someone suppressing their testosterone to levels beneath not just men but cis women

Case in point some women sports (even college levels) being dominated by transgender people.

I regularly follow trans women in sports and the only person I know of that's happening is a college swimmer. It's massively overblown. Additionally, the testosterone puberty having effects that are permanent is something that is also heavily overstated. I need to pull up some studies but especially in football, I don't see any case of trans women dominating. I read about a football team with a trans woman being told by their opponents that they had a massively unfair advantage despite the team with the trans woman losing 7-0

I've been to Harriers' ground a few times when I was younger. I used to kick around with Nuneaton Borough back in the day and was their mascot a few times. I think they played Kidderminster a number of times back then in the 90s. From what I remember their ground was little more than a garden shed and a field at the time lol.

[Endika Río] Raúl García (Athletic Bilbao): “For me, playing the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia doesn’t make sense. It’s a Spanish trophy that we play in a foreign country. Football changes and we no longer think about supporters. Now it is important to generate [money] and we forget the basics."
