Also he seems to be on some kind of mental slump lately.
Thorzain was casting a few matches, thats the reason to not count him to losers.
btw great writeup. thx
cya @ HSC V :D

grubbys casting was awesome! he really deserves to be the big winner at HSC great writeup!

Having never heard Grubby cast, let alone speak, i tuned into the HSC finals or semis or whatever and heard a fantastic casting trio. The guy leading it was Grubby, i didn't know this. I thought he was a pro. Like... Dutchtosis or something. I was blown away and am now a massive Grubby fan. Late to the party, i know, but my point is he's amazing and i love him.
Great write up for a great tournament~!

You can discuss why his performance and overall showing at HSC wasn't that well as any of his fans or TL-Fans may have hoped. On my side of this (huge fan of him) i'm rly sad but not disappointed. Going out of the tournament so early wasn't good, but what bothered me more was the fact that he didn't show up to give some autographs or take some photos. I've been there on friday and saturday and only saw him for seconds as he was leaving the place with the other koreans to take a break from the flat. i took my chance as they retourned just to get the worst photo ever taken by me (thanks to the photographer who didn't know my cam at this moment). so that was my overall experience of meeting my favourite player i didn't even have the chance to let him sign my mousepad because at this moment i just didn't want him to wait outside of the pub for me to grab it from the inside ... who knew that in the end this whould've been my only chance? Still <3 u Hyeondeok! more play less travel and you'll be Code S Champ. -> pictures i took on HSC: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.325021600854294.77033.100000393696163&type=3 (i hope you can access them without beeing friend?) you can take these pics wherever u want (reupload etc.) - just wanted to share
wow dude, great pictures!
Nice to know that incontrol was there smashing nerd arms haha! Even breaking one ;D
Incontrol is a nice guy can't understand why people always bash the guy!
It was a great tournament, thank you take, the organization and the players!!

I don't think Real, Sound, or Violet will have left long lasting impressions in the minds of fans (at least JYP can go play in Code S). Still, it's better than nothing. They will command our respect for at least the short term future, and it might be a base to build upon with future tournament success.
viOLet a "sort of winner", yet he defeats MKP 3-1 and 2-0's HerO and STILL doesn't get ANY applause? If anyone read about this kid's story and how much of his life he's dedicated to even GET to HSC4 let alone any LANs with what's happened, people would give this kid the attention he deserves.
Sigh.

DIMAGA not amongst the winners? q_q I guess the main text makes up for it :p Still a great read :-)

Loved that Blizzard was a loser, but you should probably have added MannerKingPrime to the list of sort of winners for his good times with MC and Reis as well as his jumping up to go ahead and offer a regame to Vi0let despite his good position at the time of Blizzard's derp. (Seriously, can Blizzard just get over it and at least allow a Bnet 2.0 tournament server appliance as part of the official blizzard tourney licensing agreements? Or a special LAN tourney client?!)
Poor Her0. You're good, man - ignore the doubt, and just play!
Nice wrap-up, and the HSC has a great atmosphere - one of the few tourneys I've actually watched (stealthily, of course) from work. :D

Impressing neither with his personality nor his in-game content, he was the only clear loser at HomeStoryCup. After his stock hit peak value after winning DHW 2011, he's landed back at being a very talented but very inconsistent player.
Really odd to me seeing Team Liquid writers calling out their own player as a loser at HSC.. Yeah, Hero didn't perform well, but he's on your team! This is good journalism, stop being whining about it. Great job wax keep up the good work.

Cloud interview was so great, he's one of the most honest persons out there.
Really sad to hear how he feels about the game But I can kinda understand him...

Cloud, that was really great. Keep up the good work!

Grubby did nothing but impress me with his stories of take running around pinching his nipples

Also props go to thorzain, ret, socke (I think it was), who did some amazing chilled casting late on in the tourney. They just sat around how I imagine sc2 players want to sit around, not getting hyper about nothing, not trying too hard to show off funny personalities, just sitting watching the game discussing the implications of scouting someone's robo tech or whatever.

No need to kick him while he is already down. First people start hyping him as the best Protoss in the world and when he does not meet these expectations, whether at blizzcup or hsc, we think he did poorly. Let's all support the guy for the good player that he is.
There were no players who lost at hsc. Even if they were knocked out the first Round, I'm sure they had a great time and got to show their fans their personality.
yeah, this 100 times over. Poor guy
Great articles and an awesome read nonetheless

Oh this is awesome, nice write up, love reliving this tournament
Cant agree with one comment though Hasu obs is a more then solid caster imo,(and so is cloud) They on par with quiet a few professional casters

not a single mention about viOLet.
Yes, I am a bit biased.. but the fact he was not mentioned at all, also shows some biased.
The guy went there.. with not one person expecting him to reach the 2nd stage. Not only did he do that, but he finished 4th overall. The fact that he went from a virtual unknown into a training camp that has helped him grow as a player and person.. should be a story. Like I said though.. I am a bit biased in that respect.
Great write up though!

Yeah, he's a winner. Just like Sound. But Wax's point is, that as they are no foreigners, people don't care that much for their result if they don't win it all...
Violet and Sound impressed me the most to be honest. Hero was a disappointment for sure, but so was Thorzain.

LAN mode required!
Awesome writeup anyway

Nothing quite like a good old-fashioned lan party

Hmm...the review kinda ends on a sour note for me as a HerO fan. I think it's important to note that he did not perform as well as expected but the way it was done just seemed unnecessarily mean. It basically singled out HerO as the only "loser" in the entire tournament (having "Blizzard" doesn't count since that's such a stock answer). Having a real second "loser" would have gone a long way to not leave a bitter taste in my mouth. Especially if the entire review is going to end with it.
I guess I'll just have to try and remember that the rest of it was actually a really good read. Brought back great memories of that weekend.

Holy shit. How did I miss all these games? Are there vods available anywhere?
