There's some bugs for me but netcode has been pretty great for mostly everything I have played.

Tons of trashtalk/hype has been marinating this for months, so that will also be worth watching. edit: On January 29 2015 23:22 Firkraag8 wrote: I listened to the interview and she namedropped the UK sf4 player Ryan Hart, what was that about? But yea, I'm actually very curious/hopeful of someone subbing the interview part.

I know it's still early in development, but you get a better look in this video than the one at Capcom Cup. Can't say I like what I see... way to flashy and kind of slow.

Is there any better way to organize playing on fightcade because popping in here all the time isn't that great of an option? Do they have friends list I can't find it. I'd play some sfii or 3s if anyone wants to. It is good to see TL winning matches at apex too.

Solid investments. Especially since right now "sponsoring" in the FGC just means "send to events", probably a relatively small cost compared to the rest of the Liquid operation right now.

Also, I have a MadCatz TE Round 2 for PS3, is it now possible to make it work on pc? I hear a lot of stuff about a certain type of USB that it needed to be plugged in. I also have a regular Hori Real Arcade (ps3), and it seems to be a lot of solutions on the net for that one atleast. Fucking PS3, never will I have a console again, wasted to much money on that crap and never used it. And are there any fighting games newly come out that are the new hot shot?

Yes you can play on PC I don't believe the SfxT is as populated as the xbox version ( http://steamcharts.com/app/209120 ). Although though. I believe most people use http://www.motioninjoy.com/ and here is a tutorial http://www.gamefront.com/how-to-use-a-ps3-controller-on-a-pc/. GGxrd is new but since you don't want to play on ps3... I think a new version of Blazeblue came out on steam last month and not sure of what else. You could join the Fightcade community ( http://www.fightcade.com/ ) and play most older arcade games online. edit: didn't know motion joy had any security issues disregard that.

On April 06 2015 07:03 WolfintheSheep wrote: So, don't really follow UMvC3. Is Zero May Cry still considered the OP team, or has that passed? And is JWong still the top player since EVO? tbh there haven't been a whole lot of changes or major discoveries in the game, just lots of slight optimizations on the already top tier characters (clockwork's vergil is probably the best example). ZMC is still absolutely a top tier team, it's just gotten a bit harder to win with than it was a couple years ago because people know how to deal with vergil better, so you can't rely on cheesing out wins with XF vergil anymore. A lot of the former top players looked shaky over the last couple months, but as the tournament season continues and gets more and more packed, we're seeing a return to form. The biggest thing that would stop some of the top players (Justin, Chris G, PR Rog) is the existence of CPT and possibly MKX. CPT makes SF4 significantly more rewarding for them to practice over marvel, and Chris G has always been big in the NRS game scene. Thanks to CPT, I think this is the best time for either a new player (like we saw at FR and WB) to break out and start winning, or for an already top player that doesn't care about other games (fchamp, yipes, flocker maybe?) to really grind it out and become the best as others split their focus.

So been mashing those game a little on pad, but this won't last long. Going to assume the Madcatz TE sticks past Round 2 are easily plug and play with PC (I don't feel like paying extra to get ti dual-modded for XBox/Windows)? Thinking of getting another TE when a tournament is offering discount codes, or possibly something like a Hori RAP.

The combos are pretty straightforward and the kinetic stuff is pretty cool to pick between pressure / damage or more defense. tbh of the new PS4 compatible sticks, I don't like the TE2. The easy open faceplate is awesome for modding but sucks to play on imo. There's an empty space where the plate pops off, kind of like you pushed two tables together, so there's a small gap and they're not quite even. Hoping Qanba will make one soon, but I picked up an HRAP 4 (kai?) in the meantime. $50 cheaper than the TE2 but uses hori parts instead of sanwa. They're better than hori parts used to be by a large margin, but I still prefer Sanwas. Modding in Sanwa buttons + JLF (I did) cost $50, so evened out almost to the dollar. The hori was easy to mod, 10x easier than the HRAP3, and the quick disconnects have a muuuuch nicer wrapping around them for the buttons so they dont hurt your hands to pull them off lol. I hear the art is way harder to replace on the hori, and it def doesnt have as much space to rest your wrist on like the old sticks, but among the current PS4 sticks its my favorite. For reference, in the past I used HRAP 2, HRAP 3, TE Round 2, Q4RAF Black, now HRAP 4 Kai.

