I'm pretty sure that's possible.

The PENALTY for losing against an opponent is going into the LOSERS bracket where you have struggle your way through; but then you come up against the guy again and instead of "well done you battled through so much shit in the losers bracket - good on you" it's "well done - now beat him 4 times before he beats you twice!" It pretty much serves as a double penalty.. The idea is that if the two players play two entirely separate series, then it's entirely arbitrary for the second series to be the deciding one. If you beat your opponent once and lose once, why do they emerge the overall victor? Why not the other way around? I doubt the losing player would be comforted by "Well, the other guy showed some really good stuff after he lost to you, so yeah, second one counts." As a viewer, the extended series feels cheap to me, but I can't think of a fair way to avoid it in a double-elimination format. The FXOpen thing where they play two Bo5s is another option, but it's basically the same idea with a different execution. The player who won initially still has an advantage in the later series.

That's right because it's series is meant to be it's OWN thing and not some part of a bigger picture. MLG's format is already garbage, extended series just adds to it a bit more. That is a valid argument, but it seems MLG wants to go for more of a grind it out/grueling route where the most "consistent" player has a higher chance of winning. Not necessarily the best but the most consistent over a course over 3 days. Extended series if you look at it that way does make sense to allow the most consistent player to win, as each game is worth the same amount. Winning a game in the first round is the same value as winning one in the semi's.

Even without flawless execution ravens are better than no ravens. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Please play the game first, post after. You can't get just get a building and instantly warp in 3 ravens from your starports. Especially not while still building vikings, getting upgrades, getting ghosts and pumping bio with your every single penny, so you can stay alive. Yeah, I'm gonna say something completely insane, but Select would've probably gotten Ravens if it would've been a viable transition in that game.

Not only that but the PDD is a bit more defensive than offensive anyway since they need to sit there out in the open after all. Dropping some pdds as the protoss pushes in after dropping some emps is fine imo. You dont need to stim kite either since you will be fighting range 9 collossi and stalkers need to be hit instead of letting just vikings shoot at the collossi. Its more an issue of practiced strategy and tactics and comfort not as much a question of apm. A small raven force would be useful. Regardless of the PDD because DTs do so so much damage. Yes, I am sure you are right. Top Terrans don't use six different types of units because they don't feel like practicing it and not because it's impossible to manage late game.

If they're whining in here, then no one should give a shit because you don't know their credentials, they haven't put in effort and should be ignored completely.

Those series results also carry over to the "Champions Bracket". So it's ENTIRELY possible under this weekends format.

You mean where there are drops and idle units all over the place and inefficient micro? Yes in BW you can outplay the other player purely with multitasking and apm, in SC2 you cannot, Protoss can be managed with near perfect efficiency late game with 150 - 200 apm and Terran can't. This isn't a balance complaint, I play protoss, this is just the way it is Agreed. Warping units in 5 seconds after a Max battle, after Terran just crushed your army, yet takes 30 seconds + movement from the barracks to reinforce. The Micro to avoid colossus fire, EMP everything AND micro your Vikings takes supreme micro - Protoss Chargelots and Colossus need little micro, just kill Vikings with Stalkers. Protoss can be maximized with less skill than Terran, and Zerg takes more skill again.
