I shows how twisted the Chelsea managerial merry-go-round is when you think that winning the first silverware of the season at a canter is "more questions and more pressure"...
So beating a championship team 2-0 in a cup competition having 3 shots with only 3 on target with 60% possession is defiantly a chance to get some jibes in :D
That Wigan team didn't possess anything going forward and still only shipped 2 goals and didn't look over run at any time
Swansea will pose a thread on Saturday im sure you know, will be quite entertaining first few games for YANITED. Chelsea will haved played 2 by the time they go to Old Trafford and they could help us fitness wise. Could be played 2 lost 2 for Moyes

The game couldn't even be compared to a training exercise it was that bad. United wasted time playing it.
1. Make a statement, beat Wigan, really beat them make other teams think oh wow United are ready for the season (would of been done so with a 4/5-0 win maybe more)
2. They treated it as a pre season game and the 30,000 Man Utd fans that went to watch it were suckered into watching a pre season friendly at a heavy price (travelling from Man Utd to London, paying London prices etc)
Looks like they choose option 2. Not the right one imo, Swansea will be right up for that game after seeing that

A championship team that recently beat man city, and also have as much silverware last season as man city and Chelsea combined lol.
Well if your saying that the FA Cup ranks the same as Europa League then Wigan also had the same amount of trophies as Man Utd..... But yes the won a trophy but they are now in the Championship with teams like Bournemouth and Yeovil Town. They have lost their top scorer and struggled to score without him, they also lost their best manager and replaced him with Owen Coyle who is the complete opposite to Roberto Martinez XD Which was proven with his first buy of the season being Grant Holt XD
good pre-season from Alexis, the top goal assister in the pre-season (6, one more than Messi). Some goals, and a lot of hard work defending and pressing. If he continue this way, he should be in the main team above Pedro and Tello.

Well the top 4 that qualify for the champions league, aka a league above the Europa league are in the FA cup. so the higher rounds are usually more competitive. Chelsea didnt have to face an opponent close to man city standard, unlike wigan. And actually i think most of the top 4 would rather win the FA cup, since Europa is a losers cup for those not good enough for the champions league.
LOL So winning the FA Cup qualifies you for which cup? Europa isn't loser cup to the teams who genuine qualify into it and take it serious, and it is a European competition none the less playing teams from across Europe.
But anyway not the point. Wigan are still in the Championship, have lost their only goal scorer and the new manager has a completely different philosophy to the predecessor. I see that as a missed opportunity for Yanited to run riot on them and send out an early statement to other teams.

I'm not saying that Moyes is going to be good, maybe he won't, but this is a typical statement from someone who i assume hasn't followed football for very long. I say this because you don't seem to appreciate how rare it is a team runs riot on another and scores a silly 6/7 goals that i guess you and some of the media expected of a Moyes team. In reality you have to be consistently winners not consistently "running riot" and "sending messages", the reason why Liverpool and arsenal have struggled. Playing beautiful football and quoting possession stats means nothing if you don't produce results. Thats why Wigan won, they didn't play in a way than ran riot, they just knuckle down and ground out two good results against everton and man city. My point being that football is about winning not playing in an eye pleasing way, and is the reason you get so many upsets in cup competitions.

As if any Man U fans travel from Manchester lol. More like most of them were already in London, or travelling from Japan, Europe etc.

Maybe its the joys of being a Chelsea fan. But i have followed football for years, since 1995 to be exact. There used to be a time where during the early-mid 2000s where alot of 0-0s happened or 1-0s or 2-0 was a good win. Now though the game has evolved so much and the wins are big. Chelsea went on a 6-0 6-0 6-1 win in there opening 3 games under DiMatteo not that long ago. Also under Ancelotti then went 6s in 3 out of 5 games. But thats not the point, the point im getting at is teams still lose by big ish score lines, but even if they don't its normally a barrage of shots. Yanited had 6, with only 3 (maybe 2 if u count the RVP 2nd goal was a block/deflection) that is not someone that is outplaying another team. That to me statistically wise shows the game was a midfield borefest which it was. Was an awful, i had more fun watching Leicester vs Leeds afterwards which finished 0-0, atleast there was lots of action.
Answering your points; Liverpool struggle due to their poor squad, they had 2 world class players, maybe 3 now Countinho is there but maybe 2 again as Suarez doesn't want to play for them anymore Arsenal struggle for numerous reasons, mainly their defensive displays are just subpar and cost them points. Going forward they still win games by alot of goals when it all clicks (seems rarer and rarer these days though)
Wigan did play well in the FA Cup last year, they played really well in the final, they didn't just /defend Chelsea style they actually countered REALLY well, they beat Man City fair and square (think Aguero had a shot hit the post or off the line which was City best chance) and before that in the Quarter final they beat Everton within 35 minutes (3 goals in 5minutes i think it was) and just played the game out from there.
Im not saying winning has to be 5/6, of course playing good teams you expect close encounters, but when you play a team from a division below with the stars and money difference between the two teams you expect it to show up in the match. But to me that never showed, it looked a boring game, played at a slow tempo with Yanited just winning. Which to me (as a critic because i want to make Yanited fans suffer as they no longer have mr Fergie) is them being weak and lackluster, thus you have to jump on them
I get your points, but you have to look at it two ways in terms of taking pop shots at challengers in the league before it started. Like Arsenal beating Man City 3-1 in there last pre season games, that is a HUGE +1 for Arsenal when they play City in the league surely? Or even when they start. "We beat City 3-1 we can compete" it shows to me, friendly or not.

This doesn't explain why you think winning the Charity Shield is "more questions and more pressure".
Because Yanited showed weakness didn't look "amazing" or "world class" looked pretty average and lackluster. Thus rivals jump on band waggon and add pressure :D

Did you just try to call out Pan for not knowing his football?
Who the fuck are you?
I mean yea, Pan is a bashit-crazy Chelsea fanboy, but he contributes to football threads on TL more than anyone else here and, even if he can be wrong sometimes (just like everyone) he knows his football, especially English football.
Lol thanks Stratos...i do try not to be bias, but this year. DAMN SON, im going all out on BM to Yanited, they can see what it is like without having the Fergie in the hotseat making average Yanited squads play so well and just win games they shouldn't (were atleast 5 i can think of right now last season where they should not of won but did). Now Moyes is coming in and blocking Rooney transfer (which is his choice, i agree) and not signed anyone (yet ofc) and not looked good in pre season at all. Hard start to the season, first game in charge competitively at Old Trafford against Chelsea, 1 of the 2 other title rivals this season. Oh boy oh boy :D
