Too many servers are running deathmatch mode, hardly get any objective matches. At first it seemed like the combat was slower and more strategic, but then i went back to WoTR and realised its the opposite. Kinda hard to learn the game when u get 1-2hit and have to wait out each round. Feels like you die way too easy in this game and have no chance to respond to a gangbang.
Totally different games imo. Prefer WoTR though. Chivalry feels like an arcade FPS match with swords and the ranged combat sux.
i have about 20 hour clocked with WoTR but WoTR combat is really pathetic. it is way more arcade ish because it is laughably forgiving, they usually boil down to someone getting a lucky armpit shot after a minute of swinging. this coupled with the greater awareness of 3rd person, the very little punishment for missing swings, hold b to bandage lol, sonic sprints and the hold to block mechanic makes for a shitty beat em' up style of fighting.
Also should you be able to fight your way out of a gang bang? like it is doable with the man at arms class if you are smart with your dodging stamina or even with a vanguard and a pole arm in some situations but i feel that the power of numbers is great for objective based games like this.
not to mention how unsatisfying swinging a sword in WoTR feels (you feel like a toddler when you swing it, there is no weight behind it man.)
and not finding a objective match is ridiculous, they are easy to find.
Really the only things better about WoTR are the customization, badass horseback riding and the better ranged combat.
i also have a lot more hope for free content in chivalry considering it was a kickstarted indie development

Am I the only one not seeing any servers at all still?
I downloaded Steam Beta like they said and relaunched it like 3 times and I'm still seeing nothing.

At times I hear sounds of battle right next to me and I find myself turning around right away ready to parry incoming enemy slash and theres no one anywhere near me.
If that makes sense, couldn't phrase it properly.
I had the same problem in a game now, restart of the game fixed it for me. Most battle sounds (war cries especially) appeared to be right next to me, makes for quite the experience in paranoid head turning :D (stereo headset)

This is probably my surprise 2012 Game of the Year. There is such wonderful depth to the combat in this game that I can't help but compare it to Counter-Strike. It will take many months before the player base will discover this depth though so it is a bit easy right now.

The gameplay is in line with Q3 and CS 1.6 for me. There still are some minor issues (hitboxes, customization etc.) but the major issues this game has are the performance and how horrible the UI can be at times. The game itself is just so good that those things don't matter a whole lot.
I love it.

Indeed, my list of multiplayer fps i spent way too much time with:
Doom 1 & 2 Duke Nukem 3D Quake 1-3 Counter-Strike (first beta to full 1.3) RTCW & Enemy Territory Team Fortress Classic & 2 Unreal Tournament (99)
Didn't expect to add any title to this list any time soon and didn't have chivalry on my radar at all but it's making a strong case, needs polish, more maps and i expect to be hooked to this game for some time to come .

I lag out of every server i join. Game worked fine offline during the training, but i lag out about 30 seconds after joining. I can move and everyone else freezes/moves in the same direction and speed as they were when i lose connection. Feels exactly like the Thompson routers glitch from Killing floor. Anything i can do to fix this?

- Burning DPS increased from 7 to 10
nooooo, MAA throwing fire pots are already annoying enough getting their cheap fire damage in
- Feinting takes actual time (when you feint it'll take 0.4 seconds before you reach the idle state again and can swing again).
need to see how this feels in actual gameplay
- Missing with 2-handed weapons costs 20 stamina instead of 10.
mainly use Halbred VG, and I agree with this nerf to 2H use
- Flinch if hit in idle.
good, less cheap kills
hooray for Norse sword nerf and no Halbred nerf
we'll see how noticeable the ranged buffs are
