Chalmers can be an excellent defender and he's shown a lot more consistency this year so far this season, plus he's been the deep threat that the Heat need. Lin is a top 15 PG, but Chalmers might be top 20 and in tough games with a surplus of offensive weapons, I'll take the much, much better defender.
Bosh is better than Amare at both ends. Chandler is really the biggest strength the Knicks have (and arguably the MVP of that team) but their fans will never realize it.
On top of that, the Knicks are on game 4 in 5 nights. I will be incredibly impressed if the game is close.
I'd say an Amare with life in his knees who is hitting his midrange jumper is a much better offensive player than Bosh.
He doesn't have life in his knees anymore. :/ The jumper is ok, but he's good for a couple good dunks a night.
Chandler's great defensively both as a rebounder/shotblocker/paint player and also as one on one post defender, but I feel like his time with CP3 lobbing him alley-oops made a lot of people overestimate him offensively.
Disagree 100000%. His usage is lower and he scores more points per game than he did with the Hornets. I don't think anyone ever gave him much credit offensively, but the Knicks' P&R is largely dependent on him and Lin. It doesn't run the same when it's Lin and Amare. Chandler is better at setting screens for Lin and having him come up helps Amare find spacing. Chandler makes Amare better offensively.
Chalmers is great defensively, for sure, but I'd argue that Lin playing the way he is right now is much more than just a top 15 pg, probably between 10 and 5.
It's very fair to say he's playing top 10 right now (I say top 15 accounting for potential, so I'd take Irving/Kemba/Knight/Wall ahead) but the Knicks have tons of options on offense and I don't think this will be a high scoring game. These are the games where you want a Rondo-like PG that sets people up and plays great defense. Chalmers is closer to that. If I were starting a new team I'd definitely take Lin but for the championship level, I'll take Chalmers. Lin is 100% better, but Chalmers is one of those guys who will never make an all star game (especially on this team), but is absolutely critical for success.
It definitely comes down to focus. The Heat have had like 2 games in 5 nights and they were on cruise control for most of those games, so they could be complacent right now. Against Linsanity though, and the hype that's going into it, I don't think they will be. I think Chalmers and Wade will give Lin/Davis a very hard time.
This is what Knicks fans should be terrified of. There's only a few PGs who can make that steal, and Lin gives that up to much lesser defenders.

Lin is calling the offense for the knicks. I doubt he'll let melo have that many touches considering how rusty he's been the last couple of games.

Or, you know, the Heat are just really good.
Come on, the Heat have the Knicks beat at pretty much every position minus center. That doesn't mean they'll auto-win, but talent is not something they are lacking in. The Heat have also been playing together longer while this Knicks team is basically a new team.
Ehh, I dunno if I'd say everywhere but Center.
Lin >> Chalmers Fields <<< Wade Melo << LeBron STAT > Bosh Chandler > Anthony
(DISCLAIMER: All little less than/greater than symbols are based on opinion, of course)
Heat are clearly the favorite, for sure, but don't sleep on the Knicks. The fact that the only person who they have who can guard LeBron in the starting lineup is Carmelo is probably going to lead to as many points as LeBron feels like scoring, but if Amar'e plays like he can/should, Melo has a big offensive night so he doesn't get embarrassed by the King and Lin keeps playing well and controls his turnovers, they have a decent chance. Especially if Wade has an off night, which could happen.

Completely agree, been saying this for ages. Setting screens is an art, as a big guy who's always been rubbish at it I'm well placed to know that. Chandler is just a great pick and roll player, who brings a lot to an offense.

based only on skill, right? because all that revenue generated by lin alone x.x
edit: ugh such biased commentators on espn
yea, and because I've seen Chalmers play for going on 4 years vs 12 games for Lin. If Lin ever becomes the shooter and defender Chalmers is then I'd think about it.

Suffice to say, however, that neither one is going to be your #1 pick to build around, even at the PG position.
And honestly, I can't imagine how people still think Amar'e is better than Bosh. Bosh's skillset is so much more diverse, he is more durable, and more athletic (now). Sure, maybe he takes the POWER out of Power Forward, but he is still damn good, and not everyone can be Tim Duncan or Kevin Garnett.
Yea it's pretty much after I've already built most of my roster and need a PG. Assuming I've even got 1 decent ball handler on my team then Chalmers is most likely going to be a better option.
