Even without his scandals, he would have faced heavy fire from everyone because of his program that was so easy to caricaturize as "the same old rich people wanting to gain even more money without giving a shit about trendy topics like environment, startups, etc". I actually think his scandal helped him overall : it made him lose ~4% in the polls, but on the other hand medias and people weren't talking much about his program. Macron - Le Pen would have been the second round even without Fillon's scandals, except with Macron in second place. Now, if Juppé had won the primary, that'd have been a different story;..

Also masterclass of being literally pushed by the billionaires' class, always nice to have newspapers talking 24/7 about you for months Insane alignment of planets with Hollande withdrawing, Juppé losing, Valls getting stomped, Fillon's scandal Karma will soon backfire on him A few months after his election, 75% of the population will hate him, it will be terrible

It's the 21 first century, 75% of disapproval for a chief of state is usual.

I expect to hear honeyed words of European approval over the years to come - as it slowly but surely becomes evident that the man with all the makings of a pretty disastrous presidency will deliver just that. GS alumni are not really a model of what one should hope for in a presidency - and with Trump in charge, now is not really the best time to be an American puppet.

You honestly think Mélanchon could have a popular presidency? Don't get me wrong I would have vote for him if I was french, but he is so far for the position of a huge part of the population, the same way Le Pen is never going to have a popular presidency if she win. Giving progress to the lower classes doesn't mean having their support, just ask Obama, giving healthcare and then being hated for it.

Isn't Le Pen far right? If so, how can left wing people like her?

Time to vote Lepen I guess. Isn't Le Pen far right? If so, how can left wing people like her? The extremes are basically the same, both are sufficiently angry if they lose to vote for the other side
