Or the classic "let's just be friends". "I'm having my period..." "I have a headache". also, "im busy" "i already have plans" and it turns out she stayed at home all day. if you dont want to date the guy just damn tell him, dont bullshit. How about, "I have to wash my hair.." As if that's some sort of all day ordeal that you're going to have NO free time EVER during that day. What a crock. That or something equally lame like, "I have to do laundry." Your washer and drier take more than an hour or two to finish that?! Time to buy a new set...

It is NOT meant to be used to strengthen your point. It doesn't mean "VERY"... it means LITERALLY, as in, NOT FIGURATIVELY. and as someone said, sportscasters are the worst offenders. Also, only people in New England will get me when I say this, but "I'm all set" This is what every person in a restaurant or store will say to you and it's totally frigging ambiguous. They come up to you ... "are you all set?" Um, do you mean that I am all set cause I don't need anything else, or do you mean I am all set to order my food? Jeebus... and it's so pervasive here that I find myself saying it back to people. Damn them all to hell. By the way, good thread ![]() That's not just NE, though. There are tons of people who do that down here, too. It doesn't bother me too much, because normally it's pretty obvious what they're talking about. "Are you all set to go?" etc.. Hmm, where do you live? I always thought it was a New England thing but I've only spent a lot of time on the coasts. If people say "Are you all set to go?" that's a lot better I think, because it's clearer what they mean. Why can't people say "Can I get you anything else?" or "Are you ready to order?" or some other phrase of the same length that is more specific? oh well. Illinois is where I'm from. Normally people are more specific with that phrase, though it gets used a lot like you were complaining about. Normally it's accompanied by a specific that they were wondering about. "Are you set to order," stuff like that, but I've heard a lot of people leave the specific part off and just say, "are you guys all set?" That happens the most at stores, though. You go up to someone and they ask "are you all set?" and you wonder for a second what they're talking about, and if you're in a particularly bad mood, you might question as to what you might be set on...

Funny how you note she's blonde. I can't think of a specific phrase that people like her would use all the time, but people like that really piss me off. There was this bitch in an English class of mine, she was dumb as all hell, but she thought she was really smart, and she'd speak really slow and deliberately like "listen to how smart and sophisticated I am, even though I'm talking out of my ass," type stuff. The only thing I remember her saying is about the character from some book we read as a class which was, "His life did a complete 360," by which she meant that he had turned his life around. Being the smartass I always was in school I quickly corrected her and told her it was a 180 that he had done, which made my teacher laugh, along with the rest of the class, but I'm sure you get the type of person I'm writing about.

It's hilarious, guys, and it gets more hilarious every time somebody says it. Deal with it. And have the balls to be a cheesy guy yourself. It's tough to think of something funnier than somebody responding to some guy going off about how they hate people saying "I'm Rick James, Bitch," by saying "IM RICK JAMES BITCH"

From an article: Actually -Actually, you may already know how we feel about actually. I've argued that it's worse than literally because it offers up sheer attitude in place of literally's intellectual pretensions. It is literally with a slap in the face. source: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/entertainment/2012/09/actually-literally-what-your-crutch-word-says-about-you/56614/