**I've only played Kinetic Advance with the Vandal Hook. Other loadouts could change things. + Show Spoiler [Dauntless Notes] + + Show Spoiler [Combos / General] + Low Cr.M xx S1 Cr.M xx S1 Dash LLL xx S1 / L xx S2 Cr.M xx S1 Dash L xx S1 -- 191 *LLL xx S1 does same amount, LL does less Cr.M xx S1 Dash L xx S2 -- 199 *LLL x S2 does 195 **For these, ending in s2 instead of s1 gives a knockdown I'm not sure if cr L is a low or not, it might be. Overhead f.M -> H xx S3b xx S1 (hold) Mid Cl.M -> H xx S3b xx S1 (hold) -- 192 Cr.H, L xx S2 -- 196 but hella unsafe if you miss the link. S2 (reversal) dash (have enough time to cross under for side switch), M -> H xx S3b xx S1 (hold) - 228 S2 (1 hit) upforward, crossup for surprise mixup (55 + 241 if it hits) Cl.M -> H xx S3b xx S1 (hold) uf *gives jumpin setup outside the corner, crossup in corner **Corner corssup doesn’t seem to work on Talos! S1 xx Super, S1 (held) is a go to for many matchups Punish L xx S1 is good for a fast punish vs a lot of chars, faster than st M. Crossup, cr.H xx Super, S1 - 375ish? (raw super does 300) --good for obvious punishes like whiffed talos grabs or dizzied opponents Throw -> Dash (let them fall a bit) cl.M -> H xx S3b xx S1 (hold) -- 168 Back throw -- Cant be combod, but does 125. Forward Throw -- can be canceled into combo but only does 50 on its own Not really combos but didn’t have another space for it: Cr H is a respectable anti air, but its use varies by matchup. Some chars trade with it really well, and the timing can be a little tricky (easy to accidentally press early and get hit clean). Super is a surprisingly good anti air if they're jumping towards you. Use around the apex of their and they'll usually land on it for the full combo. + Show Spoiler [Vs Crow] + Not too sure how to best deal with this guy, havent played vs him a ton. Super can punish his fireball thing but the timing is real hard, way harder than chel for example. Much better to use S1 to get the hit and then cancel into super when you see it connect. He seems to have both high and low options for his resets? He doesn't have a reversal to my knowledge (maybe super?) so can go wild with meaties. Take your time in this match and pick when to approach. May eat some small damage but don’t want to jumping straight into his fireball traps or the invisibility sphere. Invis sphere doesn’t last long and unless you’ve been knocked down it seems like you can hit him for using it or at least put him in blockstun to avoid some mixups. + Show Spoiler [Vs Chel] + Low button xx fireball isnt true blockstring, can S2 through it. Her DP is super good, cant really beat it by crossing up, and it leads to damage Basically don’t jump at her except to get over fireballs from afar or air to air unless you really are feeling it and calling out a fireball timing, the damage risk is real high. Odds of jumping a fireball are low though, cause she shouldn’t be spamming them at a range too much vs daunt S1 (held) armor will go through a fireball if you start it up ahead of time and whack her, gotta be careful though as that health doesn’t recover too quick. Best use of super is probably going S1 through fireball xx super. Raw supers can punish fireballs or jumpins but those will be rarer against good players and she can bait it by doing fireball xx air fireball to make daunt's super whiff When she's doing odd floaty kick move, if you use cr M, you can go under and itll whiff over you and give you a free punish. Might have to get lucky on timing, not sure if its something you can really do on reaction If she does super raw (she shouldn’t but some do), can jump over it a la sf4 ryu U1 in most cases (maybe not when directly next to her though, havent tested) + Show Spoiler [Vs Talos] + Kinda tough, must be wayyy more careful than the talos player. Biggest fear is the armor kick. It'll fuck you up