After it fell through, Paul simply wrote, "WoW," on his Twitter page. Maybe CP3 is just into Warcraft these days, i bet he plays a Shaman of some kind

Commissioner, It would be a travesty to allow the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul in the apparent trade being discussed. This trade should go to a vote of the 29 owners of the Hornets. Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing. I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn’t appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade for Dwight Howard. (They would also get a large trade exception that would help them improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player). I just don’t see how we can allow this trade to happen. I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do. When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals? Please advise…. Dan G.

Even though I don't like the Lakers (more so Kobe) it's ridiculous that of all the trades the league and other Owners could make a stink about it's THIS one. Really? So when the Lakers got Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown and Javaris Crittenton where was the uproar? The league could at least pretend to be nixing the trade because Houston is getting fleeced. the grizzlies weren't owned by the league. the hornets are owned by the nba, which means the 29 other owners do have a say in its running

Wonder which teams will start gutting their rosters (maybe he'll end up on Clips anyway)?

They didn't own Lebron James but they were all going bonkers when he was a Free Agent.

As for the Hornets, how is a roster of okafor, scola, martin, dragic and odom bad? Combine that with 2 draft picks, the hornets did well considering there was ZERO chance that Paul was going to resign with New Orleans anyways. The trade veto is stupid since all they did was take away any potential return value for a player that won't be there next season. Yes, the owners won the battle but Chris Paul will just laugh in their face and win the war in a season anyways.

) They are going straight to NBA hell for at least a season with this lineup.Houston is looking pretty down no matter what, no Rick Adleman, no clear number one option, no dominant center and a thin bench. They are in purgatory now as they were taught defense and out played teams like the GSW, Jazz, Kings, and Wolves, but they still got wiped by every other team in their division. This trade would've wrecked their roster, no way could they thread together back to back to backs with such a thin team, they would become bottom feeders with this trade, no thrown into purgatory. No way Houston wouldn't be getting a top10 pick next year if this trade went through. @ChaosTrigger Pau is not a better scorer than Scola, maybe he appears so in the triangle offense, but Scola can get you 30 a night if needed...Surely the scoop of Scola is greater than the high release jumper ! :D As for NOH, its not that they are a bad lineup, Dragic/Jack, Martin, Ariza, Scola, Okafor with Odom coming off the bench is definitely a formidable team, but are they as good as OKC? LAL? What about teams which are on the fence and could be great or just good like Portland, Memphis, Dallas, San Antonio, Denver? Chance are they would end up in the middle of that second list, and they will never be able to secure a solid superstar again, as they need to do so through the draft. Free agency is clearly not the location for small markets to search out superstars.

Where is that Hornets roster going? Their ceiling would be the first round and they'd be one of the most expensive teams in the league. I mean come on, you aren't seriously thinking Goran Dragic is going to lead a franchise turn around are you? New Orleans has no Owner and the NBA has selling them to various interest groups. You really think someone is going to buy a first round fodder team with aging vets and no superstar? Who is the face of the franchise? Who are the fans paying to see? Goran Dragic?! You'll have a middle of the pack WC team with draft picks which would be devalued since you aren't bad enough to go high in the lottery. Awesome. The trade veto was smart since it prevented TWO GMs from killing their franchises long term ability to be successful and make money. At best we can say the Hornets got 2 draft picks which won't go far. We rag on GMs for being dumb all the time and make no mistake - this was a DUMB trade. I mean you are seriously trying to sell me on the idea that Pau Gasol + Nene and fodder is going to scare any team in the West. Cripple 2 small market teams just so the Lakers can get theirs. Yea, ok.

They already tried this roster for the last two years and all it has netted them is 2 straight number 14 picks and they will continue to stay that way unless they did something about it. Without this trade all they probably would've gotten was samuel dalambert in free agency, rolling out with lowry, martin, scola, dalambert, budinger is still going to get them maybe an 8th seed. With gasol and someone else like a nene the whole gameplan changes and they can stop becoming a bad version of the suns from 5 years ago. I'll keep this really simple since I've already explained why this trade is terrible for Houston hours ago. Nene+Gasol+the rest of the Houston roster with no draft picks left. How far are they going? Answer this first and then I'll educate you.

They also had one of the top tier coaches in the league, which contributed a lot more to their mediocrity than their teams overall talent level did. You cant say they've been using a roster for two years, when this is the residue left over from having legitimate superstars on their roster and building around them, and then trying to cover losses when they were injured.
