Udyr boring and he's countered by janna's passive. Most people in solo que also don't have an actual udyr page. Not alot of folks running around with move speed quints and attack speed red page.

Well not necessarily. That's what he turned into after his remake because of the mana ratios. He could get away with doing a shit ton of damage on spammable skills while building very tanky, mana heavy items.
The idea behind the change was that now if you want to build this tanky build, you sacrifice damage, and vice versa. I don't know the extent to which they succeeded with this plan - I haven't been able to play much the last couple days.

Who doesn't have movement speed quints? Attack speed reds, sure only junglers would use those, but movement speed quints are deceptively good. They are among the few quints that actually gain value as you buy items.

Udyr rune page is uncommon? All my friends and their brothers have that generic 15% attack speed, 4.5% MS page

Well sure, but pretty much anyone can see that building him glasscannon is going to be a poor idea.
Having no survivability on a mage champ who has to stand right next to their target for extended periods of time is a bad idea, and they even further discouraged it by nerfing his range and his snare duration, and nerfing Wota more.
Maybe you could run glass cannon Ryze bottom with soraka and he could be your magic AD carry....Thats basically what they are: glass cannon sustained damage with 600 range. His new ult synergizes with that.

Stacking AA is...meh and kinda expensive. WOuld have CDR problems as well.

the thing is when he completes a voidstaff / wota/ aa he actually has so much ap that his damage probably wont go down building tanky, but his ratios are still so low that its not attractive building him 'standard'
so nothing really changed.

Reason being that with the influx of junglers with aoe skills that aren't affected by autoattacks means that it's better to take AD/apen runes for more per-hit power.

Junglers used to run a hyprid of attackspeed armor pen for best of both worlds( I seem to remember it being used on Ww/noct awhile ago) I still run them on noct and they do fine enough. As far as move speed quints I honestly don't see many people with them except for people I've told "OH GOD THEY GOOD GET THEM"
