/edit: In my battle phase, someone special-summoned one monster card on this side of the field and I activated this card. But he said I can't because it's my battle phase. The card was there for over 1 turn already, so it shouldn't be a problem, right? :S
You can activate it during the battle phase, just not during the damage step. So I believe something like Gorz can't be negated?

Everyone here should read this thread, I just started reading it it'll probably answer a lot of questions. I make a lot of rule mistakes myself.
Ah, thank you. That was the type of card he played.
And can Bottomless Trap Hole destroy all kind of summons?
Yes, BTH seems to win against anything. The only issue is that it does destroy a card and THEN remove it from play so a card like Stardust Dragon is immune to it because SD can negate the destruction then come back.
Also did not realize that Solemn/Rai-Oh/Black Horn can not stop Monster Reborn. Now I see why Solemn Warning is so powerful in this format.
"Why can't Gorz be Bottomlessed after his SS? Gorz triggers in the Damage Step. During that Step, only Counter Traps, Effects that modify ATK/DEF, and compulsory Effects can trigger. Thus even though his summoning can fulfill BTH, BTH's nature prevents it from going off in the Damage Step. This is also why Bottomless cannot be used when a Searcher pulls out a 1500 ATK monster."
I would be in for the tournament but if its traditional its goin to be so broken lol, manticore of darkness OTK with exodia comes back, last turn , cyber stien , magical scientist , DMOC OTK , Chaos emperor dragon otk , yata locks and i could go on and on lol.

Yeah I got advanced/traditional mixed up in my head sorry
Btw: You should play some games and let us TL users observe. This way, we can learn a lot. Also, when do you get experience on DN? Like, in my last three games which I won, I didn't get anything :/

has to be rated and both you and your opponent have to not quit.

A round of 16 seems the most reasonable! GreYMisT has a random bracketing tool to use.
So the tournament rules would work as follows:
- Advanced Format (unrated) - You must use the same main deck throughout the whole tournament. You can side in between games. - All matches are Bo3 with the final match being Bo5 - There must be at least one judge who does not participate in the tournament but spectates all matches and knows every players decklist. - No show = forfeit - Obvious cheating, such as changing your main deck during the tournament, will result in automatic disqualification
So what's the best format?
Brackets with single elimination (fastest option)? Group style ala MSL or OSL?
What do you think? First tournament can be for honor but what about having prizes in the future?
Also don't netdeck if you're gonna play a tourney, everyone try to come up with your own deck and if you do netdeck to start try to make it somewhat original ok? It's no fun to win with some other players regional winning deck.
/in PM me with details or add me as friend on the DN forums or ingame (Screwby)

Well specifically only Rai-Oh and Black Horn cannot stop it, and I still think it's a silly ruling. Solemn can still stop it because it can actually target the magic card, not just wait for the summon to happen and try to target the monster.

To be fair Solemn Judgement still works against the activation of Monster Reborn, just don't let your opponent declare the monster to be revived from the graveyard.

People quit all the time when they lose -_-
Ah, and since it's not traditional anymore, I'm "/in" as well.
I tried playing this game with my old middle school deck from 2004-5 ish. Evidently, every deck that now exists is a combo deck that gets giant monsters or infinitely recursive combos out on turn 3 and renders it impossible to win. Combine that with an extensive banlist (that covers a large amount of my cards) and half a billion cards that require one specific other card to work, and you have an unstable, ridiculous metagame with no real competitive value, you either draw the nuts or lose, and given how small decks are, you usually get the former, then it just comes down to the deck matchup you're playing.
Why do people play this competitively? Even Pokemon TCG is deeper than this...
