I wonder how Lakers' fans opinions of Dantoni have changed, given he's basically the same coach. He just has his type of players this year.

I'm not a Laker fan, but I don't like Dantoni as a coach because he refuses to adapt his game to the players he has around him. Instead he forces players to mold to his system, thats not the way professional sports should work. Also he quit on the knicks (im not a knicks fan) but I would never hire a quiter.

My expanded opinion is back a few pages. I hated the D'Antoni hiring especially if Phil Jackson was available, and I do not personally believe that Mike D'Antoni's 7SOL style of run and gun play can win a title and I especially hated the idea that that style could somehow work with the team the Lakers had assembled last year. This year however, Kupchak and D'Antoni have done a terrific job of making good things happen out of a terrible situation. This team is fun to watch, they play hard and they are holding their own in a tough Western Conference. Credit is due all around, D'Antoni deserves his share for sure.

To D'Antoni's credit, he has adapted remarkably well with this team over the course of the season. I said so back a few pages. He was pissing me off when he was doing shit like starting Shawn Williams and Wesley Johnson as the 4. His adjustments working especially working around injuries are commendable. My biggest fear with D'Antoni was that he would be inflexible and thus far this season those worst fears have not been realized. Whether by necessity due to injuries to the starting line up or his own vision we have had many different line ups this year and guys now especially off the bench are flexible enough to play 2-3 positions, which has been a lot of fun to watch.

Pop definitely changes his style but he's also plugging players in. Every coach in the league has a system. I don't know why thats an indictment on D'Antoni who's been extremely successful. His worst trait is his regular season rotation if anything. @Vindicare: D'antoni hasn't run SSOl in years. Never ran it in New York or LA.
