harden 14.7 Role players 6.6 Jeremy Lin 15 that jeremy lin contract ~_~! Houston's role players aren't terrible.. Patrick Beverly is nice, Terrence Jones and the Eastern Euro guy aren't bad. They could unload the others though. Can they dump Lin to Philly tho?

Actually I'm shocked Harden is only getting paid less than $15 million. (Why did he leave OKC again?) Their roster is as thin as the Heat's once you get past those players. I keep saying this but the max contract isn't the same for all players, it's based off on how long you've been in the league. Harden is getting 5/80, which I believe is the max for him but if it's not it's close. The reason LBJ/Bosh/Wade/Melo can get more is because they've been in the league longer. Their max contracts are all worth more than Harden's max, or for that matter Hayward/Parson's max, which is why people saying "if LBJ doesn't get the max idk why Hayward/Parsons would" isn't a good comparison because one player's max is cheaper than the other. (If those players are worth their lower max is another discussion altogether). http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q16 for the precise numbers re salary caps.

Regardless, 15 million seems excessive for Wade (but maybe not his ego) and reasonable for Bosh. You could just pencil in James for Howard, Wade for Harden and Bosh for Bosh.

I was thinking about the Heat's FA stuff earlier and I think they know what the big 3 are gonna do, and at this point I think they're staying. Otherwise why would you spend your money on Granger and McRoberts if you potentially had hella cap space and no stars? If they didn't know what the big 3 were gonna do I think they'd save their money and either tank for the next round of huge (read Durant's) free agencies or start going after Stephenson/Parsons etc.

I've read about the NBA League Pass, is that what I should look into? Here I guess it's last year's pass. Is it really 20$ per year because that's pretty cheap. From what I recall it was much more expensive than that.

The best analogy for what Morey's done in Houston is an indie band that kind of hit a ceiling in terms of critical appreciation, and now wants to see how successful they can be by putting out more mainstream material. Overachieving and landing an #8 seed with a roster of nobodies is cool for a couple years, but ultimately you (and your boss) want something more. Now they've got big names, they're selling tickets, they're hovering in top 3-5 in the Western Conference, and there's a buzz around their franchise. Plus, at this point, there isn't anyone in the league that doesn't appreciate analytics. It's hard to imagine that Houston is operating with much of an information advantage. It's also hard to tell how many of their shortcomings are due to coaching/system.

And I don't understand what account it is linked to, too.

If he were to leave for another team I think he'd take on a larger role and do more/earn the money. The only problem with this is that LeBron said after the Finals that the Heat need to upgrade their personnel if they want to get over the hump and compete with the Spurs. Signing Lowrey or Gortat would've qualified as the type of game changer LeBron was talking about. But obviously, Wade and Bosh weren't going to take the kind of paycuts necessary to free up that kind of room. So now, all the Heat can do is sign marginal guys like McRoberts and Granger. Those signings don't move the needle. And it's impossible to see how The Heat can really improve upon last year's team at this point. The forecast for the next 4 years is more of the same, but with declining age and ability. If LeBron goes to Cleveland, they'll almost certainly still finish #1/#2 in the East, and the young team has room to grow and develop.

I'd really like to transition from watching video games back to watching a lot of basketball next year. "I love this game", as they say.
