Nene+Gasol+the rest of the Houston roster with no draft picks left. How far are they going? Answer this first and then I'll educate you. Lowry/flynn lee/t-will budinger/morris/patterson gasol/patterson nene/hill/thabeet Yea I mean clearly theres no roster. Yea sure the bench is young but honestly how good they can be was left a question mark the entire season last year cause Adelman made it pretty clear hes not into developing young players considering how little he played some of them last season. Patterson showed good signs and hill can be up and down. Terrence williams is a complete mystery cause the only time we saw him was during garbage time and I trust flynn to a certain extent since Morey has had him on high regards since the year he was drafted and overall Morey's draft picks are pretty solid considering where hes drafted. As for your doubts about Courtney Lee replacing Kevin Martin, I trust lee to make up for Martin's scoring in his defense. No I'm not insinuating that Houston was going to be the 4th seed in the west or something, I'm saying its a shift from the 105.9ppg no defense rockets into a more defensive minded team since they actually have some post presence and can put Lee on the other teams best player. Also if Lowry can't be relied on to score more then you clearly didn't see his string of games in March last season where he proved hes a capable starter. I mean in an overall level, look at Daryl Morey's trade history and tell me where hes made some blatantly bad trades. He got scola essentially for nothing, turned Donte greene into artest, got rid of alston to get Lowry, turned Carl Landry into Kevin Martin, got something out of nothing for t-mac. Think about the situation he was in, he became gm having to deal with t-mac and yao's bloated contracts and essentially was forced to build around two fragile stars which he did. If you put a healthy superstar t-mac onto the roster that took the Lakers to 7 games, theres a pretty good chance the Rockets win that series and go on to win the title that year. If Morey didn't have a plan after this trade or didn't like it he clearly wouldn't have agreed to it nor would the Lesley Alexander okay it either.

The rockets roster is a bunch of above average players, although I'd wonder if older gasol is that much better than scola/martin combined. Houston spending the last however many years trying to stockpile assets then just bottoming out would be stupid. That would make much more sense if they had a ton of young players who could lose while developing (like the clippers). Double Gasols would be much more interested than Nene Gasol. First, they'd both be more likely to stay (would be more relevant if Marc wasn't restricted). Second, they're the core of the spanish national team that almost beat the 2008 dream team, and destroyed people this summer.

Nice to see the thread picking up speed, a bit of a shame that it seems to be the 7-8 same guys though, wish there were more basketball fans on TL (I know, TL isn't exactly the mecca for NBA die-hards) :D

Man, imagine being in that Laker locker room as the team heads back to training this very day (friday)? It could ruin their entire season very easily NO also get screwed as now they wont get a damn thing for CP3, who will either sign for Lakers or Knicks come summer next year. So all this does is ruin the next season for NO, current Laker season, make Stern look like a even bigger idiot than anything before it, hurt the credibility of the NBA and overall achieves nothing.

I love this whole Hornets fiasco. Let's not let the small market team get some good players and make sure they get nothing next year when he can just leave.
