surprising................... Good thing they changed the bunker and stim timing in the latest patch. Yeah, after seeing Terran absolutely DOMINATE GSL 1,2,3 and 4 with MC as one of the ONLY protoss players with anything achieved - this one MLG shows how absolutely OP Protoss is? ... ...hwat? This is not a thread about balance... Please, leave you QQ's elsewhere
2 Zergs, 2 Protoss, 1 Terran.
lol wut? 3 protss in semi finals in MLG. Protss wins IEM. wut are you on about?
anyway, wp kiwi, would have been nice to see select in final, thought he played really well all tourney.

Interesting, Kiwi's getting robo instead of blink. Naniwa's the opposite.

I think it's a much better concept than automatically awarding someone a bo5 series lead since they're from the winners bracket instead of the losers bracket.
They are TWO different series; under DIFFERENT circumstances.. The PENALTY for losing against an opponent is going into the LOSERS bracket where you have struggle your way through; but then you come up against the guy again and instead of "well done you battled through so much shit in the losers bracket - good on you" it's "well done - now beat him 4 times before he beats you twice!" It pretty much serves as a double penalty.. The idea is that if the two players play two entirely separate series, then it's entirely arbitrary for the second series to be the deciding one. If you beat your opponent once and lose once, why do they emerge the overall victor? Why not the other way around? I doubt the losing player would be comforted by "Well, the other guy showed some really good stuff after he lost to you, so yeah, second one counts." Pretty sure this is used in MLG as well. Last year I remember them saying Select needed to beat Idra twice in the ifnals As a viewer, the extended series feels cheap to me, but I can't think of a fair way to avoid it in a double-elimination format. The FXOpen thing where they play two Bo5s is another option, but it's basically the same idea with a different execution. The player who won initially still has an advantage in the later series. The FXOpen setup is the complete normal way of handling a double elimination play, and the one that's most reasonable. Every player in the tournament has the ability to lose 1x boX. Since the WB final player hasn't lost a single boX so far in the tournament, he has the ability to lose the first one in the final, and then win with the second one.

That could have problems too. I think extended series is a lot better. That's the rules players prefer actually.

It's the exact same thing.
Since we're doing bo3 here. If KiWi needed 2xbo3 wins he needs 4 wins without Nani securing 2 (2 wins for nani means he won either bo3).
Starting 0-2 in a bo7 means KiWi needs 4 wins without Nani securing 2 wins. Oh look it's the exact same thing. Except KiWi would actually have a better start if he'd managed to lose 1-2 instead of 0-2 the first time around.

i hope nani wins. cuz i really want to see his post game interview.
Nani scouts the robo!

Just got off work, and just in time for the finals! Go Kiwikaki! ~~

OMG HE IS SNIPING ROBO!!!!

Dont like this double elimination all too much. But if they have to use it i feel like extended series is the best. Kiwi kinda already was "knocked out" by naniwa.

Your basically saying a match in the Winners Bracket Round 2 is essentially the same as the Grand Final - which is ridiculous; there are consequences of the outcome of the match in Winners Round i.e. Kiwi went into the losers bracket.. Nani stays in the winners bracket;
If Nani LOSES this series somehow; He drops into the losers bracket and they play a Bo3? Well that was what was said earlier; and if that is the case - Kiwi has to win 6 games against Nani..

is it just me or did kiwi not kill nearly as many units as he could have there? did a lot get caught behind mineral line?
