Just check out the most recent tournaments: IEM Cologne, Seatstory Cup, DH(??). Also, look for any and all guides by the TL Strategy team. We've done game analysis on HerO vs. Polt and HerO vs. TaeJa as well as released a PvZ guide (voidray/archon/chargelot) and a PvP guide (Immortal/archon/chargelot).
Also, just pick a player like Rain, HerO, or Dear and study some of their games .

Also, I find myself constantly getting stuck in the "stare at one position on the screen for way too long" mode quite often and it hurts my in-game awareness. So my question is, how do you guys go about practicing these things? It's hard to play a ladder match and play up to par while still trying to practice these things constantly and I find I fall back in bad habbits quickly as the game progresses. So was just wondering if anyone had some tips for practicing these things or any suggestions. Thanks! There is a multitasking trainer in the arcade. It's the one where you have to keep running a probe away from a Zergling while doing other tasks. I practiced on that and it helped A LOT with my multitasking / minimap awareness. The two are related, because you can only look at the minimap if you have the APM to do all the things you need to do at the same time. Otherwise you'll just be staring at one part of the screen doing the same thing. That trainer has "real world" use... when I open Oracle I find myself constantly using the skills I developed to keep the Oracle alive while macroing at the same time. I definitely recommend it.
Oh ok I didn't know this I'll have to check it out, thanks man. ANd SC2John thanks as well, I'm going to start adding that into my practice. Thanks guys exactly what i needed

He's very much still relevant, seems to be doing fairly well in proleague playing as a mercenary for team IM.

HerO is currently doing the best for TL right now I think. Really enjoy watching him in Proleague. Also, Rain is a god if it comes to playing safe and steady in any matchup. Just study them a bit will show you about everything you need to know. Also, NonY covered alot of footage on PvX. Chech his YT aswell.
Link to proleagueYT, you can find all games casted in English there! Does contain spoilers though.

Downloaded IEM Cologne replays, will watch HerO and Rain there. I prefer replays over VOD's.

I've searched for his channel, found 7 videos and the newest is 6 months old. I guess he has another channel?

There they are. It only shows the highlighted videos by default. You have to go into past broadcasts. He didn't do VODs of the first set (he changed the setting for it to save the streams after that broadcast), which was 6 or so hours, but the other 25+ hours of analysis is still available. It's really good stuff.

Hey guys,
I have a question regarding blink micro. I want to improve my blink micro so I was wondering if you could let me know what you think is the optimal way to do so, and also if anyone knows how the pro's do it.
More specifically, what I want to know is, after you have blinked a stalker back from a fight what do you do? Example:
While keeping the stalker selected: - right click on ground roughly near enemies in hopes to make it move forward and then attack automatically from there - right click an enemy unit to make it close the gap and attack - attack-move near/past the enemy units
Thanks for any feedback!

i'm not sure how the pro blink mirco for sure but I think it's mostly like this
Defensive blink mirco:
You blink stalkers with no shields right behind you heathy stalkers with shield and repeat. When you blink right behind your stalkers, they should auto attack the the opponent units.
-right-click on the no shield stalker/s and then blick right click behind stalkers. this can be done in box/s if your not good a selecting 1 unit at a time but selecting 1 at a time is better but a lot harder. Offensive blinks mirco:
When you do this you want to use your unhealthy stalkers and blink on top of your opponent units and target fire their weakened units, behind there front line. If done right you be trading effectively stalkers for kills.
-you want to shift-select weak stalkers and than blink on top of the oppnent's stalkers. the final step is to shift right click on the oppnent's weakened units with your stalkers that blink on top.
effecent shot mirco with stalkers:
Make sure you know how many shots are needed to kill a unit from a stalker. So that you don't overkill them with more than the required anoumt of shots if you can do this your most likely a korean pro, no currunt toss does this but if you can your godlike.
-shift-right clicking on your stalkers that are attacking a almost died unit, while leaving just enough of your stalkers to kill the oppnent units to deal finishing shots this requires high level of timing and shot counting.
@side note:
Always deffensive blink, never offensive blink unless you know for sure you can get a kill or if the opponent is running away.

well it's is defaulted left click but "in the examples he made used right", so i assumed he changed his hot keys on his mouse to left is right and right is left. but yeah i meant left.

Read again, in his first point he intentionally executes a move command to move the stalker forward to then attack.
But it doesn't matter really, I just wanted to point it out.

Most of the time you can just blink back and all the stalkers will continue attacking (as usually roach/ling or bio will be attacking directly into you). If you have any idle stalkers, just hit the hotkey and amove towards your opponent to make sure every unit participates in the fight. Also, if they start to pull back, you want to make sure you continue to attack, so attack move. Don't worry about focus firing (and aggressive blinks) unless you have very specific targets such as vulnerable immortals, queens, broodlords, or marauders.
The most important thing for you to work on is mouse accuracy so that you can quickly and accurately select individual stalkers and blink them back before they die. I'm a big fan of Minesweeper, but there are a ton of mouse accuracy games out there you can practice to help speed up the process.

To be honest, even though I'm an accuracy freak who plays with somewhat low resolution for a claw grip user, I think no accuracy game beats practicing blink micro in a custom game, preemtively hovering the cursor over stalkers under focus fire in order to blink asap. Blinking is a specific micro technique that requires more than pure accuracy.
I recall watching JYP's stream once and noticing how he didn't desperately move his mouse to blink. His micro seemed to flow calmly, but with precision and very little wasted movement. I think your eyes play a much bigger role in blink micro than most people realize.

So I've been using dears PvP blink build with the one sentry early for halluc scout. Only used this twice so far.
Couple questions: In blink vs blink battles, how do you micro this properly am I focused on just a moving and blinking back hurt stalkers or should I try and focus his stalkers? I sent the scout in and saw he was going blink himself, I think the nexus is already down at this point that I had. How to respond at this point? Should I have warped in some zealots to help tank while waiting for the nexus to come up for overcharge? More stalkers or get a robo upon seeing blink from opponent?
Separate question, vs stargate openers. vs oracles and phoenix, if I want to get aggressive with my blink after my expo is down, how can I safely do this? I feel like you have to leave a certain number of stalkers in the mineral line at all times.
|
It can actually be worse to focus fire against blink, because that way he can blink back a single stalker and make you waste all the shots.
Against oracles leave 3 stalkers at home per mineral line. Against phoenix imo, just go with all your army. You need too many stalkers to be able to defend from phoenixes, and if he wastes a lot of lifts on the probes he won't be able to use them against your stalkers in the fight, which is an advantage for you.

During the initial engagement of blink stalker vs. blink stalker, you don't want to do any focusing because your units will get screwed up by blink backs. Just work on blinking back weak stalkers and once both players are down to low shields (and you can 1-shot injured stalkers), then you can start focusing down individual stalkers.
Whenever you have a blink mirror, you should always be considering which player will have the stalker advantage and then reacting based on that. For instance, in a blink mirror, 4 gates > 3 gates. Just the same 3 gates > 3 gates + nexus. If you feel like you can't break your opponent but have them contained, most players just do a soft contain, take a natural, and add a robo.
As far as blink vs. stargate, I usually see ~4 stalkers left in the mineral line + MSC while another group of stalkers pokes around the map. If you have the tempo advantage, you can continue to push with blink stalkers on one base. If you're opponent is defended and able to get a natural down, just take a natural and play a little more defensively.
