It is a ridiculous day when you face more consequences for trying to overthrow the government from the private sector than you do from the actual government.
Isn't Hawley a lawyer? He tweeted complaining that the first amendment. Like, he literally says them dropping the book deal with him is a DIRECT ASSAULT ON THE FIRST AMENDMENT. But isn't Simon and Schuster a private company and thus like... not the government, which makes this not a direct assault on the first amendment?

It would seem that to my untrained eye as a person who isn’t from the States, but surely the lawyer and member of the legislative branch must know what he’s talking about.

One of the cops has died from his wounds, cnn is reporting. So in the span of two hours Trump supporters killed infinitely more cops than antifa.
Police union called for the capitol police chiefs resignation and he immediately tendered it. Impressive that they can get that sort of turnaround while the #2 person in the US government (Pelosi) doesn't.
Hawley definitely knows that it doesn't violate the first amendment. He just has an appropriate view of the ignorance of his and Trump's supporters.
Trump also has a concession video up where he lies about deploying the guard immediately and sounds like he's being held at gunpoint.

|
The video posted by trump on Twitter feels like the condition for not having him removed by pence
|
Now he is going to devote his attention to pardons, stripping regulations, making money for himself. His contrition is way too too little too late, I hope they they still manage to remove him.
|
He cannot be allowed to stay. Under any circumstances. Letting him finish his term is a big flashing, "WE DO NOT HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE" sign and it will GUARANTEE that if the Republican survives as is we WILL see another Trump, they will be smarter, more competent, and they will be even worse.

He cannot be allowed to stay. He won't. Thirteen days.
Letting him finish his term is a big flashing,.. 'Letting'? There is the way to remove the president: impeachment.
As for the 25th, my original claim was poked at, but I didn't really see any counter claim after that, but it seems to me people have wrongly latched on to this 25th as a method. But it seems to be the wrong tool for the job at hand.
I think you are catastrophizing a bit. Thirteen days more signifies very little.

It signifies "the president can incite insurrection and face no consequences!"
Youre insane if you think what happened yesterday is so little of a deal that he shouldn't be punished for it.

yea it’s easy to see a bunch of hapless fucks roaming the capitol in a less than serious light but they are terrorists.
the president of the united states agitated, and ultimately (albeit off the record) supported these terrorists.
if there is any recording or evidence of Trumps vocal support of domestic terrorists forcing their way into the capitol where hundreds of politicians were verifying the results of the election, i mean, the fuck? when DO you remove a president? when he gets in on the action? if he wasn’t an old fat bastard who can barely seem to string a coherent sentence together i have no doubt he’d delight in it. if this doesn’t scream ‘incapabaple of fulfilling his duties as president’ i just don’t know what does.
US senators and congressmen were minutes away from being hostages.
if your gripe is that the 25th doesn’t allow for this, i mean poked at isn’t it, you are just not understanding the words. the text says ‘unable to discharge the duties.’ He failed at discharging more than one of his duties as president yesterday. nobody disputes that he refused to call in the national guard, we don’t even have to hold him accountable for inciting the violence.

Yeah, can you imagine what would have happened if that mob got their hands on pelosi or aoc?
Falling, farvacola quoted you the relevant text of the 25th and I never saw you respond to it. What was your issue with that section?

Betsy Devo's has resigned. Her brother led a gang of mercenary, accused war criminals. Her line is apparently really far out there, but it does exist.

Considering there is photo evidence of at least one individual having a handgun and several zip ties, I can unfortunately imagine what would have happened quite clearly.

Everyone leaving after 4 years of his nonsense stating yesterday was the last straw. As was mentioned earlier, they were fine with the grifting and abuses of power. But yesterday...woo boy that was going just a bit too far.

"Pretend" coups where they try to abuse the justice system are fine but people following their example and storming the capitol is too far.

Fucking finally. At least there won't be pushback when Joe and Dr. Biden try to put someone qualified in her place.

i know self preservation is a strong motivator here but it takes quite quite something to be on the wrong side of someone like Betsy Devos.

Yeah, it was all fun and games until the grifting sycophants realized people are actually gonna be pissed at them for what they're doing. Taking the country for a ride, sabotaging the government and enriching themselves to hell and back, attempting to destroy Democracy in the middle of a pandemic.
They found their line in the sand. Commend them for sticking to their moral compass. They will not go one inch further. Just ignore the 5 miles of scorched earth behind them.