both as an anti air and as an anti poke. As an anti air youre usually boned, but it should be your goal to bait out some armor kicks and punish with far M -> H Can also go for jumpin -> rejump crossups to try to bait armor kicks for full punishes. Charged S1 is a great tool in this match but don't get too predictable or you'll start eating armor kicks and grabs Be real careful dealing with the mixup after he does his kick -> magnetism combos. Lots of opportunities for him to jump and bait your S2. Look to jump yourself as a good option to avoid his scary stuff (like grab, armor kicks) and potentially get damage yourself. S1 xx super is good here, but can also use it to punish him doing that weird blue charge for his grabs if he's near you (though may not get full damage if he backdashes out of it) That blue charging grab thing can go into anti air grab, so prob safest to leave it alone unless youre near him when he starts. Not sure if it builds him meter Meaty cr M xx S1 (and cr M in general) loses to wakeup armor kick. Meaty cr LLL xx S1 will BEAT wakeup armor kick. Meaty far M -> H will BEAT armor kick. If it's a shoulder tackle talos instead of magentism, the air shoulder charge seems safe if not plus for talos, and they tend to press stuff like cr L after. Look for this habit and blow it up by blocking the shoulder and use S2. He can grab your landing as a punish!! Cant do the kof hold up while jumping to perpetually avoid grabs. Even can get anti aired by super grab in some cases if they're good at the timing. + Show Spoiler [Vs Dauntless] + (mirror) LOTS of S1. Once supers are in play, look to punish held S1's with super and bait super with noncharged S1's. S1 xx Super is prob best use of meter, even if it’s a combo like LLL xx S1 xx super Test the players AA abilities, cr H is a great AA in this matchup but lots of daunts don’t use it. Crossups can be hard to deal with, repeated crossups can be good to bait S2 for a full punish. S2 xx dash combos tend to go a long way in this match. + Show Spoiler [Vs Vlad] + Projectile seems too fast to punish with super Windmill move is punishable on block by L xx S1 Havent fought many of these, not sure what to expect. + Show Spoiler [Vs Edge] + Has overhead reset potential and just a far range overhead combo starter in general. Has a far range low threat that leads to knockdown (think sf4 guy slide). His low jabs seem to be really good but not sure if he can get true damage off of them. Charged S1 does a lot of work in this matchup to get close and punish stuff. Prob the best use of super as well. His DP is pretty good and seems to be S2 if done simultaneously but can be crossed up much easier than chel's, so going for knockdown crossups not a bad idea. Often the crossup will tag his DP out of the air, but the way the juggles work you can do the cl.M -> H xx S3b combo as normal and still get all of it. Can be a good idea to mash S2 during his combos until he starts looking for it, will pop him if he goes for the resets (which are common!) If not trying to mash out, good idea to default block high at least during his combos, because the damaging reset seems to come only off overhead. Not sure what to think about overall character strength. Too unsure what to think of the Crow and Vlad matchups to have an idea there, but Talos seems to have at least a slight advantage over Dauntless, not sure how he does vs the rest of the cast. Chel's damage, buttons, and great reversal probably put her at the top, but she doesn't seem like she's way better or anything. I've had really tense matches vs Chel players, but I've never felt beaten by the character the way Talos made me feel at first lol. Edge matchup seems more even. I feel like Edge has more options to be scary, but the damage isn't absurd and the mixups aren't as confusing as Crow's. Really wishing this alpha had offline play!

