Well we defiantly got an answer to the powerstruggle in Europe. I'm just very surprised that Sweden didn't manage to get a spot I don't think Naniwa bothered to leave Korea for it. No matter what his performance was in his GSL code S group, he's still super super good. I'd place him at 2nd best foreigner probably. Sase as well is looking pretty good at the moment and I believe also didn't try for it? Not sure. Naniwa tried, but he failed to qualify. Naniwa has a habit of failing in these sorts of 1-3 day deals, unfortunately.

No Ukrainian either, partly because the qualification to EU finals was heavily influenced by population numbers. The fact that Sweden got 3 and Ukraine only got 2 slots while Germany had 4 players qualifying, In addition to have one player direct qualifying to World final. That is actually bullshit, Germany is well behind in the SC2 scene and should have been happy to get even equal amount of slots to Sweden or Ukraine. And to be fair it seems EU will have pretty good representation regardless. On the other hand is the fact that NA gets even amount of slots to EU even worse. Naniwa got 4th in Sweden and was knocked out, period. While Huk got 10th in Canada and 9th in NA and still managed to go to Shanghai. Lucky for Huk that Blizzard is based in NA when the skill fails. Yeah NA getting so many more spots kinda sucks, top EU players are so much better than top NA players outside of Scarlett. I don't agree Dodgin. I think its very important that the NA scene is well represented.

Slots are distributed according to the number of active players per nation with a slight tweak up for competitive nations. I don't fully agree with it, but it is consequential (otherwise Koreans only) and way better than WCG's system.

Note how he goes 0-2 out of Code S straight into Code A round 1 as soon as the next Code S season started after going to all these foreigner tournaments and losing early. Don't forget that Naniwa won an MLG in 2011 and got second at Providence.

Well, the most consistent and highly skilled Swedes have all looked rather weak this summer and autumn. Thorzain has not been in the best form, Naniwa has been in a real sluimp, SaSe too. Just a weird anti-timing for Sweden. We still have a strong scene, but no one who can perform consistently at a high international level at the moment. SortOf is probably the best Sweden has to offer right now, but he's not quite at that highest level yet. We just have to face that having a solid scene doesn't mean that we will always be represented everywhere and we can't just expect great performances ![]()

Naniwa has a habit of failing in these sorts of 1-3 day deals, unfortunately. Might be more of a recent slump, but NaNiwa did fairly well at weekend tournaments during 2011 and early 2012 (consistent top MLG placings), but I think he got too much into the GSL mindset and finds it difficult to win without preparation beforehand.
