Driver is arrested according to most sources. One says that there was also a passenger who is dead. It was a polish haulage truck, though according to this it was hijacked Translation: Ariel Żurawski, owner of the transportation company to whom the truck belongs, told TVN24 that he had last contact with the driver around noon. "According to me, they did something to the driver, hijacked the truck and they did what they did. This wasn't my driver. I vouch for him, he was my cousin" - he added. Suspected to be a terrorist attack. No surprise, which is the saddest part of this.

Germany who have accepted more refugees than any other country deports some, shining a poor light on Merkel; a very important leader for the world. Everyone is scared of the far right it seems . . . shining a poor light on merkel is something which should be done at every possbile moment, especially if its about human rights violations of the german government. german tv news said that the polish news had an interview with the owner of the truck firma, who said that the truck was stolen. is this credible news? (nvm, saw the post by Nevuk).

If that was indeed an attack and not an unlucky accident (and it seems so) it's safe to assume that it was the case.

Edit: And I would love to hit the guys from the right-winged media in the face right now. Police is asking not to spread rumours, head editor of "Kronen Zeitung", the biggest Austrian newspaper tweets: "Obviously just a coincidence - same method as in Nice and Graz."

Humans can't turn off pattern recognition. It's how we learn. Most people are reasonable and wait for the confirmation though. Though I think /r/worldnews /r/europe and /r/news just get ready to delete threads and pretend nothing happened that day. It's time to coin a new phrase for migrant crimes in Germany. Every time someone is a victim of a migrant crime, they got Merkeled.

What's a pakistani (source: derstandard.at) getting asylum for anyway? Last I checked there wasn't a civil war going on there.

She makes politics for the next vote. Whenever it is greece, the EU economical downfall, the refugees, the nuclear powerplants, all she does is acting like the things she will win the next vote: This women has no vision, no idea, no thoughts about how Germany is in 10 years or how the EU is in 10 years. She is such an uninspired person, that she just takes a problem and tries to move it into the future. You ask why there have been 3 rescue packages for Greece in 7 years? Why 8 years after the financial breakdown of 2008 there are still Italien banks risking the financial stability of Europe? Why Merkel said "that will not happen" and every happens anyway, like ECB buys of state bonds, eternal rescue fonds like ESM and yet again another greece "crisis"? Because Merkel is like most germans, no vision for the future, only short term decision, no will to invest and sacrifice for the future, no will to lead but to watch how things happen. When the UN part, that runs the refugees camp in Turkey, went close to bankrupt, Merkel yet again striked with a big "not our concern, not our problem, dont want to give any money" and when these people then left the camps where the food was shortened and stranded in hungary/Serbia (thanks to greece boarders being open thanks to Merkels Greece politics) she was like: "Oh no, all the bad pictures could hurt myself as I tried to gain more left wing voters for my party" and opened the gates. The rest is history. On December 20 2016 20:47 Reaps wrote: Only a minority of the refugee's are actual Syrians, 1 in 4 i believe? Their were sources posted a few months back about this. Because you dont need asylum if you are one of them. In Germany there are 500.000 denied asylum seekers living. Arround 6% only get moved out of country each year. The left is heavily against any form of removing denied asylum seekers and tries everything to let them stay. The new red-red-green gouvernment of Berlin city has negotatied, that they will "try everything to deny removal of denied asylum seekers by seeking out to lawyers and work with them". This is a gouvernment that has the duty to remove them in our federal constituion, as the countries, not the federal gouvernment has to move them out of country. Following this, moving these people out of country gives you bad press so you stop it even tho it is legally forced by to move them out of country. Once a asylum seeker has reached germany, he will be here as long as he wants. Annecdote: Next to my parents (2km) they are building a center for removing denied asylum seekers with 600 places. This center is not like a prism, there is no big fence. Now these guys get caught by police, send there and then vanish, as they just leave the center.

Other things from various wikipedia articles: It appears that now around 7% of asylum seekers from pakistan receive asylum in germany. The number used to be way higher (30%-40%) a few years back (before the refugee crisis), which appears to mean there is still a base number of people who face persecution/violence for being part of a (religious) minority, Notably, Pakistan refuses to take back any refugees whose asylum request has been denied.

This is really great example why the popular opinion on migration is such shit. People have no idea what is happening out there, yet quickly judge the refugees.