For super in the corner with dauntless, theres better finishers than S1 (pause) S3b -> H dash forward -> f.M -> H jump forward -> air.S1 Some high Dauntless that I saw on streams were using S3a. Mostly to keep S1 safe and to do j.H -> H -> S2 dash S3a S1 for 300+ damage

Unless you mean being able to set it to crouch etc etc. Those corner followups sound cool, the only one I had realized on my own was S3b -> S1 (1 hit), which didnt feel like it was worth wasting the extra cooldown on cause if you get a hit immediately after you dont get your full combo. might try the dash forward mh one tho, that could be real useful. I'm gonna have to try out some of that stuff with S3a, thx for the tip! idk how I feel about having to use the dash for your bnb but 300+ is some scary ass damage. I was just messing around with stuff I'd found on my own, I def need to watch some streams / videos for inspiration ![]()

I guess I could learn all the cooldowns and then check the time and count like I used to do when I played ut2k4 so cooldowns aren't that problematic. The hidden meter on other hand is a big fucking problem for me. Imagine playing footsies against E. Ryu without knowing if he has 2 bars or not.

The damage increase in BnBs is cool, it offers a different mixup opportunity with baiting stuff than the usual vandal feint -> throw, but I do kinda like the ability to vandal feint away from bad jump in situations etc. cant wait to play more once I get my computer issues resolved!! Do you ever start losing more than you win in ranked at a certain point? After playing more i feel like Vlad is the most obnoxious character but treating his mixups like KoF hops and just throwing out jabs seems to help a ton. Changed my mind on Talos, im not convinced he beats dauntless anymore. might even be advantage daunt? or maybe I just havent played a scary enough talos yet to remind me why I should fear the character, but a solid footsie game seems to just give him hell, despite his respectable normals / armor kick. Chel and Edge are definitely my hardest matchups at this point, feels like a solid uphill battle vs both of those jerks. My saving grace vs both right now is that players of those characters tend to want to jump too much and daunt's cr H does great against both, although you have to delay it vs edge since he just so damn high. Chel match is just such a damn grind. Almost through diamond. was having trouble getting past gold but then played (and lost to) a couple better dauntless players, picked up some good ideas from them, and went on a massive win streak lol. I think my favorite thing about the game so far is that if you connect to someone and its super shitty (like lagging hard even at the intro screen) it will just disconnect both players and no one loses any points etc. Really wish there was separate rankings per character, might try to get legend, screenshot it, and "spend" my ladder points learning other chars ![]() Pachi, how's your daunt coming along? I was pretty sure she was the worst character for a while but now I've moved her up to 5th maybe even 4th above crow

Patch Notes, Build 1263 By risingthunderAugust 11, 2015 System Block stun frames on many anti-air moves reduced to 15 frames. It’s still safe to Kinetic Advance forward dash these moves after they’re blocked, but the opponent will have frame advantage. Block stun on several other moves reduced to 17 frames, making them roughly even after a Kinetic Advance forward dash. Chel S2 block stun reduced to 15 frames. S2 no longer hits opponents behind Chel. Dauntless New S1 variant! Diesel Strike hits high, but opens up new combo opportunities. S2 block stun reduced to 15 frames. S3 block stun reduced to 17 frames. S2 no longer hits opponents behind Dauntless. Edge F+M has been overhauled with an updated animation, slightly longer startup and recovery, and more accurate hurt-boxes. S2 block stun reduced to 15 frames. S2 no longer hits opponents behind Edge. S3 slide block stun has been reduced by 2 frames. It is still safe on block, but the opponent has frame advantage. S3 overhead hit is no longer cancelable into specials.- S3 overhead hit stun has been increased by 1 frame Talos New S1 variant! Meteor Slam becomes armored immediately, but it cannot be charged or kinetic-canceled like Meteor Breaker. F+H block stun reduced to 17 frames. Talos is slightly negative after kinetic-cancelling this move into a forward dash. F+H no longer hits opponents behind Talos. Fully charged S1v1 has been overhauled with an updated animation and extended ground bounce to allow free follow-ups, similarly to fully charged S2v1. To compensate, its damage has been reduced from 250 to 225. Vlad Uncharged S2 block stun reduced to 15 frames. Charged S2 block stun reduced to 17 frames. Bug Fixes Standardized all normal air reaction hurt-boxes, so most juggles should work consistently against the entire cast. Remaining custom throw reactions will be standardized soon. The last hit of Dauntless’ forward throw now connects consistently. Talos’ air throw distance against Edge and Vlad has been corrected to match the other characters. Visual Improvements Eye gleam added to Edge’s Overdrive attack. Dauntless’ steam power is now operational. Raised Talos’ fist slightly in c.L animation to better convey that it can be blocked high. Cleaned up Talos S1v1 whiff and S2v1 whiff animations. Enhanced impactfulness of Talos normal throws by 200-800% (in metric units, of course). Cleaned up camera cuts in Talos and Vlad’s Overdrive attacks. source Without testing it, I can't wait to play now. Lots of stuff that prob should have been negative in the first place being negative, possibly being able to crossup Chel's DP? Will be cool to see how that new move works out for Daunt, I wonder if Talos's new one will change the matchup much.

Notes on quick testing with S1b: + Easier combos. Can combo into both S3 + Can get 240 without meter, 316 with meter. + Combo won't put S2 on cooldown. + More damage off cr.M. 150 no meter, 250 with meter. + If done above regular height theres enough time to recover for a follow up (ie. off MH) - Since it juggles, can't cancel into super - Since it knocks down can't do S1 xx S3b (hold) resets

That said I still think she's 5th best cause I bet Talos has an even harder time with Edge / Chel etc than Dauntless does. Time to try out some other characters until they add lobbies :D Edit: I do kinda wish they'd make reversals not so good to kinetic out of. Even with the slight nerf to them last patch, they're still obnoxious, Crow super being the most ridiculous of the bunch.

