The finals are the same as every other situation.
To be eliminated, you must lose two series. If the finalist from the winner's bracket loses, he 'goes to losers' and they play another series for the championship.
It's really not that hard to understand. You get two lives.

If you have a report button and people are whining about balance, just report them. Don't respond. It's idiotic and turns what is supposed to be live report threads into complete garbage (this thread is well beyond that point already though, I suppose). If those people actually give a shit or actually have a worthwhile opinion on balance, they can create a detailed thread or a video analyzing a game they believe presents balance issues.

If they're whining in here, then no one should give a shit because you don't know their credentials, they haven't put in effort and should be ignored completely.

Wow, I didn't know there was a report button. I'm definitely gonna start using that haha

These posts about imba are funny. Clearly the players have no influence in the outcome. If a player wins its the race is imba. Get a grip, use your brains and stop this nonsense about kiwikaki and nani only being there because you think they have no merit just the race is op.

No need to pull a straw man here. Theres a huge difference between saying "kiwi and nani are in the finals only cause they chose to play protoss" and saying they reached the finals because theyre above average players who were propelled that extra step by their race.

That beign said, I think protoss imbalance or not kiwikaki has played realyl well this tournament and deserves to be here. Not sure about naniwa though cause i havent watched any of his games.

YOu people don't understand, how fair would it be to Naniwa, if it weren't for the extended series, that he could have gone 24-0 until then finals then lose 2 out of 3 and be 2nd place? He needs to be awarded this sort of advantage, he deserves it, as everyone who comes out of the winner bracket in any tournament.

You know that if kiwi had won 2-0 over nani, but for some reason nani would have come through WB and kiwi LB. Kiwi would have had the lead 2-0 even tho he came from LB. Does that seem fair ?

Although true, that's an impossibility. If you lose to someone, your in the LB. They could meet up together in the LB and that's when the extended series would come into play.

Player 1 3-1 in pool play

Player 2 1-3 in pool play

player 2, 2-0 player 1.

player 1 in WB, goes through to grand final.

player 2 in LB goes through to grand final

extendes series, player 2 leads 2-0 in grand final

O_O I like the extended series concept since it means that every single game in the tournament is meaningful, and throwing games or not revealing your full strategy would probably never be a good idea ><
Don't know why so many people are bitching about it since it's not like Naniwa hasn't earned his 2-0 lead vs Kiwi. I think it's a much better concept than automatically awarding someone a bo5 series lead since they're from the winners bracket instead of the losers bracket.

They are TWO different series; under DIFFERENT circumstances..

The PENALTY for losing against an opponent is going into the LOSERS bracket where you have struggle your way through; but then you come up against the guy again and instead of "well done you battled through so much shit in the losers bracket - good on you" it's "well done - now beat him 4 times before he beats you twice!"

It pretty much serves as a double penalty..

The idea is that if the two players play two entirely separate series, then it's entirely arbitrary for the second series to be the deciding one. If you beat your opponent once and lose once, why do they emerge the overall victor? Why not the other way around? I doubt the losing player would be comforted by "Well, the other guy showed some really good stuff after he lost to you, so yeah, second one counts."

As a viewer, the extended series feels cheap to me, but I can't think of a fair way to avoid it in a double-elimination format. The FXOpen thing where they play two Bo5s is another option, but it's basically the same idea with a different execution. The player who won initially still has an advantage in the later series.

The FXOpen setup is the complete normal way of handling a double elimination play, and the one that's most reasonable. Every player in the tournament has the ability to lose 1x boX. Since the WB final player hasn't lost a single boX so far in the tournament, he has the ability to lose the first one in the final, and then win with the second one.
I speak fluent sarcasm.

a bo7 actually

A player who is 24-0 should have an advantage over someone who has come from losers, sorry.

Are you serious!? The advantage is he plays a ton LESS GAMES! He advances and STAYS IN THE WINNERS BRACKET and has an overall easier road to the finals.. Why does he get another advantage?

that's stupid.

He's being punished for being a better player. That means someone could lose purposely to dodge MC, then just farm scrubs to the finals and be on an even playing field.

Extended series is horseshit. Nani already has 2 lives, he shouldn't get the 2-0 head start as well.

Not that it matters, he'll win first time.
