yeah seriously.. It's not like playing for Manchester United is such a terrible position to find oneself in anyway. And football players have limited careers, they almost always want to play as many games as they can.. Especially a player who wants to establish himself as Spain's #1 gk, both for Spain and for RM, is not going to just be like, naw, I'll only bother playing at 80% of my level for the next 4 months.
I can understand a manager/coach not wanting to use a player who is going to leave soon anyway - I can even understand fielding a slightly worse player who is going to be at the club for a long time over a slightly better player who is leaving soon, because the slightly worse player's improvement hinges on play time. Thus I can understand that this would suck for De Gea, and that Van Gaal prefers to use Romero if he is included in the long term planning of United even if De Gea is considered slighty better. But from De Gea's point of view, he just has to play his heart out if he wants to be the first choice now, and he has to be the first choice to keep on improving to reach his potential..
I guess there's an element of injuries here, like a player who is going to leave the club soon is less likely to commit to a challenge likely to leave himself injured, but honestly, it really doesn't happen often that a player takes a challenge thinking that this is gonna leave him on the sidelines for a couple weeks or months..

I have no doubt that De Gea is a professional and will play at his best. I'm questioning van Gaal's desire to field him. Of course the best for his team, from our perspective, will be to field De Gea every single game, because he is the better player... But we don't exactly know what van Gaal is thinking. He is known for his unorthodox decisions.

haha then again berahino came and took a glorious piss all over my argument
but then again he also just showcased that he's an idiot, and I'm pretty certain he reduced his marketability significantly.

+ Show Spoiler +UNITED STATEMENT ON DE GEA TRANSFER
Manchester United notes Real Madrid’s statement on the attempt to sign David De Gea and sell Navas to Manchester United. The club feels compelled to provide some clarification with the following facts.
- Manchester United did not seek contact from Real Madrid for the sale of David. David is a key member of our squad and the club’s preference was not to sell.
- No offer was received for David until yesterday.
- At lunchtime yesterday, Real Madrid made its first offer to buy David. A deal was agreed between the clubs, which included Navas being transferred to Old Trafford. The deals were dependent on each other.
- In the last several hours of the process, with Navas at the Real Madrid training ground, Real Madrid were controlling the documentation processes of David, Navas and Real Madrid. Manchester United was in control only of the documentation of Manchester United.
- Manchester United sent transfer documents for both players to Real Madrid at 20:42 BST. David’s documentation was returned by Real Madrid to Manchester United without the signatory page at 22:32 BST.
- At 22:40 BST, minutes before the deadline, major changes to the documentation came through to Manchester United which immediately put the deals at risk.
- Only at 22:55 BST were the documents that are needed to cancel David’s contract received by Manchester United from Real Madrid.
- At this point Navas’ documentation was still not returned by Real Madrid.
- At 22:58 BST, the transfer agreement was sent back by Manchester United, uploaded onto TMS and accepted – all before the deadline.
- It is our understanding that the deals couldn’t happen because:
Real Madrid didn’t upload David’s documents onto TMS in time (Manchester United did)
Real Madrid didn’t upload David’s documents to the Spanish league in time, per reports it seems some 28 minutes after the deadline
- The fact that Manchester United filed the papers on time was acknowledged by the Football Association, who offered to support that claim in any discussions with FIFA. The club offered this assistance, as well as its own timestamped documents to Real Madrid but they have chosen not to go down this route.
Manchester United acts appropriately and efficiently in its transfer dealings. The club is delighted that its fan-favourite double Player of the Year, David de Gea, remains a Manchester United player.

So any more excuses that Wenger can pull out of his you know what? Even the most die hard Arsenal fans are seemingly pissed.
|
Anthony martial might be a buy with the idea of pairing him with Depay with his speed on the wing. Manu didn't have another pacy am to burn fullbacks and draw in centerbacks. It could and I say could really unlock rooney and Matti up the middle.
Lot of money to buy for someone when they agreed to loan Falco and Falco was a more finished product. English transfer is a real thing I guess.
I'd expect De gea is thinking of either holding out till winter or put in one more year at united to cash in on the Bosman market.
|
I mean, playing bad on purporse for De Gea will only affect him
Unless he signs another contract with United, they are losing nothing but De Gea might be losing on his supposed salary, i believe one bad season could affect this outcome
|
Watch out for Michail Antonio. West Ham signed him for £7m from Forest today. He's got loads of pace, and is a very strong runner down the wing (similar to Bolasie). He's got a great finish on him too.
|
so united bought Martial for 80M wtf ? are they crazy ?
