2 chinese players getting into qualifiers finals…
Is this the reason no chinese players in Bsl?
A lot of new faces in ASL
Protos players basicly only top players.
It is pretty hard to call, if this is season actually is higher skill level than last season. Because there are so many new players and old faces.
But if we look at the zerg line up, it is hard not to say there is the best of zerg of the past 10 years…
It is a shame that Flash isnt playing. But it is basicly impossible for Soulkey to win this season…
Rain and Flash would make this season like the best…

Based on map pool, whole Zerg race rising to dethrone him and himself declining or keeping up. It takes a toll staying on the top.

Im really happy to see effort and larva have made it. So entertaining to watch these gosus play.
And yeah we were so close like never before seeing a non-korean in ASL. Mihu & Fengzhi

Qualifier ended just a few hours ago, not everyone follows it live.
Give it atleast half a day to have people catch up.

There are three different threads about the qualifiers right now (+ one about ASL20 in general which also includes quali discussion)
Maybe open your eyes instead of making these garbage threads?

Absolutely and the organisers always give the streamers (ty, sea when he s there) a super easy group while you get crazy stacked others as a result

It's a bit like the stock market being a voting machine in the short run, and a weighing machine in the long run. Those who keep up with the fundamentals will eventually be rewarded. Those who are skeptical will be left in the dust.
Also don't underestimate the challenge in any group -- the first opponent alone Fengzi beat in the group, Youngjoo, would have easily dominated the vast majority (99%) of all non-Koreans.

I guess it is a bit random, for the bracket you get into… No point in devaluing ASL though… Or are tournaments like BSL less random in your perspective?

I meant the qualifiers only.
Because of lack of seeding system for it, I don't won't to acknowledge author's claim about 'crazy qualifiers'.

During the KSL era he was very successful, and can still show really great play. He makes at least the Ro8 almost every time he participates (just made the semifinals 2 ASLs ago). He just doesn't have the drive required to be fully competitive any more.

Participating in ASL barely makes any money compared to streaming, unless you got a big fanbase willing to splurge on you achieving certain things in ASL. Soulkey got lots of donos for winning a 4th time, and others have also gotten lots of donos. But generally ASL costs more than it makes for player, because its a lost day or days of streaming.

BSL as a tournament is less random because the skill disparity is bigger - and the qualifier is less random because it has consistently included a ladder option where the top players will always make it as long as they play enough games.
It is true that some of the same top players consistently make it through the qualifiers, though, and that's a testament to their skill. But if you're looking at players outside the top ~8, whether they make it to the top 24 or not is well.. I don't think 'random' is the right word, but chance is a big factor. I think quite a few of the final matches that went 2-1 could probably go the other way nearly 50% of the time, and someone like Hyun had to beat Sacsri and Free to make it (and he did), while huro ran into Soma and Queen (and lost both finals).
