The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia. The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. If you do not have the time or patience to read the whole thread, do not play. I will not compensate for ignorance.
Rules: Cheating:Cheating includes (but is not limited to): 1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information. 2. Cast of Characters
This game will be a semi-open setup. Possible extent of roles is known, but not the exact number.
Peter Quill, Star Lord![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/wOvuLgKm.png) Armed with his Element Gun, his infamous Walkman, and his wit, Star Lord is a master strategist and problem solver, with vast knowledge about various societies and cultures. His psychic link with his sentient energy form allows him to, among other tasks, scout out situations and gather information on people, places or things. As such, this ability allows Star Lord to submit the name of a player each night to check his or her alignment.
Gamora Zen-Whoberi![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/OjBf2xRl.png) Gamora is the last of her species. Her abilities include superhuman strength, agility and durability as well as an accelerated healing factor; she is a highly skilled assassin. Gamora’s abilities allow her to select a player to sequester each night. The target will be unable to take any action. However, sequestration will protect from any and all KP.
Drax the Destroyer![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/qKI5IR3l.png) Drax the Destroyer's new powers include, among others, the ability to project energy blasts from his hands. He also possesses a limited amount of energy that he can use to take someone out for good. Drax has the power to eviscerate a player of his choice each night using his lethal energy blasts. He has one blast he can channel on a given night.
Corpsman Rhomann Dey![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/0ms5dARl.png) Rhomann Dey was the leader of the Nova Corps of Xandar. Dey has crafted special armour for protection against certain types of species. As a result, he can survive a single KP on a given night. However, if he is shot again, he will die. Rhomann Dey’s passive ability cannot be roleblocked. (If knocked out, he's still wearing his gear.)
Groot and Rocket![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/wST37YEl.png) Rocket is a genetically engineered raccoon who is gifted with speed, and acute sense of smell, sight, hearing and touch. An expert marksman, he recruited Groot, an extraterrestrial plant who arrived on Earth looking for humans to capture and study. Rocket and Groot formed a bond when they joined Star Lord’s strike force. Rocket developed a learning and understanding of Groot’s language. Confirmed to each other, they are able to communicate privately with each other.
Nova Prime Irani Rael![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/Wlbts4Cl.png) Rael is a Rigellian Nova Centurion secretly recruited by the Xandarian Worldmind. She remains in charge of the Nova Corps; endowed with the Nova Force, she can manipulate energy to her advantage. At night, her manipulation of energy allows her to sense a target and see who that given target visits that night.
Yondu and the Ravagers![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/PohB2FHl.png) Yondu is a leader of the Ravagers, and with them, helps the Star Lord steal the Infinity Orb. He works for good, although his alliances with a number of the other races in the galaxy has been muddled because of various conflicts. With the Nova Corps unsure of your alliance, they are not sure whether to trust you. You are not aware of any problems however with the Corps and carry on with your business.
Nova Corps![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/VYCnzc5l.png) The Nova Corps defend the Xandarian civilization and protect and safeguard the Xandarian Worldmind. They have no special powers, but use their intelligence on a daily basis to seek those who wish to destroy Xandar. Lend your voice and vote as you defend the Nova Force from evil.
Ronan the Accuser![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/mVX3mmQl.png) Kree fanatic Ronan the Accuser is specially equipped with full body armour that creates fields of invisibility and amongst other weapons, uses his universal weapon, which uses cosmic energy for among other things, the rearrangement and transmutation of matter. These abilities in particular allow Ronan to maintain complete and total immunity to alignment checks and tracker checks.
Nebula![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/kWOGVARl.png) Athletic, intelligent and adept at combat, the mercenary Nebula wears blasters on her wrists that fire concussive blasts of energy. The blast one receives is severe enough to knock them out for a long period of time. Nebula can choose to blast any player unconscious rendering them useless for the evening.
Thanos the Masterlord![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/1MtqVI4.png) Thanos is a mutant member of the Titanian Eternals, and is capable of space flight, force field projection, teleportation, time travel, and movement through alternative universes. He is able to manipulate forces such that the good look evil and the evil look good. He can perform this adjustment of force fields on one person per night of his choosing.
Korath the Pursuer![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/x7304FA.png?1) Korath the Pursuer is trained in the martial arts and wields beta batons capable of stunning opponents on contact. Korath can supercharge enough force in his batons to kill any player of his choosing on a given night.
Tanaleer Tivan the Collector![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/QElLWRom.png) Tanaleer Tivan the Collector has the ability to manipulate cosmic energy to project concussive force beams, morph into alternate beings, and use stun and stasis beams to incapacitate his enemies. Tanaleer’s abilities allow him to submit the name of a player each night to reveal their role.
The Kree![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/VWaZuVWm.png) The Kree are a nationalistic and militaristic society with the only widespread mission being worship of the Supreme Intelligence. The Kree do not hold any special powers but can carry KP if they so choose.

