So I'm sure all of you all remember what happened, even if you don't or didn't live in America. Where were you during this time? I remember I was in fourth grade, in some music class and all of a sudden the teacher said something about the world trade center, and I was like what is that? Then we kept watching the news all day, pretty sad. Most other people's stories are similar from teachers and people who shared today during school. Condolences to those who were lost.

Just discuss anything about this tragic event.

And even though tl.net hates fox, I'm sure this clip is real.

There is a website with a collection of a bunch of different channels coverage of the events as they happened. It's pretty interesting seeing what people were thinking at different times on different stations. Nobody had a clue what was going on for a while.

was watching the smoke fill up my block wondering what the fuck was going on.

the videos of the news reports coming in throughout the day are pretty awful. there was a cbs report a few days/weeks later with uninterrupted videotape of someone who was down there that day and id like to watch that again one day if anyone knows of it.

screw all the media clips, real or fake... truth is.. REAL people lost their lives that day, thousands of them. I'm sure there are many people even in the TeamLiquid community who has had a friend or family member lose their lives. Don't be ignorant.

I went to boarding school at the time.
The first plane hit at ~8:45 AM Local time, which was 14:45 in Germany. My last class had ended at 14:30 and for a reason I don't remember I went to my room to sleep for an hour or two (must have been a long night or w/e) and when I woke up again I had an ICQ message flashing (only used ICQ at the time, no MSN, etc) from a friend of mine telling me about that 2 planes crashed into WTC. I didn't believe a word of it, but the news sites I checked told me it was true. I immediatly left for the TV room we had on our floor, where most of us were already gathered. Stayed there for basically the whole day.

These is the kind of thing you just dont forget, the memory makes a lasting impression thro your lifetime.

I got picked up at school around 11:30 AM and my dad was really quiet, his eyes were looking at the horizon, he seemed to be with his mind really far away.

Then after we were already on the car on the way home he said to me

"Son, some terrorists kidnapped a plane and bombed it against the WTC"

i was like 12, so i asked, whats terrorists ?! and wtf is the WTC

He spend the time until we got home talking about the american incursions on the middle east, and about the 6 day wars, and why those guys tough it was worth it to explode themselves to kill thousands of fellow human beings.

I was scared, i was anxious, but nothing prepared me for seeing the second plane, and I remember exacly how i felt like.

People are so caught up in all the shrouds of scandals and the media surrounding 9/11, they seem to forget 2000 people lost their lives. By stating "Don't be ignorant," I simply meant lets not be insensitive to the nature of what happened. BTW, my statement was not targeted at you, OP.

Hmm.. i don't know where i was when it happened. I do know i said to my dad: 'Yeah well, it wasn't an if but an when question, was it?' when he told me what happened. I'm not saying i approve what happened. I don't like the whole idea of hurting the wrong people to get attention to the statement they carried.

I just hope there comes a time this is all history.. al these acts of terrorism and trying to solve it by fucking up an country that houses the people behind it.

Thousands of people die everyday, you stupid asshole.

Unless by "REAL people" you mean Americans, meaning no one else matters.

I was in my grd 11 drama class and had just finished some dumb class project. I walked up to my friends and they were running down to a TV cause the first tower had just been hit. Literally seconds after we got in the 2nd tower got hit....totally surreal moment. Some girls decided they weren't coming into the school the next day because they were so traumatized and thought it was WW3 :p .

Oh yeah for sure, there are alot of documents and whatnot about how it was planned by the government of the U.S but people did lose lives. This also brings another thing up when I was talking about this with some friends, one guy said that millions of others died in the holocaust and in Africa from genocide, whats the difference between those and 9/11? Simply put, I think its because it happened in the U.S.

I remember that I saw the news first on some fishy music download site. I thought it was a stupid AD or something, didn't believe it at all. 1 hour later I came home and saw it on the news, they stopped about all regular shows on the TV just for this news. On like all channels aswell.
It still amazes me that it really happened, in a bad way of course.

I was at ground zero in january. You could really feel the sadness and grief amongst the americans.. Emotional.
