I can't parry hammers at all either. If a dagger can parry my greatsword swing I don't see why my greatsword wouldn't parry a hammer swing. Might be just me doing something wrong but something feels off with that.
Otherwise really enjoying the game so far, had most fun with last team standing. Oh and archery is kind a lackluster but I'm all about melee anyway so doesn't hurt me but something to consider.
Need to find a FFA server next to see how that goes.
Too many servers are running deathmatch mode, hardly get any objective matches. At first it seemed like the combat was slower and more strategic, but then i went back to WoTR and realised its the opposite. Kinda hard to learn the game when u get 1-2hit and have to wait out each round. Feels like you die way too easy in this game and have no chance to respond to a gangbang.
Totally different games imo. Prefer WoTR though. Chivalry feels like an arcade FPS match with swords and the ranged combat sux.
Loving how you can't just hold the attack or block button indefinitely and you actually need to time it, encourages actually skilled play and blocking. Plus feinting, hnnng. In response to the post above, of course you die easy in this game. It's approaching combat more realistically and strategically. If you get gangbanged by 3 people you need to be REALLY good to beat them, you SHOULDNT be able to fight 3-4 people easily. I've done it a few times actually, but it's hard -- like it should be. I played WoTR for like 15 hours and honestly that feels far more arcadey than this. Not that arcadey is bad, but this is definitely NOT an arcadey style game.
And ranged combat, in my limited experience so far has been fun. Hitboxes are a bit messed up with you get 64 people together and its lagging up, but other than that I'm loving it. I mean if you want to learn, go play the tutorial. There's a bunch of things in it that let you practice blocking and parrying and riposting and the likes.
For $25, definitely worth every cent. M&B2 has a lot to work up to. You can tell they definitely put a lot of effort into making the melee combat especially pretty damn fun. The unlock system is pretty unique also.
Don't know what is going on, cant join any server. Either says authentication failed or connection lost, sometimes i cant even find any servers. Buggy as hell.

Checked steam community page, apparently there's a few issues going on with servers and the like. :/

Wow. That makes the game look like Smash Brothers, where you have a lot of timings, positionings, and mind-games on those things. To say that the blocking is too simple doesn't mean it doesn't require skill! Smash brothers has dodge, block, roll, jump and aerial dodge -- this game too has block, duck, parry, jump and quick side-step (depending on class).

Yeah mind games work great in combat. It's pretty much how you tear through hordes of lowly pub plebs with ease. Then you stumble upon a player who doesn't fall for a simple feint. There will be a slight moment of hesitation as both of you realise you have met your equal before you engage in a battle of the titans. The battlefield around you turns into a grey haze because you and your opponent know that whoever wins this fight is going to decide the game. Time slows down as you circle each other waiting for an opportunity to strike, avoiding blows and dispatching of reckless enemies foolishly trying to engage you. Then you get hit by an Archer.

Yeah its certainly unique, but please dont compare this carefully designed game to Call of Duty

then you get hit by a friendly swinging his hammer, you mean
Really enjoying playing this. It's awesome being in a server and being able to shoot the shit with the people playing. Everyone seems to be in it for a good time (save for a few ragers).
Absolutley in love with the combat in this game its amazing what feedback you get from hitting someone. The classes seem pretty balanced too, archers seem pretty weak maybe but with the right teamcomp they can be really good. Can't say i regret getting this over WoTR
This game is awesome, great combat system, good maps for team objectives, reminds me of my experience with Team Fortress 2, just FUN all around. Archers aren't weak just situational, probably not the best in a FFA without cover/elevations but game deciding when covering choke points in team games.
It does have lots of bugs though, no game breaking ones for me thankfully but be warned. (Hopefully this game gets great long term support from the developer, its worth it.)
Is it just my imagination/bad speakers or is it hard to figure out where the game sounds are coming from sometimes? At times I hear sounds of battle right next to me and I find myself turning around right away ready to parry incoming enemy slash and theres no one anywhere near me.

If that makes sense, couldn't phrase it properly.
Wearing headphones and its no problem for me to tell where anything is happening. If I get confused its usually because stuff is happening all around you at once which happens a lot.
The video above already makes me wet, however I'm still a bit torn. Is there someone here who played both WotR and this one and can list some pros/cons or likes/dislikes about them? :>