The Infinity Orb is a special mechanic to aid the Nova Corps and the forces of good against the forces of evil. However in the wrong hands, the Orb means trouble for the people of the galaxy.
Each night, the orb will be RNGed to one player, who will then submit the name of a target.
The player will not know what ability they will trigger until the daypost. The ability triggered will be RNGed.
Orb powers can be roleblocked.
If roleblocked, the orb is considered used for that evening and the power in question will have been wasted.
The possible one-time actions on your target that could result from using the orb are as follows:
1 Role check (explained more in detail below)
2 Track
3 1 KP delivered
4 Roleblock
The role check will not return alignment, only the role. As follows:
1 The following roles will return as "cop": framer, tracker, alignment cop, scum rolecop
2 The following roles will return as "vanilla": VT, vanilla scum, godfather, masons, veteran, millers.
3 The following roles will return as "jailer": Town JK, Scum RB
4 Vigilantes will return as "vigilante."
The orb dissipates when the game reaches 11 players or when the orb is used 4 times in the game, whichever should come first.
Game Mechanics and Setup
1 Scum RB resolves first. Where a scum RB and town JK should RB each other, the RB will pass, however the JK loses his/her protective ability.
2 If the vigilante gets roleblocked, his/her bullets will not be refunded.
3 Passive powers for Rhomann Dey and Ronan the Accuser are not roleblockable.
4 There will be no notifications allowed unless absolutely necessary.
5 There are no third-party players.
6 There are no alignment changing mechanics.
7 KP from opposing factions will resolve simultaneously.
8 Any given scum can deliver a faction kill as well as any KP granted by the orb.
Scum KP as follows:
Days 1 and 2: 2 KP
Day 3 and after: 1 KP
Delivered by individuals, and subject to RB/track rules.

Blazinghand beat me to it, but yes, if I had to put it in one sentence, you become a special role for one night with any one of the four abilities (for what you said, rolecheck and tracker respectively), though you have a 20% chance of dying for choosing to use the orb.
EDIT: Also edited the orb section for clarity, hopefully easier to understand now.

Fecalfeast, it's a large normal, and knowledge of the film is not required. I know you played Carol, this is along the same vein. Large normal, heavy flavour. 
Obi, I have knocked it back to the 18th (the soonest) because of St. Patty's Day. If it had started the 15th, EoD would have been on a day a sizeable amount of players couldn't have been around.
I'd like to get minimum 20 before we start (which is what Imperial had I think), so that's 8 more minimum, should be able to muster that and more in the next five days.

I'm still looking to see if any player (in any game of his/her choice) will do what geript was trying to do for a few games - impose a self posting limit of 20 posts per day/10 per night, I think in the one student game he was trying to go as low as 10 day and 5 night which is insane in a mini.

To be fair Rayn, it's not something I'd ever do to myself in any game, but apparently if others feel they want to do it to challenge/amuse themselves, there's really nothing stopping them provided they meet minimum posting requirements.
I forget the reason geript started trying to do it again in the first place, but my impression is that he's done it before, I think he wanted to see how low he could go, but I could be wrong on this.

I actually like larger games as well, though I don't know if I could say I prefer them over minis. I'd say I like them equally so far.
Trfel, I'd say I approach the large games differently as a player mainly because there's way more to take in. I don't post quite as much or as conversationally because I spend way more time reading filters and comparing and only really post if I think there's something noteworthy or alternatively if someone else wants to have a conversation or ask questions whatever. I figure that if I can put enough quality in my posts or enough critical thinking, I can still get townread by a decent number of people for what I do have and people scumreading me for not posting as much (in of itself) generally won't faze me. (It happened in both Carol and JOAT and I wasn't scum in either game.)

In about 1h15m I will be locking the roster to finalise a setup along with the kp for appropriate balance.
We currently stand at 19 players, but any final signups will be accepted until that final hour prior to game start.
At that time, if anyone has any questions on the mechanics or doesn't understand something in the rules, it's your last chance to ask and clarify any questions you might have in thread. Once the game starts, you must direct any questions to us privately.

I have received 3-4 requests from players in this game to speed up the time cycle for the days from 48 to 24 hours. This will affect the days only.
For this night cycle, I need every single player here to PM me YES or NO as to whether they want to speed up the time cycle.
For those of you newer to TL, when such a request is received, the hosts entertain it and the vote must be unanimous in favour for the time cycle to change.
If even one person votes it down, then the time cycle will remain at 48h.
This will not affect nights.

GGs and congratulations to the scum team. I for one will be putting in my recommendation to Kita for the best scum team of the year. Each player had their part on the team and actions and each player did the best they could with their situations.

Palmar and ritoky had some great commentary as to the key areas where town went wrong.
The blue roles claiming prematurely and getting wiped early he pointed out.

BH and I spent hours discussing balance. The idea was 3-4 blues plus the orb (statistical a town item given RNG) against 2-3 red PRs based on numbers. We then took a five man scum team, counted MLs backwards and equalised by adjusting kp.
Why do you think town was underpowered? Both sides had passives unless you had an issue with the JK.

me claiming was a terrible move in that it removed 2 blues from the game and gave everyone an alternative theory that let toad coast. i did mention in my "legacy" post at the very bottom that toad's being scum perfectly explained the missing kp, but i was still townreading you at the time, toad...and ppl don't pay much attention to my reads/comments anyway because of my track record

As far as this game was concerned, Blazinghand had taught me how to weigh masons (they count as 1.5x PR) against other roles, and honestly for a large normal, I felt I needed upwards of 30 people for that to work, at least a fourth scum PR. We wanted the orb in there which is a JOAT and we weighted it at 1.5x and wanting for 3 blues, masons wasn't going to work.
Masons were used in Void against a rolecop and two goons.