Well, i think edge is still fine, solid mid tier Shame that his overhead basically has no use really other than as a very weird poke tool that's kind of neutral on both block and hit? The odd thing is that you can KADC it into s.jab cr.jab M H --> strings but the links for that are actually fairly difficult (compared to the rest of the stuff in this fighter) and so i've never actually seen anyone do it, especially because the damage scaling is REALLY hard because of the two jabs. The only way i can really see you getting a knockdown after that is if you burn a DP or S1--> MHH S3H sweep or MHH S3L, using meter (and still doing very little damage Talos on the other hand... lol He went from being the worst to being pretty much top tier now that he has a *pure* 50/50 on any knockdown (boot/command grab) that leads into 250-300 damage and resets into another *pure* 50/50 (boot/command grab again hah) Also he can start this 50/50 game from a blocked spartan rush (can't easily react with DP here) into command grab or booth Shows you how strong 1f command grabs with armor are ![]() Also he also has the same 50/50 wakeup game if you decide to be close enough to him to threaten a meaty grab or close normals

Even GG Xrd used 3D to simulate 2D with the cel shading and all, which made it visually appealing and unique from other fighting games. I was hoping for the sequel they'd complete the 2D victories animations you see in the older games that didn't make it to KOF13 due to time and budget constraints, but I guess that won't be happening anymore ![]()

Arcana Heart series were featured in Tougeki tourneys for several years, though you'd never see these type of games at Evo (mainly because they were localized to Japan). Then there's always KoF heh

It runs at 60fps on practically every machine, it looks amazing (even better than ps4 I've been told) and the netcode is pretty good from the few matches I've played. There are some issues with memory leaks atm but from what we've seen with the other games they've ported they will probably be fixed soon. I'm over the moon with this one boys!

With my old hori stick, I went into the game that appealed to me the most, MKX (was on sale as well). The idea is to just get good at a character, so that I am equiped to jump into whatever new fighthing game that is comming up with more ease. Unfortunately, I can't stand SF4/5 graphics, it just do not appeal to me at all, even though I played SF1/2 before a lot (casually with friends, no internet). Should I quit? I mean, is SFV and GG rxd where fighthing games will be like? Tekken I could handle graphic wise, but it was slow paced last time I played it. Mortal Kombat is really nice, but it seems nobody is playing it (my assumption).

TBH I think I speak for most when I say that MKX is probably the worst fighting game on the market right now. Maybe you should look up Killer Instinct? It's coming to PC this year if you don't have an Xbox. Otherwise SF and GG are the most popular ones right now (and rightfully so imo).

Can't get into fighters because of the graphics....? I mean, maybe look into Tekken 7 eventually but other than that I don't think that mindset will lead you to much enjoyment with fighters. Yes yes and yes. It have to be visually stimulating to hit someone. When I do a combo it needs to satisfy something in me. Sure, later on the mechanics will be more important, and I will realize MKX is awful or not. Now MKX it is the only thing drawing me in, as its just so fun getting those combos rolling, and it's visually appealing. But yes, maybe I have the wrong mindset, or maybe the mindset will grow as I get the mechanics down on my Hori stick, making it easier to transfer that to new games. I just dont see me playing SFV, but who knows. The game seems stuck in 99

They're meaty as fuck. I have a similar problem in SF4 where most characters just feel like they're barely hitting the other fighter. Makoto was my solution to that.

K' feels like 13 K' but better whereas most 13 chars got toned down. His flying low kick leads to a full combo and is totally safe on block except maybe to 1f grab kinda stuff. Also gets 39% or more for 1 bar off of low confirm. Overhead doesnt lead to much but trigger def still does. I want to play antonov if I can figure out his buttons better and find some more stuff to do midscreen. His low confirm is such a pain in the butt though ![]()

If you mean your dp where she does the flip slash, that's still there and very good. Basically easier confirms, being able to freely super cancel her rekkas without wasting extra bar, and max mode giving her access to as many EX moves as she wants has made her a ton more scary than her 13 iteration. Think spending 1 bar to get 3 EX fireballs or EX flips. I think EX flip is safer now too? I haven't played against her a ton yet but she's really popular right now in tournaments. Probably seeing more use in these first couple weeks of 14 tournaments than she ever got in 13.
