No, he's actually right there. That isn't something I would say.
I was responding to someone who said "a lot of foreign SC pros are douchebags" and meant to put the word "douchebag" between 'successful' and 'foreign', but I missed it out -_- my bad
The thing is that Naniwa isn't a douchbag. He's a passionate character with a bit of a troubled past and likes to speak his mind. I see so many people on these forums misrepresent Naniwa's personality as one with 'malicious' intent. I guess that's the cost of being different.
Anyway, there will always be haters. All I know is that Naniwa proved a lot of people wrong tonight.
No, Naniwa definitely goes beyond being passionate. Please don't think I'm just a random Naniwa hater, because it's not that. It's not a secret that I don't like him, but I'm not one of those people that doesn't like him just because he's popular or whatever. Like I said earlier in the thread in Providence I didn't know him, I didn't really think anything of him good or bad at the time. I barely knew who he was, I'd just heard his name once or twice before. I was getting autographs from pro players, and it was a great experience, the pro players tend to be a great group of people that laugh and joke and are generally friendly.
Then there was Naniwa, who I didn't know, and I felt bad not asking for his autograph because I had gotten literally everyone else's in the room, so I thought I would ask him so he didn't feel left out and insulted. He asked me what if he didn't want to give his autograph, and I just smiled and shrugged because everyone else was good natured and the mood was pretty good and he just exploded. Other pro players and their people shuffled away, and then he stormed off after about 7 mouthfuls of abuse while I was trying to figure out what set him off and trying to calm him down. Other fans apologised to me for him. >.< So yeah, to me, I think he's a jerk. If he's changed since then well then good, but I've got no way of knowing that, but speaking as someone that met him not THAT long ago he definitely had a very angry streak. That experience totally messed up the rest of that MLG for me.
All that said I'm glad that he performed better today than I expected him to because even if I don't necessarily like a person I do enjoy seeing people improve and play better games.
Edit: And for people comparing him to IdrA ... IdrA is actually pretty laid back in person. Had a great experience with him talking about making the IdrA face. We were talking and laughing and I asked him if it's ever difficult for him to make the IdrA face. Mid-laugh he just stopped and put on the :-| face, and it was hilarious.
Hahaha, that story is awesome. This story only makes me like Nani more. I really like it when people are not just big pussies all the time, and Naniwa can be a dick when he needs to be. I don't get why people expect pros to always walk around like big carebears. Naniwa isn't a cuddly toy there to please you dude, he is a SC2 beast who wants to rip out throats!
Anyway, sounds like you deserved it. Walking up to Naniwa for a pitty autograph and then being suprised that the guy just does not roll over for you...
Also, the results suck, Naniwa should have won. Let's not put our standards here like it is ok he lost to DRG, he should not lose. Next time, Naniwa GSL champion, nothing less!

I don't believe that diagnosing people over the internet with mental conditions constitutes as a valid response. Or an appropriate one.

I hear alot of people say that Jinro's accomplishment is no where near Naniwa's and that simply is not the case. Yeah, everyone sucked back then and the Gorilla terran fell off considerably (something I don't think will ever happen to Naniwa) but we should respect Jinro's achievement. He reached the Ro4 at a time when we were asking ourselves if we would ever be able to compete with the Koreans, if it would go back to being like Broodwar, and then in the next season not only did he repeat that achievement but he beating the reigning fucking champion in his worst matchup (MC!). Remember Jinro's game against Ensnare? It was an action packed hour long TvT fest where each player took turns dealing huge blows to each other. So I wouldn't underrate Jinro achievement. If Nani makes the Ro8 again then I think it would be fair to say he is the most consistent (AKA best) foreigner in the GSL - but Jinro's run was the most spectacular.

Next time, Naniwa GSL champion, nothing less!
...Chances seem very high you have some sort of social problem.
A shit I give not. Seriously though...crying nerds sometimes tire me out, and then I can't do anything but laugh at their spineless behaviour, sue me.
Social disorder confirmed. Good luck with that one. A guy politely asking a pro for his autograph at an event where pros are signing autographs, then the guy who plays video games for a living rages because of this, makes the FAN a crying nerd? Right.
Sigh...So you were there when he asked? hey mister man you, I am a big EG fan, I know all these other pros here, but I don't have a clue who the hell you are, but you can give me your autograph if that makes you feel better. You are a pro gamer right, or do you do the catering here? Can you get me a drink?
Seriously, you have no idea how the conversation went down, how it was interpreted by Naniwa, etc. You just hear one story, from one guy who is whining about Naniwa and then saying how awesome Idra is...Alarm bells are not ringing for you, and you think something is socially wrong with me for calling him out? He could have sent an e-mail to Naniwa, instead he decided to slander him in this thread as some form of retribution.
You lurked forever But you still should not call SeaSwift of all people a troll The hidden assumption here (correct me if I'm wrong) is that only GSL results matter, and then it's indeed Jinro, Idra and Naniwa, right?
Edit: Forgot Huk -.-
No, he's actually right there. That isn't something I would say.

Stop being a big fucking pussy and just hit him already.

This isnt the case, while it is true that the game is more developed that when Jinro got to the RO4, it does not make his achievement any less bigger. Its like in any sport, just look at soccer the UEFA champions was won by real madrid 5 times at the start of it because there was no real competition to face them. Does that take away from the fact that they won 5 times not they were the best at that period and deserve their glory. Same with Jinro just because the game was different does not mean that his achievement was worth any less. Everyone was in equal footing back then, its not like Jinro had some magical advantage.
Jinro's run is way better than Naniwa's...People don't seem to get it, but Naniwa's run isn't that great:
He went 2-1 in his round 48(beating the STC: 2-0 and losing then beating Creator(Yeah, PvP is pretty volatile))...the same goes for the next group stage(beating Keen 2-0, losing then beating Genius(another PvP))...He lost in the first bo5 he played.
I really don't get what's so amazing about this when you compare it to Jinro vs MC match.
if you haven't noticed yet a lot of foreign SC pros are douchebags and I cheer for Naniwa because he's one of the hardest working foreigners out there and genuinely wants to become one of the best SC2 pros out there
Apart from Idra, there aren't any successful foreign SC2 pros that I can think of. Who are you thinking of?
nice try troll

so glad naniwa lost
you sound like a sociopath and so does naniwa. you dont cuss people out for asking for an autograph. the two of you sound like a match made in heaven, just don't become a serial killer.
